SUMMARY

PROS:
We received a very fair quote from Save With Solar (turning down larger suppliers that were prepared to better it).
There was great communications before and during the installation where Jake promptly answered any questions we had.
Scaffolding and Solar installation teams were polite, friendly and efficient in their work.

CONS:
No Handover Pack was produced, even though it was stated in the contract.
When I checked, the NAPIT Building Regs certificate I was sent had a reference number for someone else's address.
The two west-facing panels (changed from three because an extra one could be fitted on the east-facing side) into one of the PV strings is barely enough to meet the minimum voltage for the inverter.

THE REVIEW

Save With Solar installed a 17 panel system with battery at my home in April following a door to door campaign in our area a few weeks before. Jake (a very nice guy and passionate about the technology) visited, looked at our annual electricity bill, discussed our requirements, answered our questions and provided an illustration of potential savings and a Return On Investment timeline. Jake showed us examples of previous work that his company had done. He confirmed that a solar panel system was viable for our roof shape.

After agreeing on the design and installation cost for our choice of panel, inverter and battery, we were given an installation date for Easter Monday. Jake put us in touch with Dan from Save With Scaffolding to arrange access. Dan and his team were polite and efficient. Communication was great and the scaffolding was put up in super-quick time before Charlie and his right-hand man's arrival to install the system. Charlie had to tweak the panel layout slightly from the original design (which was probably based on Google Earth images of our house) but that was fine and we still got the 17 panels we were quoted for. We had 3 strings going into the inverter which was installed in the garage... an east-facing string made up of 8 panels, a south-facing string made up of 7 panels, and a west-facing one that had 2 panels.

All the work was completed in a single day and the mobile app was set up so that we could see how much energy the panels were producing. Charlie gave a run through of the components. We were very pleased as we could see the system was working.

We paid Save With Solar that evening to enable the scaffolding to be removed, which was done 3 days later.

Over the days following the install we could see the panels generating and feeding into the grid, despite not being paid for it as the DNO approval had yet to be sorted and sent to Octopus Energy. It wasn't until 1st May when our exports into the grid would start to be officially recognised. In fairness, we were not told about the lead times and the perceived delay may have been at the DNO.

I had always intended to wait for this review to be written when everything had been completed. We were still waiting for the installation handover pack which was never produced. After 2 months had passed, I messaged Jake asking when we'd get it but he told us that there was nothing else for them to do as the panels were working, powering our house and feeding excess into the grid. I had to explain that I needed a copy of the schematic diagram of what had been installed, photos of the installation, the MCS certificate, a copy of the G99 from the DNO, the Building Regulations certificate sent to NAPIT, spec sheets, operation and maintenance manuals for the solar panels, inverter and battery, documented instructions for the correct way to shut down and start up the system, details of the equipment guarantees and warranties. All of these should have been given to us in an installation pack.

It took another 20 days from the request for the handover pack for Jake to provide the documents. He sent these to me via Whatsapp so I'm having to print these off and create my own installation pack!

I went onto the NAPIT website to confirm that the certificate had been registered, but it said that the cert number was not for my address. The Building Regs certificate needs to be correctly registered as my home insurance will be invalidated should any damage connected with the install happens. The certificate is also required should I decide to sell my house. I hope that the issue with the NAPIT certificate is the result of a genuine admin error and not something that was put together to shut me up!

I'd like to remind Save With Solar that Clause 18 of the contract describes your responsibilities for Commissioning The System, and mentions the Handover Pack, operating manual, and Building Control registration. If you want to retrospectively put together a handover pack and send it to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

The NAPIT cert still not resolved after 3 weeks of telling Jake.

Salesman was very polite and very knowledgable.

After that went down hill very quick

Was told 1 thing by 1 persona don something completely different on the day.
Fitters were worse than cowboys on their days off.
Totally unprofessional
Cracked roof tiles.
Damages heat cover for boiler

The owner/manager was on another level for harassment
Wouldnt take the scaffold down till I paid.
Even when there system wouldn’t take my payment. He was never off the phone. I felt like I had done wrong because of their payment system.

I would steer clear of this company.

You will end up with more problems than what you started with.

Setting up and fixing was brilliant and got very good help with financing as well, plus readily available for post sales supports

Best part was being able to fix on my roof despite pessimistic notes from previous installer I contacted. Got assured all through the process and they stayed true to their words

Excellent service from start to finish. We had 16 solar panels, a battery, and inverter installed, and the whole experience was smooth and professional. The team were friendly, knowledgeable, and worked efficiently throughout. The full installation was completed with an impressive 2-day turnaround, and everything was left clean and tidy afterwards.
The system is working brilliantly, and I've already started saving on my energy bill. Very pleased with the results and would highly recommend - 5 stars.

From a very tentative enquiry to completion I cannot praise this company enough. Liam Pool was a fantastic ambassador for the company, and delivered under pressure as our 4 year old grandson was fascinated with him and Liam showed all the patience in the world.

The fitting team were consummate professionals and worked tirelessly, with respect for ourselves and property .

If you want Solar panels this is the company 100%

Had Save With Solar UK fit solar panels on our property and I’ve got to say, Jake and his team did an excellent job. From the first visit to the final installation, everything was handled professionally and with care.

They explained everything clearly, kept us updated throughout, and the work was done to a really high standard. The scaffolding lads were great too, tidy and respectful around the property.

Save with solar never attended the pre booked appointment which THEY made.
Foolishly I gave them another chance. Had a visit from one of their reps and although this was pleasant enough he was unable to answer alot of my questions. Left saying he would come back to me. Nearly 3 weeks later and nothing. Will be taking my business elsewhere. Very unprofessional. If I could score zero stars I would.

We are very pleased with our solar installation by Save with Solar. We received three quotes, and Save With Solar provided the best quote, along with the best equipment and reliable information. Nothing was too much trouble in their quest to make sure everything was alright, and we are very happy with their work. I have no trouble recommending them to anyone.
