I put my bicycle in for a service requesting particular attention to be given to the gears. The mechanic made a complete mess of setting my gears up and then denied it.

I seriously can not recommend these guys enough. I wanted to buy local rather than through a large company (I love supporting local businesses). I did think things might be a little more expensive and slow than the larger companies but I could not have been more wrong. They obtained the bike I wanted even though it is not a usual stock item for a good price, they then offered a free 6 week & 6 month service. This week I took it (late) for it's 6 month (free) service. I had trouble contacting them by phone so just rocked up. I was greeted and welcomed by staff that were busy working and told my bike would be ready for collection the next day (today). I got a call to tell me that it was ready- but sadly due to work I wasn't! The guys offered free delivery but there was noone at home so they stayed in the shop until I could get there to collect it. I expected some glum faces and annoyance but no.....I was greeted with smiles and fantastic service. I am so happy that I decided to buy local and even happier that I chose Southsea Cycles- one message to the owner- please don't change your staff- they score an 11/10! ((The bike and service are top notch too!)

Experience with the Southsea Cycles that cost £5k.

I have ordered a Babboe Carve Mountain cargo bike through CycleScheme in August 2022. I was told that lead time is up to 12 weeks. I double checked this lead time, but they have allegedly checked with the UK supplier. I was excited to get kids to school and commute to work. By the end of November they ensured the delivery is imminent, then pushed to December, January and February 2023 when they sent one and only delivery update email. The email stated my model is in the customs. After that they stopped answering my calls (only getting through when calling from a new number).

On 14 August (a year on and followed by more unanswered calls and emails) I requested cancellation of the order, but I have had no reply.

The fantastic reviews are in exact opposite to my experience. I don't know which other ways of a soft dispute resolution should I explore to have my CycleScheme (now fully paid) certificate cancelled. Not being interested in causing more stir than necessary, I just want to put this matter to bed and move on.

Finally……a trustworthy cycle shop!
These guys know they’re stuff, and they’re happy to share their knowledge.
They repair, rather than try to sell you unnecessary new parts.

I think Southsea cycles is one of the best bike shops in the local area. The owner and top mechanic is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable he knows so much about the mechanics of road bikes and mountain bikes. His prices are very fair and he is very flexible, given how busy the shop is he will fit you in which is excellent customer service. I will always be going back in for parts and repairs and to have a chat. I am a keen cyclist and will recommend my colleagues to use the shop. Superb bike shop, keep up the great work as you are building a great Business 🙌🏻👍😎

The owner of this store has to be the most genuine man I have ever come across , he was very helpful and understanding and his knowledge of bikes is second to none, I would recommend this store to anyone

Southeast Cycles fitted extra brake levers to my wife’s road bike which she was extremely pleased with. Excellent service and Liam is very knowledgeable. A very friendly and helpful bike shop who I will be recommending to my mtb group.

I ordered an aqua green Biria easy boarding bike from the Netherlands and I had it delivered it within less than a week. I'm very pleased with the bike. Cycling is so smooth. Pedalling and gearing is so fluid that I can cycle for long distances without having any issues with my knees. Thank you Southsea Cycles for allowing me to enjoy cycling after many uncomfortable experiences with other expensive bikes!

I was interested in buying a folding bike, preferably with an electric motor. I visited Southsea Cycles who were extremely helpful and gave me lots of advice and even a test ride. The bike is exactly what I wanted and I am very pleased with my purchase.
