I wish I'd read reviews before placing an order. I wanted delivery of a bouquet for my step mum's 90th birthday and erroneously thought this supplier was local to her (I'm from New Zealand and didn't have time for a heap of research) and would thus deliver on time.

They get 1 star because they did email me to say they couldn't deliver as didn't have the right flowers so I will give them that. But with it being a big time difference I had no time to sort something else out. Very disappointing.

Am sure there's better operators out there who deserve your hard earned dollars.

I needed an arrangement within a few hours for a memorial service, so I called to speak with a real person to confirm they could deliver. They took my order, took my credit card information, assured me it would be delivered by noon to my address, and then promptly sent me an email saying my order was cancelled due to supply issues. An absolute scam!

I ended up paying $20. more! Advertised as 45% off-RIPOFF (googled)- A bait & switch situation. The price you see, they now tell me, is the advertised price which includes the 45% off…then I’m told, to get that bouquet I have to choose a smaller size. Then the “service fee” is added:
A $49.99 bouquet + tax (approx $4+) + $20.+Service fee… Add it up yourself!

Agree with many of the complaints. Do not do business with this company. I also thought it was a local company and now find it is a flower broker based in Las Vegas who mask as a local vendor. I ordered a premium arrangement of lilies and roses for a family member who had just lost their mother and a brother within a few days of ea. other. I spent time with the agent who kept turning to another agent to get help to get the order correct. I wanted upgrade the premium size ($89) further with additional (fragrant) mixed yellow and white roses along with the white lilies. (to cost $164, almost double the premium cost). I expected up to 20 roses and 8 to 10 lilies. The total price with delivery was $197.11. That should buy a fairly nice arrange one would think! What was received was an arrangement with 10 roses and 4 lilies along with filler Alstroemeria and greens. It was pretty but far from a $200 arrangement. I complained to the company and am supposedly to receive a $40 refund. So I wound up paying about $160 for the $89 arrangement. Pretty lousy deal. Terrible business management and practice. See attached.

If I could give Sophie’s Stems zero stars, I would. I placed an order on Saturday for a funeral scheduled for the following Thursday. I received an official email confirmation, assuming everything was handled for such a sensitive and important occasion.
The funeral was set to begin on Thursday at 10:00 AM. At 9:30 AM—just thirty minutes before the service started—Sophie’s Stems sent me an email stating my order could not be fulfilled due to "supply issues." Because I was driving and preparing for a funeral, I obviously did not see the email until after the service was over. It was incredibly hurtful and embarrassing to realize there were absolutely no flowers there from me to honor my loved one.
To cancel a funeral order thirty minutes before the service is completely unacceptable. They had five full days to notify me of any "supply issues," which would have given me time to find another florist. Instead, their lack of communication and total disregard for their customers left me empty-handed at a memorial service.
Save yourself the heartbreak and stress during an already difficult time. Do not trust Sophie’s Stems with your important events. They are completely unreliable.

Last Saturday I ordered two "flower-arrangements" first via eMail. The answering mail told me - call us! So I called - 14 times - from Germany, since my arrival would be on Monday and I wanted the flowers to be delivered on Monday. It didn't work, because my German address on the bill would not been have accepted by the Sophie-Stem-System. So I arrived Monday morning in Indiana, ordered again with telephone the two arrangements and was charged 183,97 bucks. the flowers arrived in time, - BUT: I had ordered both arrangements in "premium large size" - but they were soooo tiny and small, - in Germany this would have cost a THIRD of what I paid for it in the US. So my advice to all who read this: Stay away from Sophie Stems!

Placed an order; they confirmed the order. Then they failed to deliver. They have not returned my money. They claimed to be a local business; however, they will not disclose their location. THIS IS A SCAM.

I placed two orders and both were cancelled last minute. I was suspicious when i was quoted the price on the original order because it was so low - compared to the quality shown in the photographed arrangements on the site. this prompted me to place a second order prior to my event to check them out. The second order was cancelled day of order. The event order was cancelled the day before the event and the order was placed 3 weeks in advance. I STRONGLY urge you to bypass this sham of a service.

Unexpected, high handling or service fees added at the very end of a phone or online transaction. This contradicts the advertised "free delivery". The order should have been $59 but it ended up being almost $85. When I called them to ask why she said "oh I'm sorry ma'am but we do add a service fee". I said that wasn't stated anywhere.
Despite having placed order WELL within the "order by for same day delivery", and the money being taken out-about 3 hours later I Get a voice mail that said it was unable to be delivered today as some of the flowers I ordered were out of stock and asked if they could deliver tomorrow. I called back and spoke to the same lady. She said they were out of stock AND their delivery vehicle had already left for the days deliveries. I told her to not deliver tomorrow, as they needed to be delivered today which is why I looked for a place that had same day delivery. She said they would issue a refund which of course could day 3-5 business days.

I ordered SophieStems’ Cheerful Sunlit bouquet in the deluxe size, and what was delivered was shockingly sparse and undersized compared with the deluxe arrangement pictured on their website. It did not appear comparable even to what I would expect from the standard size. I have photos of both the advertised bouquet and what was actually delivered, and the difference is significant.

I contacted SophieStems and explained that my concern was not about reasonable flower or color substitutions, it was about the overall size, fullness, and value of the arrangement being substantially different from what I purchased. Rather than replacing the arrangement or issuing a full refund, they cited their substitution policy and refunded only $34.82.

I responded that a substitution policy does not reasonably explain such a significant discrepancy and that this raises serious concerns for me about misleading advertising. I was also disappointed to discover that although SophieStems advertises “no delivery fee,” my order included a service fee of more than $20.

Between the bouquet received, the partial refund, the “no delivery fee” claim coupled with a sizable service fee, and the way my complaint was handled, I found the entire experience misleading and extremely disappointing. I will not order from Sophie Stems again.
