The solar industry is generally opaque with an awful lot of 'smoke and mirrors' making it very difficult to get an accurate feel for cost and pay back and South Coast Renewable Energy were an easy company to do business with, communicate well and are proactive in responding to questions with more openness than others. After 6 months of operation I'd predict a pay back period of about 7-8 years.

Like every other company they were overly optimistic about how many panels would fit on my roof, 15 vs 18. Once they were on the roof fitting was quick and efficient and the system was set to work and has performed without problem since.

There are three areas that were less than completely satisfactory: 1. Despite repeated reassurances that the inverter and battery would be completely silent one of them is not, having an irritating double knock at random times of day and night that can clearly be heard all over the house.
2. The cable runs were less than satisfactory. Those in the attic came detached - and in fairness were quickly refitted refitted without fuss. I have recovered over 150 cable clips from the gravel drive and, two punctures later, I'm still finding them - in my view that's sloppy workmanship.
3. One set of the panels is in a valley in the roof and I'm surprised to find that, from October to February they are substantially shaded by the opposite roof. That information may have been buried in the plethora of data that accompanied the proposal but I feel it should have been highlighted.

I had engaged with a number of solar/battery storage companies with the intention of just gathering some quotes. The responses varied wildly in content, price and quality. The biggest piece to me that stood out with South Coast was their understanding of my usage and needs tied together with my budget (which was actually fairly modest). They listened carefully and put forward a proposal that met my needs perfectly, and I decided to go ahead. The install time was as fast as it could be (had to wait for the DNO application as my system was over 3.6kW) and because South Coast have a 100% in-house team, the scaffolding was put up and taken down quickly, all answers (whether technical or not) were answered effectively and they were honest when they had to get further clarification rather than just telling you what you want to hear. Install only took just over a day and I was up and running within a little over 2 weeks from placing the order. Special thanks to all involved on my install as everyone was polite, couteous, knew exactly what they were doing and dealt with any deviations quickly and efficiently. A very happy customer here with a neatly installed system that covers my needs and wants. Now if only you could do something about the amount of sun we get in the UK winter I'd give you 6 stars!

Right from our first meeting with their rep we felt they understood our requirements. The scaffolding crew were polite and very careful around our property and our neighbours, the scaffolding went up and removed on time. Then the panel installers came and we were delighted with the care and neatness of their work. They explained the app and the equipment to us clearly. All in all were delighted.

The company did a very good job, however the scaffolders were misinformed and had to come back another day as I had a conservatory on the back of the house. All the panels were added to the roof and the electrics connected in the same day. I had to prompt them with regard to the DNO certificate and now have to wait about seven weeks!

Great, clear and non-pushy

From start to finish this company were professional and all employees carried out their parts of the installation impeccably. The sales pitch was informative but not pushy. Living in a Grade II listed property we were unable to site panels on our South facing roof and chose to use a South East facing roof of an outbuilding which would not be visible from a road or other property. The App which monitors usage is very useful as it shows how much battery is available so that you can switch on appliances such as washing machines or dishwashers to take advantage of free power. Obviously the Spring and Summer months will create greater savings allowing power to go back to the National Grid but even on bright winter days there are savings to be made. I highly recommend this company who will give you all the information you need to help you make the right decision for your situation.

After spending many hours considering numerous offers from recently incorporated companies to take up their "bargains", I concluded that SCR appeared to tick my boxes - I have not been sorry. Their selection of the right PV panels, inverter and battery for my individual needs at a cost that fitted my budget beat all the others. Their availability for contact was excellent and the agreed timetable suited us both. As important was the fact that they kept to it! There were challenges, as any experienced person would expect, such as weather and digital bugs but the SCR team kept at it, kept to schedule and produced what I call a beautiful array on the roof and neat cabling inside the property. Despite heavy cloud, rain and no sun, the system was topping up the battery which was a satisfying experience.

Out of 5 companies contacted, South Coast Renewable Energy, (though not the cheapest) stood out as the most knowledgeable and helpful of them all. James Kelly went through our requirements without jargon and his recommendations completely altered (for the better) what we thought we would need and steered us away from inferior products and companies by the simple method of a link to Trust Pilot...which was a revelation. Once the decision had been made, Kieran, in charge of installation, set the wheels in motion. Three weeks later the installation went ahead. Special recognition should go to Aran the electrician who installed the system in a single day day and was on time and very tidy. Thanks also to the chap who did the external fixings. The scaffolders, who are contracted to the company, were also swift, efficient and a friendly bunch too. The 2 technicians that commissioned the system were patient in explaining the system. 5 Stars justified.

South Coast Renewable Energy were great to deal with from beginning to end. The quotation process was thorough beginning with a needs assessment, followed by a technical explanation of the system and finally a recommendation specked to my needs and expectations. Installation was seamless, on time and spotless. The system works very well and is delivering beyond expectations. Great team, great job!

We had a few different companies out to quote us for our solar panels. We had a visit from Rowan who was very knowledgeable and happy to help us make the best decision based on our electricity usage. Me and my wife both work from home so the difference our new system has made has been instant. The install team were clean and tidy and they were happy to show me how to use the app to monitor what our system is doing at any point in time. I would certainly recommend South Coast, although they were not our cheapest quote once I had been shown pictures and testimonials of some of their other recent installs we are really pleased we chose them! Also bought their maintenance package to cover my panels for the foreseeable which was a stand out that others didn’t offer!

We had a few quotes for solar to be installed on our roof. After talking to them they did not disappoint very knowledgeable from the start to finish. They explained all the ins and outs of the system and was installed within 3 weeks. The most important aspect was that they do not sub contract their work which me and my wife were struggling to find with other companies. Would highly recommend.
