We love our new beds

We love our new beds. I no longer hurt myself getting my disabled husband in and out of the bed. The beds are comfortable. The communication with this company is amazing. They go over the top to make sure you know what's going on every step of the way. It was a five star experience except for the set up part of it. We got the beds in less than two weeks. The set up schedule changed twice. I think something happened that was unexpected and out of the control of the scheduler. He was very on top of things and did everything he could to make things happen. The set up came 4-5 days after the bed delivery. The only disappointment in product were the sheets. I had to iron them. I was not impressed with the quality and bought different sheets. If you are disabled this is a must have! It is so easy to get my husband in and out of bed. I feel blessed.

likes to swear at customers for giving honest reviews and voicing issues. no piece of technology is going to be perfect- may break or even have technical problems when being used regularly. instead of considering potential solutions - someone at the company came off as defensive and swearing.

Bed is extremely slow moving. Remote stopped working 2 weeks after having it. Ordered for my grandfather because he likes to sit up and he's very large (almost 400lbs). The area that your butt sits on is less than a foot wide, he felt like he was sliding out of the chair constantly. They gave a belt to wrap around, so I believe it's a common occurrence even though they won't tell you that.

Tried to call the number to return the bed and get SOME of the $4700 back, but they refuse to return. The 30 day return policy is "special circumstances". Make sure you know exactly what you're getting before you order because these people are not gonna help you if it isn't a good fit.

Feels like their business model is scamming the older generation.

UPDATE: Within an hour after posting this review, the owner text me threatening legal action if I did not remove the post. Looking at the other negative reviews, he seems to do the same song and dance on all of them.

When I responded via text to him explaining that there was no way for my grandpa to know if the bed worked for him without sitting in it and trying it, he proceeded to call me all sorts of things. I'll be posting the screenshots on social media. If this guy can't handle a review of a negative experience without resorting to name calling and degraded language, he should probably find another profession.

This is 100% a false review.
He is refusing to take down his review even though it's completely false and defamatory. He was not involved in the process of getting this bed for the parents. We had many hours of discussions with the parents prior to ordering and then we were on site for another 3 hours but for some reason the grandson decides to write a review acting like he has no idea who we are and that the bed they ordered is not what they were expecting.
We take defamation seriously over here. The grandson is the one using foul language with us because we are not happy with the fact that he is leaving a false review. Him calling us and berating the whole team here and using foul language is unacceptable.
Everything mentioned here is a complete lie!! We spent hours on the phone with the family going through every square inch of this bed to ensure it would be nothing less than a perfect fit. We were on site with this customer for 3 hours installing their bed and walking them through the features and functions of how the bed works. Part of that process is we have detailed videos during the installation to ensure that the bed is working in perfect condition. So now the grandson enters the picture who was never involved in this process and he decides to write a bad review even though he doesn't know anything about what happened. He's claiming the remote does not work which is a total lie. As far as the width of this rotating bed chair We spent a lot on the phone prior to ordering ensuring that the user of the bed was well aware that 36 in is the Twin XL Width for home care beds. Everything is clearly labeled on the site, not to mention this bed only comes in 36" wide twin XL. Within Home Care and hospital beds once these beds are set up installed and working perfectly, they are absolutely not eligible for return unless they're back in the original box. This is not unique to us. Every home care bed store on the planet has the same policy and it's universal within medical beds. Our hope is that the grandson will do the right thing and take this total scam review down. Also in the interest of transparency anyone that orders one of these beds sees on their invoice that there are no exchanges or returns once the bed is set up and working perfectly. The customer is then required to sign when the bed is delivered and then after the bed is set up and installed they also are required to sign again with their understanding that they are reminded that these beds are not eligible for return or exchange assuming the bed is set up and working perfectly which in this case it was. I can't think of a retailer that would spend numerous hours on site working with the family showing them how to use the bed as well as at least an hour before they ordered the bed on the phone going through every question they possibly could have. There are no surprises here so the grandson writing this review acting like they didn't know what they were getting is totally false. Buyer's remorse unfortunately is not recognized when it comes to home care beds. When somebody writes a false review like this we take legal action so we will give the grandson a couple days to take it down and get his wits sorted about. We take reviews like this beyond seriously and will take legal action considering every single thing he's saying here is false and a lie.

5 star Customer Service

Assembly instructions and videos were lacking, but two of us were able to assemble our new Upbed Independence and connect all its wiring in about 2 hours. The customer service rep that helped us with our order was awesome. He even responded to a text message on a weekend.

Pros and several Cons

The advertised app and bedtray are not available in USA (as seen in ad).The bed is very slow to rotate into positions. The remote for movement is very hard to see and difficult for elderly to operate. The button must be held down thru entire rotation process which is a difficulty for some people. The bed is extremely heavy/ place it in desired room space initially because takes 2-3 people to move on carpet. Rotation is good but not a lift chair position. Person can slide out of bed if not careful ( seatbelt is unwanted by owner). The mattress seems to fluff up in crease when bed is rotating. It will take some getting used to by elderly people. I am hoping that owner will become more fond of bed after a month or two....

Be sure to understand the return policy completely

Unfortunately, this ended up being a stressful and disappointing purchase. The shipment arrived late, so the delivery didn't start unto nearly 5pm and wasn't completed until about 9:30pm. There were some issues with the installer's truck, which slowed him down and left his assistant to assemble the bed solo. There was a lot of unsteadiness in the mechanism, and to their credit SS got the engineer that designed the bed on the phone with the installers to help correct the problems. Also, some of the bolts that were the wrong size, so the rails were not able to be installed until the next day.
After the assembly was complete we discovered that this bed was not a good match for my elderly dad. One main problem is that when the bed goes into the prone/sleep position the user's feet are hanging off the bed and so they have to scootch up using elbows/feet/ and strength, which was very difficult for my dad. He didn't sleep in it that first night, and I spent a quite a bit of time speaking to an SS rep regarding the concerns. We wanted to return the unit, but the Return Policy is basically none. The bed must be returned fully disassembled and in the original packaging, including the pallets. This isn't possible, especially when their installer discards the packaging, and it was wet from the rain.
Granted, some of the issues were outside of SS control (eg. the delivery driver leaving the boxes outside in the rain), but I also think they could do better by having some honest discussions with potential buyers to make sure this is a good option for the intended user, because once this bed is delivered it's yours. Since this is an on-line purchase there isn't a way to know if it's right for you until you try using it, by which time it's too late. We could not find any videos or sales promos that show a person going completely from prone to seated and visa-versa. They show portions of the process with edits, but not how a person who could benefit from this type of bed will actually use it. I think that would be really helpful for potential purchasers. My dad is giving it a go of using the bed, so hopefully he'll eventually find it useful, but unless you have a way to test this bed out in person, I would not recommend at this time.

We even spent an extra hour working with your family in getting acclimated to learning how to use the bed. On the return policy, universally and industry wide in homecare and hospital beds once they have been setup there are no returns. With that being said it's very rare that our customers are not able to acclimate in learning how to use the bed. Please continue to lean on your expert caregivers for direction. Misleading website and even worse customer service

Our experience with Slumber Source was not just terrible but traumatizing. Their website is misleading and vague about what you are paying for. They do not remove your old mattress but only move it to another room (so helpful). The bed we ordered turned out to be just a bedframe but all the online photos showed it with a mattress, all the options suggested a bed NOT a frame. When we called to see what could be done, it was the lack of customer service, solely doled out by the owner who was unprofessional to say the least. The language and way in which he spoke to us was shocking. He was adamant that they are right and you are wrong no matter what. They made my elderly mother so upset and intimidated that we could only semi-resolve the issue with the help of a male family friend. We ended up buying a mattress elsewhere to put on the very expensive bed frame that only raises up and down.

This is a fraudulent review and is not a real customer. Most likely a competitor with too much time on their hands. This review doesn't even make sense and this scam review is just typing nonsense. all mattresses are separate from the base of course, considering there are many mattress options. A completely fraudulent review.
