At humm, we do Buy Now Pay Later a little differently. Instead of just focusing on the little joys in life, we want to allow our customers to fund whatever they need, both big and little.

Absolute disaster . Horrible and nasty experience with Humm. No wonder they closed down in NZ! Thank God for that. Can't get hold of them. The live chat is useless with someone asking the same details over and over and then just closing chat box! Pathetic service if you manage to get hold of someone over the phone!

Humm is trash. I've provided them with information once before to close my account and they're asking again after a year and a half later for information in order to close my account. I wasn't aware it was still open actually until they sent out an email about a reduced credit limit. Humm has put me off using their services right off the bat. Get it together will you.
This is the biggest SCAM I've EVER heard of!! My limit is being reduced after not missing payments and at times paying EARLY. BUT if I WANT to use more than the new $500 limit I can still get it under BIG THINGS were you CHARGE me a $20 establishment fee and $2.50 a month to USE that service??!!! See ya humm, you suck, will stick with Layby, Afterpay and Zip - I don't need you. And I have been a regular user but I'm not stupid and can smell your B.S a mile off.
So this week Humm NZ sent out emails lowering spending limits, their facebook page suggests this has happened to a lot of their customers.
Sadly whoever wrote their email to customers had no ability to explain why or what was happening, instead they worded it in such a way as to imply the customer was having a limit lowered because of their behaviour on the account. This seems to be untrue in every case on Facebook as well as my own, never even late for a payment let alone missing one.
The facebook page is now full of contrived replies to customers telling us this was a group wide decision affecting many customers and that it isn't personal at all and that perhaps the wording was not the best and that the feedback would be passed onto the relevant team.
Sure, we all know the BNPL space has been getting flack, mostly driven by banks i've no doubt, but this is no way to treat 'valued customers' as they call us in their replies.
Perhaps the people at Humm aren't aware of just how many others there are in the BNPL space, and that they offered customers nothing extraordinary, treating people in this way will i'm sure lead to others like me electing to just not use humm and to cancel the account entirely - afterall, who wants to support a business that treats its customers with that level of distain.
So yeh, i'm trying to cancel the account, they have asked me to email them every imaginable form of personal information available that would identify me, which of course who is dumb enough to do that on an unsecured email, and what company with any sense of data security would actually ask a customer to do this.
Avoid Humm, they clearly don't value their customers and they clearly also do not value your personal information or data security.
My credit limit was dropped with no explanation. I was two days late with a $13 payment and paid it straight away as soon as I realised. They dropped my credit limit down and when I questioned a lady from customer service as to why this had been done she could not answer me and said it was an internal assessment system decided by management. If there was some justification for the decision then fine but there was nothing. She didn't know. Humm need to have better systems in place, with clear explanation for their processes.
Humm gave me a credit limit of $1000 I have been keeping up accurate payments ahead of schedule and always paid on time now they treat me like I don't pay my accounts they reduce my credit limit by 50% because of this stupid panic and sorry CCFA is rubbish and excuse to any income ratio and sounds like I can't afford my payments so you know what Humm I will pay you off and you can lose my business and respect and I will cancel my account when paid you off and you can go back to Australia and treat your own people like dirt don't come to NZ and treat me like a bad payer I will hope more people will cancel from your services because I will after all I pay bills and I don't care less if you cancel my account right now seeing how personal this is totally discrinate and a shame to you Humm hope you see this message and take a look at how your customers feel rather than treat them like low income scum

I have been waiting 10 days for a refund after being told it will take 3 to 7 business days.Poor customer service when I phone to chase this up.
Unusual way of doing things, I won't be using again.

DO NOT USE!!!! So hard to get through customer service. Been on hold for an hour to sort out my account that had been in default since they had changed their name to "Humm". Worse Buy and Pay Later experience ever.

I went into store to purchase item but the Humm system declined and froze my account. Got call back 30 mins later to say go on line store can’t do over counter ( not so). Wrong later as account still frozen to be told I already had 5 transactions so could not do anymore even though balance showing plenty of available credit. Paid one off while on phone and told could take 48 hours to clear and could not quarantee they would approve my purchase. !!! Never been late and always paid in advance. Five transactions. Issue should be where you can see it not have to struggle to find it. Nothing was supposed to have changed only the name? BEWARE OF THIS SCHEME.

Had a few hiccups when I first signed up a few years ago - so I would get paid around 2am on a Tuesday and they would take out the money early than that on the Tuesday so would promptly charge me a late fee even before I woke up! So I had to constantly ring them and then they would still insist I pay the late fee which was absurd!
Then they started taking it out later in the day and it all seemed to resolve itself …
….until a month ago. I make sure everything gets paid on time and my credit limit was increased. I feel pregnant and needed a cot and pushchair so decided to apply for ‘big things’ to purchase these as they were over 1K together. The process kept glitching and returning me to the page and I just gave up. I got a phone call from the company I was trying to buy the items from who explained that many of their customers were having issues trying to use humm and asked if I would like to co to use my purchase without humm and I explained I couldn’t really because I needed to pay the items off. Then I log into my humm account and my available credit is now at $0 and I can no longer purchase anything using humm so I gave humm a call who told me they would look into it. Never heard from them! I rang back and they said they would need to call back. Then again never heard from them. I could still access my account to pay my current purchases and view them but couldn’t use humm for another purchase. Once the purchase was paid off humm deleted my account. I rang them and asked why and the person told me ‘I’m not allowed to tell you why but I can tell you that you are no longer allowed to purchase from humm or have another account with us’ … are you kidding me? I have done absolutely nothing wrong here, all I did was try and apply for big things and it glitched from the stores end and now I’m being treated like I’ve done something wrong and my account gone and future services are no longer allowed. I was upset that no one could give me an answer as to why … they said a supervisor would ring back … no one rang me of course but I did get an email saying they tried to calm which is not true and that I no longer meet their criteria to use their services! And they won’t tell me why! So as far as I’m concerned if they want to play those sorts of games they can shove their services! And I recommend that nobody use them!

From a purchasing perspective, they're fine. They work as intended. But if anything goes wrong with your account (i.e., technical issue purchasing, change of payment card details, update contact information), their customer service is the epitome of abysmal. I've never experienced customer service as bad as Humm's. You can never get through to them, emails are left unreturned, phone calls are not answered, but they called me 4 times in a single day to follow up a $10 payment overdue by one day (which was paid that day - it would not have shown up due to processing delays).
On a separate note, I get the impression that Humm operates a reasonably predatory lending model, as I personally with whom Humm entered into a credit agreement when those people were suffering financial hardship. While I understand people have a responsibility to only borrow what they can afford, it is a travesty for organisations like Humm to provide services that will not improve or even maintain an individual's fiscal position. Hopefully, the New Zealand government will stamp down on buy-now/pay-later as they did with loan sharks because it's negatively impacting what was already an abject economic atmosphere, and capitalising on the ignorance and ineptitude of our acutely uneducated population.
Signed up for humm no problem then I tried to make my first purchase & was asked to provide I.d to verify my identity which I did. Then the system decided not to accept my I.d or my card number which I definitely typed in correctly & then they deleted my account & blocked me because of 'fraud concerns'. I've also had a few friends have this exact same issue.
I have had constant problems with this site. I'm constantly being charged late fees for payments that have already been paid. I have contact customer service multiple times and instead of looking into it, or helping in anyway they pretty much say it's just my fault and I need to fix it. I'm in complete shock at how rude they are!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM HUMM
I got blocked from using my humm because I used a different card that my partner and I have a joint account in. Most restrictive and worst buy now pay later I have ever come across
Such a poor service. I wanted to apply for the big things pre-credit but was unable to for some reason. The people over the live chat said they couldn't help me if I was declined, even though my bank and weekly earnings cover much more of what I was buying. Truly a horrible service, I only wanted to use it because PBTech had a promotion with them. Just wasted my time trying to save some money, and it got to nowhere. This vs something like Afterpay, afterpay is much more simple and straightforward, this is an awful service.

Then I absolutely recommend humm. Perfect since they ban everyone in your household since you make your payments on time.
Customer service has a voice scrambler so it sounds like you're talking to a drug dealer rather than a representative from a legitimate business - im glad I gave my information to him!
If you're in the lower class and struggle to make ends meet I absolutely recommend Humm - the less you pay on time the more that they make, all out of your exploitation! Your kids didn't need food on the table anyway.
Edit: are you guys stupid you guys are dodgy. If i call your number I'm gonna wake up in a dark alley with both of my kidneys missing
