I completed the course last week, and found it very informative, building on my own knowledge and understanding. Throughout the course I was also able to learn new skills of particular use within my job role such as setting up primary control through closed traverses. Matty was great from start to finish, reflecting on personal experiences from his time in industry, as well as answering any of the groups job specific questions.

I recently completed the CITB Assured Setting Out and Surveying – 5 Day Course, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience. The course content is comprehensive and covers a wide range of essential topics for anyone involved in construction, from civils and earthworks to buildings and reinforced concrete.

Accreditation and Continuous Assessment: The course is fully certificated, with qualifications uploaded to the CITB Construction Training Register immediately after completion. Levelling and Setting Out: We mastered the use of tape measures for setting out, transferring TBMs, and setting up profile boards for various applications.
Total Station Training: We learned to set up total stations, carry out calibration checks, install control points, and perform a range of surveying tasks including topographical surveys and setting out points for construction.
Robotic Total Station Proficiency: The advanced training covered setting positions using control points, creating local coordinate systems, and managing data efficiently. The training was delivered professionally and very well structured. Unlike some courses, this had an adequate amount of practical training which is very important considering the nature of the subject. The trainer has an extensive knowledge of the subject and was able to answer all my questions.

Fun and informative course, Matt did a great job of explaining everything from leveling using a dumpy level to setting out using a total station. At first I was apprehensive over the maths however Matt explained it in an easy and understandable way.

Great course covering relevant site engineering techniques.,Well structured providing lots of practical experience using latest instruments from initial survey techniques to the various apps that can be used with the total station.

Completed the setting-out with Matt on the 16th February 2024. I’m a qualified Civil Engineer but wanted to brush up on my skills of robotic total stations due to being out the setting-out industry for a long time. Matt is an excellent teacher and worked through everything with the inexperienced students. Matt certainly covers everything required for setting-out for civil engineering & construction.

I have been an Engineer for 13 years but this training opened up my mind like a recent graduate. The trainer, Matt is a good listener and explains clearly. Would definitely recommend for both experienced and graduate engineers.

Its a great learning experience, Surveying is the only language through which the land speaks, and only skilled surveyors can understand its whispers.
