WARNING: Fraudsters. I ordered two items at $13.94 each, and they added on more merchandise, plus unwanted insurance and warranty, bringing my bill to $140! Their customer service line is voicemail only, and they don't answer emails. I had to go to my bank, file a fraud claim and change my credit card to prevent any further fraud.

Sierramadre is making available to us essential products; the water straw and sleeping bags. Customer service is excellent.

I cannot say enough about this company! I ordered the BOGO puffle with initial concerns about a Facebook link (I typically will not use them). After reassurance and being provided options from Sierra Madre, I ordered through the link. My order arrived quickly. I used my puffles for the first time on my hammock and I love it! I used one as a underquilt and one as a top quilt. I was kept warm, actually one night a little too warm, but I just kicked my feet out it was perfect. The puffle is very soft. The puffles stuff right in their sack and were easy to use. I can ditch the sleeping bag now. I would 1000% use this company again. I am actually awaiting delivery of my 40 degree now!

We used the sleeping bags on a camping trip in the woods. It kept u warm and comfortable.

Short answer:

Decent if not perfect quality and functionality at a great price during the two for one sale. Vastly more comfortable than a mummy bag when used as a top quilt, but too narrow to use comfortably snapped up as a sleeping bag, even with the expander.

Long answer:

Pros:

Great deal when purchased during the two for one sale; functions perfectly and easily with a hammock as an under- or top-quilt with the included suspension cords; snaps up with a second quilt to make an even warmer blanket; the fabric is very comfortable; and does it all with vegan synthetic insulation, which was a requirement for me.

Cons:

I had a snap fall off before making it out camping, which can happen (customer service was very helpful and promptly sent out a replacement snap which I will have to take somewhere to have installed by someone with the necessary tools, which is an inconvenience and an added expense); synthetic insulation is heavier and bulkier than down (which is a trade off I was aware of and accepted for ethical and financial reasons); I bought the expander to allow the quilt to function as a sleeping bag, but I found it to be a tight and awkward retrofit (the quilt would still need to be a lot wider to function comfortably as a sleeping bag when folded in half lengthwise and snapped up with the expander, and the expander is itself relatively bulky); the accompanying compression sack has a soft canvas lip that isn't quite rigid enough to not come undone.

Bottom line:

If you are down-averse (as I am, for both ethical and financial reasons), this is a very functional piece of equipment at a great price (when purchased during the two for one sale). The many snaps are convenient, but are also that many more components that can (and, in my case, did) fail. For that reason, and the overly narrow, snapped-up sleeping bag mode, I felt 4 out of 5 stars was appropriate. That said, one snap failing won't significantly decrease the functionality of an otherwise great top- / underquilt).

Be careful when ordering …I have 2 reoccurring charges after ordering the sleeping bags

Sierra Madre is a great company with quality products. I have purchased their Emergency Sleeping Bags, Emergency Shelters, Pure Water Drinking Straws, Utility Knife and Emergency Fire Blankets. All were high quality. The Emergency Sleeping Bags and Shelters come very compact and can be stashed anywhere. I have all these products in all of my Emergency Backpack Grab and Go bags and my glove box. I really like being prepared and Sierra Madre has helped me do that. Another thing I liked is their customer service is great, and you talk to actual humans! Friendly humans! Very rare these days. They are happy to answer any questions. I'm very happy with all my purchases. A+

I placed an order in March and like MANY people here, I have received nothing. No email updates whatsoever. I get inundated with emails about their latest products but nothing about my order. When I go to my order and check it -all it says is “In Transit”. In transit where? Delivery date? No news at all. Perhaps it will arrive by Christmas, if at all.

Ordered from this company and paid for priority shipping.
Received email with delivery date. Didn't receive my order.
Emailed to ask if there was a way to track my order. No reply. Sent two further emails which have not been acknowledged and still no order. 😡

Ordered emergency bags for my family. They were very reasonably priced and arrived quickly. Thankfully have not needed them but it is comforting to know we all have one.

It was warm tho not tested outdoors. Beaded sweat just with shorts and undershirt. Could be wider around opening as I am a restless sleeper. Crinkling sound woke me up on occasion. It's not breathable and had to get out occasional for air. Stretched first night small spot but accidentally put finger through it following night but still strong and toasty warm. Ample leg room as short. Appreciate to have in case of dire emergency! I like that it rolls into a small bundle and so lightweight Thank you.

No complain on the products or customer service team´s follow up. Delivered to Mexico.

I received an order for a jacket that was too small. I have tried repeatedly to get them to supply the return authorization they say they require for returns and noone will respond despite multiple attempts. Please don't tell me it possibly went to spam either because I've checked daily. This company does not have a customer service team and is a SCAM. I would not recommend ordering from them.

The company is a scam and Better Business Bureau gives them an "F". They have no customer service. The same items can be found on Amazon 9x cheaper. I placed an order for four items and decided to cancel. I sent a total of 3 emails and 2 phone calls where a ticket was created to cancel the order. Three days later there is no response and I get another email from the company that the item sent. They had enough time to find, pack the item, and send it but not check their email for cancelation. Their policy: you can cancel before they send it otherwise you have to pay for return shipping AND the original shipping. What a scam.

I volunteer with the homeless in my town. I ran across these sleeping bags and bought 10. The people ate them up!!! They liked that they rolled up to the size of a soda can and can fit in your pocket! They were warm at night! I just ordered more!!

I am so frustrated with this company. I have called numerous times and keep getting a voicemail.
My 80 year old mother thought she was buying a buy one get one free puffle bag but after checking out she noticed it charged her for two orders. She immediately sent an email and got a response that the order would be corrected. They charged her and sent two orders. I stepped in to help and was able to get information on how to return these unopened puffle bags. The returns were accepted and signed on December 5th. My mother has not gotten her refund and once again I am trying to contact the company. After three calls and an email I got one text message response on Christmas day that said..

Hi, this is ____ from Sierra Madre, and we are just responding to a call you made that we missed. Please let us know if you need any assistance. You may also email us to ______

I sent a text back and called and still no response. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? They have all the items they charged my mom for but have not refunded her the $400+ they owe her.

I have ordered a lot of product from Sierra Madre in the last few months. They have always been accurate on the products ordered and prompt on the shipping. I have found that the quality of their products is above standard and works exactly as described. Thank you Sierra Madre
