Was assisted by Ryan. Very helpful and patient. Would recommend seeing Ryan during your visit. Excellent customer service.
Do not rent here unless you want a long rental period. Avoid unless you are good at resisting bullying staff who say they are busy, but actually have nothing to do.
1. Misleading adverts
2. I was told everything was done online or on the app. But if you want to cancel you have to write a letter or email. I still haven’t found the email address.
3. I was told there was no minimum rental period and the prices were shown per week. Still you must pay the rent per month.
4. Online it said you should come in the opening hours the first time and if that is not possible you must attend within. Still I was called and pressurised into making an appointment because they were so busy, even if I very clearly stated that I it was not convenient.
4. When I came to the office at an appointed time to sign in I was the only person there for the whole 1/2 hour it took them to do the paperwork and there were 3 employees. This is far from busy in my opinion.

The facility is great, but much of the information is misleading and intentionally unclear.
The facility is great, the app and using the facility is great. The staff and website on the other hand, the website is cryptic READ EVERYTHING, the unit you get may not be the size you wanted it also will not be the shape you expect. The use of annotated diagrams is misleading as they will be any combination of dimensions to meet the size you pay for, triangular potentially. Some elements may be phrased as if they will be refunded. Notice needs to be given as to the removal of your belongings 15days ahead and not to staff in person it must be written via email even if staff say otherwise you will be charged. Pricing in the website is broken down into weeks even though there is no option to pay weekly which is misleading if monthly is the only option pricing should be displayed as such. I recommend asking any questions via email to have receipts for your queries. Essentially you may not get what you expect you will almost certainly not get what you initially pay for, you may pay for longer than you expect and you cannot trust the word of a staff member in person with and query you may have. Be safe keep receipts and ask about any curiosity you may have via email.

Exploitative Pricing with Unsustainable Hikes
I’ve been renting a storage unit since March 2023, starting at £130/month. In just under two years, the price has skyrocketed: £160 (Aug 2023), £200 (May 2024), and now £240 from Feb 2025. That’s an average increase of 23% every 9 months—far exceeding inflation, income growth, or any reasonable cost justification. This pricing strategy feels exploitative and entirely unsustainable for long-term customers.

Disgraceful Service – Avoid Shurgard Bow at All Costs!
Absolutely appalled by the service at Shurgard Bow. After being a loyal customer for almost two years, I visited to help my ex-partner secure a unit as she’s moving out. The staff member, Benil, was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Instead of showing us the storage options, she gave us couple of numbers and dismisslively told us to find them ourselves.
When we asked about the advertised £1 promotion, she accused us of “gaming the system” and began interrogating us about our personal lives—completely irrelevant and invasive. She even refused to give us the unit we wanted, arrogantly claiming, “This is my store, and I can do whatever I want.”
Her dismissive attitude was a disgrace, topped off by her saying, “You’re complaining because you didn’t get your way.” No wonder the place has so many empty units—this is how they treat paying customers.
Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. Shurgard Bow’s staff clearly don’t value customers or basic professionalism.

Although I was happy to start with this company but I have went and taken ownership of my storage, given them my ID and had Covid from following day and someone called Benil decided to start threatening me to close my storage for not using my storage place I guess? What kind of stupidity is this that without checking system they are allowed to send such warning to customers? These kind of people shouldn’t be allowed to spoil any companies name.

Very straight forward. Fast and easy, access until late in the evening help to move in/out stuff after works hours. Cubicle very clean and easy to find. Overall, very nice experience!
Increased what I was paying by double
Increased what I was paying by double. Both increases were made without warning. I have said I’ll remove all my stuff from storage before the next month and they refused forcing me to still pay, apparently I need to give a month notice to leave but they don’t give notice for rent increase? Absolutely awful service! Read the small print, very sneaky.

Really awful experience - had to leave off storage before flight. Access codes weren’t working.
Security company which you have to call said they can’t help. Told to come back at 6am when staff would be there. Came back at 6am - no one in office.
App refused to open for 45 mins - no manual override system.
Long time tenant said app does same thing all the time.
Nearly missed my flight. Emailed Bow office no one came back.
Would not recommend alone based on their technology it is a nightmare

Misleading Service and Poor Customer Support
I had a very disappointing experience with Shurgard Storage Company,
Misleading Advertising:
They advertise "full self-service storage," but I was not told I needed to be present in person before 6 pm. The online booking included facial and ID verification, which misled me into thinking I could access my unit independently. I paid for everything online and received all the information, including the code, storage number, and contract and my identity was verified by uploading my ID.
Poor Communication:
When I arrived, the office was closed and no manager was available. I received an email at 6 pm telling me to return the next day, causing significant inconvenience and extra charges from my moving van.
Unauthorized Charges:
So, I gave back the lock I found in my unit, but then I got charged for it without even agreeing to it. This happened 14 days after I returned the lock on the day I was moving my stuff out. The manager told me I wouldn't be charged for it and even sent me an email to confirm that.
Unprofessional Handling:
Their response to my complaints has been dismissive and unhelpful. The entire experience has been frustrating and time-consuming.
I wouldn't recommend Shurgard to anyone looking for reliable storage. They need to improve their communication and customer service, I will never use this service again.
Horrible customer service to another customer!
My first interaction with this female employee (Shurgard, Bow) was cold and not friendly at all.
Going through my activation of my new storage unit,fast and too much information at once.
Then I witness the worst customer service I have ever seen when I came back from my storage unit.
Same female employee was talking to a customer, who didn't pay her storage unit bill for 4 months. She was almost shouting, belittling her and being super aggressive in the reception area. Pretty rude,eventhough the lady was in the wrong for not paying her bill. You should never talk to a customer like that.
If she can do it to her, she can do it to me or any other customer. Horrible first impression.
I am so taken back from that experience, I can't even review my own experience. Black cloud over it all.

Cancelled my reservation
I had a terrible experience with Shurgard Self Storage Bow. They canceled my reservation before the booking went live, which resulted in the contract starting the day after. Their miscommunication made me feel unsafe about their service. Despite emailing them an official complaint and requesting a refund, I received no response. It's unbelievable that a service with such poor communication and customer service could have a 4.9-star rating on Google. To top it off, I was still charged for the first month's rent and additional fees even though I never moved in. I will never use their service again and absolutely won't recommend it to anyone.
