Unfortunately I am unable to leave 0 stars for this hotel but if I could I would. Emailed them one week in advance to ask about check in times and gym facilities and received a very curt response - I suppose I should've seen the writing on the wall there and cancelled and re-booked elsewhere. Arrived on the day and went to the room, not the best. A bit grubby. Walls paper thin and could hear everything in the next room. I could also hear everything outside the room with the creaky floorboards. Went to have a shower to get ready and go out, shower was stone cold and like standing under a dripping tap. I asked the receptionist whilst waiting for a taxi why the water was stone cold and got a shrug of the shoulders. I thought at one point I was at Fawlty Towers. Got back and went to bed. Early hours of the following morning I was woken to a noise outside and I genuinely thought they had workmen in. It was horrendous. Couldn't wait to get out of the place. Sent a complaint email to them 22nd March and not even had an acknowledgement, let alone a response. Avoid like the plague unless you like cold showers.
Not so good Murder Mystery evening at this hotel,
Booked this hotel for a Murder Mystery Night ( not cheap by any means)
room was clean etc but cold for the time of year ( heating was turned up but appeared pre-set to a certain temp,)
arrived late afternoon, so went to bar to get a drink and something to eat as both of us were hungry,
purchased a panini and chips along with a plate of chips with cheese on top,
with a pint of lager, £28.90 for this
went to the Murder Mystery evening,
got a pint of lager and a cider shandy, £13.50 for this,
As part of the evening we were all going to have a 3 course meal,
we had a starter of some sort of soup ( could not work out flavour to be honest)
we were then served a plate of fish and chips,
( chips were very cold and the fish batter was very over done and very dark and crispy) burnt i would say,
on arrival back home next morning my wife was very sick and i had a very upset stomach,
so be aware every one please.
certainly not 4 star !!
Very disappointed!
We paid £175 for an overnight relaxing stay on Saturday 6th December. It was far from relaxing. The noise in the room (118) from 7:30pm to 11:30pm was immense and the floor in the room was vibrating.
We complained to the receptionist on the way out, she apologised and suggested we emailed the hotel. We emailed the hotel on Sunday 7th December and have since had no reply.
We are both very disappointed with the whole experience.

A group of 18 of us visited for a 2 night spa break to celebrate a 70th birthday.
We all had a fantastic time.
Judit was our event coordinator and planned everything perfectly and made sure that our weekend ran smoothly. She was so helpful.
The bedrooms were huge and had everything we needed. We had quite a few of the executive contemporary rooms. And it was great that 3 or 4 adults could all share a big room - made of much more fun on a girls weekend away.
Every meal was lovely. We had zero complaints - which for such a large group who had 6 meals over the long weekend that’s a big accomplishment! Well done to the chef!
The spa treatments were all lovely, again not one complaint!
The swimming pool area was very nice, although the pool was a little cold and there were limited loungers but we were a very big group and there were a lot of other people using the facilities.
Every single member of staff we met were lovely and extremely helpful. Special shout out to Chrissy, Laura and Millie who went above and beyond to look after us.
We booked the greenhouse room for private dining one night and it was perfect for the size of our group.
Great stay and would 100% return
Just stayed at Sketchley Grange with…
Just stayed at Sketchley Grange with our dog all great until our £12:50 per person breakfast which was disgusting. Dirty areas and cook buffet was so dry to be inedible with gray scrambled eggs. Not 4 Star not even 1. Really disappointed
The New and Improved Sketchley Grange!
There was once a time when reviews about Sketchley Grange Hotel were less than positive (and perhaps justifiably so, very sadly). However, my recent visit was a delight, because it was a superb example of a business responding to its customers favourably and adopting feedback in a constructive way.
You made fantastic improvements in almost every area, from the refreshed décor and updated restaurant menu to your wonderfully improved spa facilities. And nothing was too much trouble for your excellent staff. My group and I were genuinely sorry we did not arrange to stay longer, because it was such a brilliant visit and over all too soon. We LOVED LOVED LOVED every minute of it.
It’s a simple truth - consumers want value for their money. How refreshing for you to appreciate the fact that, without ‘we the visitor’, there is no ‘you the hotel’! It’s too bad that some companies forget this very basic principle - that good old-fashioned professionalism and client care goes a very, very long way. Instead of being dismissive, you turned the negatives into such excellent positives. For that, you will get my time, money – and, most of all, my RESPECT – every time. Sketchley Grange is back!
Thank you again for a wonderful stay. It will not be long before we plan another visit, and it will be an absolute pleasure to visit you again. For all your marvellous changes, you have proven that you are at least one enterprise that deserves my money and my custom. Thank you for listening.
TEN stars for you!
Helpful staff and lovely hotel
Helpful staff. Very clean and tidy hotel with excellent pool/spa/steam room facilities. The bedroom was very nice being very clean and well decorated with good size bathroom. The only complaint was that the double bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together which for couples who sleep all over each other not ideal, but comfortable enough. Dinner was pretty good...breakfast was really nice - especially bearing in mind it was a buffet service . Good quality ingredients and plenty of choice of hot food, fruit and cereals.
Not worth the money
Hotel is over rated more like 3star than 4 ! room was an ok size I noticed had lot marks over the walls and stains on the carpets, breakfast was ok just your basic cafe bacon and sausages no fried eggs were served pretty much basic.
Dinner was well over priced food was not at a high standard cheap ingredients I had a homemade burger taste like a frozen burger from Icelands with tiny bowel of chips £15 girlfriend had homemade lasagna hardly no meat meat inside cheap ingredients charging 5star prices.
Food quality was poor not worth the money at all oh and spa wasn’t great they charge £10 to use there spa facilities surly this should be included in the price over priced over rated sorry not for me
Breakfast Party
I have to stay the breakfast staff were so friendly and polite. They reserved an area for our large party to sit together and couldn’t be more helpful. The food was plentiful and hot.
Steve, Emma,Chrissy and Luigi are as asset to your Hotel
We came last night for our Christmas…
We came last night for our Christmas works party & we all had the best time. Special mention to Joshua R & Alex at the bar who were fabulous! They were so friendly and we had a good laugh with them. They were really pleasant considering how rushed off their feet they were. The only thing letting the night down was the food. Whilst really tasty, the main did not come out until 20:50 & the dessert 21:40 which we all found quite late to be eating & by this point we all just wanted to have a dance. The room was beautiful & the DJ was good. Drinks very overpriced but to be expected at a hotel. We’d definitely come back here again. Thanks! The Pavers ladies.
Had a great 2 night stay
Had a great 2 night stay. Chloe was on reception and very helpful polite with great attitude. The room we had was a suite and was really big with a large comfy sofa. We had a shower and bath and the bed was comfy. On arrival we ordered sandwiches which were really fresh and came with crisps and salad. The food in the evening was great and couldn’t fault it. Over the 2 days we met Millie one of the waitresses who had a lovely personality friendly and made you very welcome. Always had a smile and a chat with you which is rare today. The swimming pool and hot tub was great. Will definitely return for another stay.

Stayed one night for my sisters bday on 11th October 2024. Room was ok stained mattress and stains on carpet, rooms needs a refresh. I was going to complain and now I wish I did. Used the spa facilities and went back to the room to shower and realised the shower was not working properly, not great flow of water just a trickle and not hot water, just lukewarm. I booked this break as a gift for my sister nd was left really disappointed. Lady on the front desk was not helpful and needs some lessons on customer service. Overall really disappointed, Has put me off from going there again. I spoke to reception to inform them it was a stay for a birthday celebration but I got nothing, no advice, no suggestions or no help.
Spa and afternoon tea…
I have just returned from a fab spa day at Sketchley grange hotel.
We booked a spa day and 25 minute treatments and traditional afternoon tea.
We were given bathrobes, towels and lockers on arrival with a warm welcome from Fiona.
Lovely quality , soft and fitted very well.
It was really warm and pleasant by the pool side.
Relaxing, lovely athmosphere.
We had our afternoon tea at the main bar , Chrissy served us on the day.very professional and made us feel welcome, another staff member Luigi also acknoledged us, he just checked if we are having a nice day . Both staff members were ever so lovely.
The food was really nice. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes with scone jam and cream .
Personally i think the food was a bit too much for 2. They also offered it to be packed if we wish to take them home.
We also had massages booked with Abby and Laura. Lovely girls and the massage was incredible. I almost fell asleep. The products they use smell sooo good.
We have used most of their facilities on site apart from the gym . Very clean , friendly staff around.
Special thank you to Kate with helping with arranging. It was a last minute birthday treat and my very first spa day
Highly reccomend , we will be back.
Avoid Avoid Avoid
Our stay at Sketchkey Grange Hotel and Spa was unfortunately disappointing. The room we were given was outdated, and cobwebs surrounded the bathroom door, prompting my husband to clean up before we could settle in. The shower emitted a loud, unsettling noise that frightened our newborn, making it challenging for us to use it. When we raised our concerns to the receptionist, we were met with an unhelpful response, being told to endure the situation until the next morning.
They were unwilling to give us a different room with the excuse that there was none and when we pressed, the supervisor said they could change this for us. In short, we had to leave and drive back that late to our home.
Overall, the experience fell short of our expectations, particularly in terms of cleanliness and guest comfort. It's crucial for hotels to ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, and unfortunately, our experience did not reflect this standard during our time at Sketchkey Grange Hotel and Spa."
I will do my best to read reviews next time before booking any hotel in future.
Excellent service and spa facilities
Excellent service and spa facilities. I was treated to a birthday surprise today in Romans Health and Leisure Spa and I absolutely loved it! Fantastic relaxation and I'd also recommend the mediterrean vegetable panini lunch in the hotel! We were allowed to go to the restaurant from the Spa in the robes provided which I thought was a nice touch. I will certainly return to this place. The staff are really helpful and friendly.
Restaurant staff Emma and Clare amazing but spa staff rude
Had an overnight stay at this hotel. Disappointed with the spa as had treatment booked but wasn’t allowed to use the spa. Showers in room are rubbish with very low pressure. Restaurant staff are amazing especially Claire and Emma who made our stay enjoyable. They went above and beyond.
Mothers Day Lunch
Invited for Mothers Day Lunch with members of my Family. It was a lovely experience with friendly and attentive staff. Offered choice of Mothers day Gift. I chose the scented candle which is lovely. The restaurant was busy and well staffed. The food was delicious as well as being hot and very well presented. Starters, Main Course and desert was absolutely perfect. I have a big Birthday coming up and will be booking Sketchley Grange for this forthcoming celebration.
Lovely stay
Stayed here last night. The hotel itself is a very picturesque one inside and out. Hotel staff very polite and helpful. Room itself was roomy, bathroom large with walk in shower. The shower was nice but lacked power. Complimentary soap, shower gel, hair shampoo and lotion. Hot water a problem for sink. You need to run it a long time before it gets warm. Heating in room which is mainly controlled by hotel but you can put it up and down. TV is very small for size of room. Bed great size and comfy with quality pillows. Black out curtains . Sockets either side of bed, with charging points. Complimentary tea coffee sugar etc. Room clean and nicely decorated. Has safe, iron and hair dryer. However, no plug socket near full length mirror so difficult to dry and style hair.
Evening food was amazing as made to order but breakfast disappointing. Fried eggs hard, sausage and bacon overcooked and hard. On the plus side, plenty of choice with fruit, cereals, pastries and juices.
Spa facilities were OK. Steam room and sauna small for size of users and pool cold. Spa needs fixing with missing tiles. Gym small but has everything you need. Towels are complimentary if you are a guest. All in all a lovely stay and will definitely be coming back.

Stayed for one night and so glad it was just one night. First impressions are very impressive. Nicely decorated and friendly staff.
Rooms are very outdated and had no hot water in sink basin. Had to use water from bath to wash my face etc.
Heating in the room was non existent even with putting Air Con up to 32 degrees all night. Hardly any heat coming out of it on a cold night.
Fantastic place
Fantastic place. The staff here are a really lovely bunch and genuinely level up with their warmth. The room was fantastic and I had two nights of solid sleep.
Breakfast was top notch, full English and a coffee. Winner \o/
