Very simple online portal to use both for applying for travel insurance and completing a claim on return. I smashed the screen on my mobile while in Oz. Rang the international number, answered quickly, the customer service representative was polite, knowledgeable and very helpful. Also empathetic to my situation.
On return to NZ, got all the paperwork, receipts etc I needed and submitted the claim. Still waiting to here back but process so far has been seamless.

I've never purchased traveler's insurance before, but I heard they may ask for it during customs while traveling to NZ (they didn't). We also knew that we wanted to go on some adventures.
Thankfully, we didn't need to use it, but the process of getting coverage was quick and easy. It made us aware that we should have this extended coverage aside from our personal coverage, just in case something goes wrong outside of our coverage.
We almost had to use it. Cyclone Vaianu was heading toward NZ as we were about to fly out. Our plane was delayed, we were put on stand-by, told we were grounded, and that we would have to stay. If we had, we would have been in the cyclone. Thankfully, we were the last two accepted on the next flight out.
What I did learn is that we should carry travelers' insurance for at least a few days after our trip is supposed to end, for instances like this.
Although this is an extra expense, it's still affordable, and now I also feel it's a must if we're traveling internationally.

Easy to apply, give me peace of mind

Took travel insurance out with Southern Crossp as recommended by Moneyhub. Very happy i did as i found them to be the cheapest and communication with them was the best.

Relevant questions asked to ascertain the necessary information so that I was totally covered on my recent overseas trip. Nice friendly staff interaction. Would highly recommend.

Straightforward process. We didn't have any incidents but we had peace of mind that if we did we had chosen great travel insurance. Sign up and sign in portal was straightforward as well.

bought the annual travel plan because travelled twice over the year. It was easy to add a country and there was no additional charge which I appreciate.

I thought that the claim process did take longer than I expected. Would have liked to have received the claim decision with in a week.

Travel insurance is a must now. These days anything and everything is uncertain leading to pre plans only covering so much. Having peace of mind is necessary so I can concentrate on my travel & it's purpose.
