CRITICAL CONSUMER NOTICE: Operational rebrand and vital SOR due diligence
I am posting this review to provide a factual update regarding my consumer experience with Rockstar Motors, which is essential for any vehicle owners currently tracking this business footprint or considering a Sale or Return (SOR) agreement.
Consumers looking for this entity or investigating its history should be fully aware of the following verifiable operational shifts:
• Active Trading Rebrand: This business footprint has migrated its online operations and digital storefront to a new trading entity operating as Superstar Cars (superstarcars.co.uk).
• Identical Footprint and Management: Despite the change in name, the operational infrastructure remains identical. The new entity operates out of the exact same physical yard at Unit 3C, Moat Farm Business Centre, Colchester, utilises the exact same contact phone lines, and remains directly linked to the management and ownership of Danny Nevill.
• Terms & Conditions Red Flag: If you are approached by or engage with this operational footprint under their new name for an SOR agreement, it is critical that you explicitly demand, read, and legally scrutinise their written Terms and Conditions before signing. Do not rely on verbal assurances regarding asset control, liability, or payment release timelines.
• Virtual Storefront Mismatch: The corporate address listed on their updated digital storefront acts as a virtual mail-forwarding location rather than a dedicated vehicle compound where physical stock is actively managed.
Summary Advice: If you are a vehicle owner looking for recourse or trying to conduct background checks on these individuals, treat this direct operational overlap as a major transparency red flag. Conduct strict independent due diligence across both corporate profiles before entrusting your physical asset or signing any contracts.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME – AVOID ROCKSTAR MOTORS SCAMMERS
Based on my experience, I would never use Rockstar Motors again and I would not recommend their Sale or Return service to anyone.
After going through this experience, I looked at other reviews and was shocked to see other customers describing similar problems. I seriously wish I had read those reviews properly before handing over my car.
Do not make the same mistake I made. Read the reviews, read every single term and understand exactly what you are getting yourself into before handing over your vehicle.
I was contacted by a man called Peter to ‘helpe sell my car’ through his company. My car wasn’t sold, yet I was presented with a £2,565 bill just to get my vehicle back. JUST TO ADVERTISE MY VEHICLE, THEY CHARGED ME THIS AMOUNT! When i went to their yard (or forest) to pick my car up, my car had been chained and clamped and i was asked to pay this figure before i can access MY OWN CAR! That experience alone is enough for me to say: do not waste your time. I would stay well away from Rockstar Motors!!!!!!
****AVOID ROCKSTAR MOTORS****
****AVOID ROCKSTAR MOTORS****
Hi all, i wanted to make you all aware of a nasty situation that recently happened to me. I was trying to sell my car for a few months but no luck and i was then approached by ‘rock star motors’ or ‘essex motors’ not sure what one they are called as they can’t pay a tax bill so had to change their name. They told me they would sell my car for me, they keep 1k and i keep the rest, they told me they get these cars in all the time and sell within 2/3 weeks. Perfect sounds ideal, i needed a quick sale. Fast forward 2 months later, car still not sold and i desperately need my car back as i have gone to long with no car i need to get to work, i message them and explain the situation on why i need my car back (any communication with these people they take days to answer and do not pick up the phone either and when they do answer it’s their young employees who DANNY HUGH’s is also taking advantage of) As we had no answer we went down their and my car is not their and also no one is in the office (their opening hours are 9am-7pm monday - sunday as per their website and when we went down their it was around 5:30pm) No one’s their and no car , we finally got hold of a man called pete, who told us we can have the car back for a additional cost of £2.5K!!! Pete told us to stop calling him as he was out with his family but again as per their opening times, the business is still running so they should have provided me a customer service, he said if we don’t stop messaging about MY car he is going to block me. The whole thing was a scam, we got an invoice back and they were charging us for putting my car on platforms , THAT IT WAS NOT EVEN ON!!! they was charging me for things like a ‘sale sign’ & ’car air freshener’ and ‘washer fluid’ that by the way hadn’t even been topped up. I had to pay the 2k or i couldn’t get my car back, i had no choice. We was told by 2 employees we are not the first person this has happened to this week, their was 3 people they have scammed this week to. That’s £6K in total this man who got of innocent people. But if you are approached by anyone from their company, do NOT go through with anything. The owner is a man called Danny Hugh’s, he enjoys taking people’s money, he knows the loop holes on how to get around people. I am a young female, they saw i was vulnerable, they saw the opportunity and took it.
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST
My son fell for the Sales patter that they could sell his car within two weeks for fee of £1000 28 days later not one enquiry about the car so he ask for the car back he incurred fees of £2427 and was told they would not get the car back until they pay the fees Even though at the time when my son asked if the car wasn’t sold they said they would be no additional fees All the owner said take me to court why they keep your car and you’ll still be incurring more fees
charges criminal
All the reviews are true I believe with the experience we’ve gone through. They have changed the company name to Essex motor brokers Limited and have outstanding tax bills in both names so please please be very careful.

ROCKSTAR MOTORS
AVOID!
On the 21st of August we received a phone call from a guy called Peter saying he could sell our GLA Mercedes for 11 grand and they take £1000 as a total fee. It was an explained that there is a load of hidden cost in the terms and conditions which yes we should’ve read but we took them for face value. They have 37 reviews of the same situation that happened to us. We tried to remove the vehicle and take it back as it was only in there for roughly one month and they quoted us £2400 if we wanted the vehicle back the owner is Danny hughes he is a conman he has done this to so many people just look at the reviews on auto pilot please guys be safe and do not use rockstar motors they have a tax bill that they haven’t paid and are just fraudsters we know we should’ve been more careful this message. It’s just to help people so they don’t get done the same as us.
None of this work is carried out - car was not washed! Nothing
Just look at the some things they are quoting us. They have been informed to Train standard and the police just be careful.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Please avoid selling your car with this company, there are hidden costs and scam you out of 2500 and don’t even sell your car!!! I would not recommend dealing with this company at all… broken promises
AVOID
AVOID. Their contracts are horrendous. Duped me, fobbed me off and had to pay 2k to get my car back from them after 27 days, costs, charges and fees daily. Bordering illegal and definitely not honest or reliable.
Read the fine print more than once and then walk away.
AVOID ROCKSTAR MOTORS!
AVOID ROCKSTAR MOTORS!
Terrible experience. We dealt with peter who misled us. They took our car and we were then made to pay £2,000 to get it back. We believe this is how they operate to
Make money.
Peter initially made us feel like we can trust him. However, once they took our car he stopped replying to our messages and calls. We then looked at the reviews and realised that we were not the only ones.
Final charges far higher than indicated and advised
I sold my car through Rockstar Motors on a sale-or-return basis in summer 2026. I'm writing this so others know what to expect. Everything below is backed by documents I hold.
How it started. I was contacted on WhatsApp about selling my car. The messages described Rockstar Motors' service and referred to "our sales fee", and I understood the person to be working for Rockstar Motors. At no point was I told otherwise.
What I was told. Before I signed anything, that person told me in writing that the sales fee on a successful sale would be £1,000. When I visited their premises I was told the worst case after a month would be around £1,750, including warranty and advertising. The terms and conditions were provided as a hyperlink in the agreement. They're very long and include a schedule of around 70 possible charges.
What was deducted. The car sold for £11,650. £3,237 was deducted: £1,500 commission plus £1,737 of other charges across about 45 lines. These included a £400 "sourcing" fee, £100 "sales person", £250 warranty, £120 across 12 social media platforms, three separate washes totalling £90, and small items such as a £2 pen, a £3 booklet and air freshener listed twice. After I complained, I was told for the first time that the person who contacted me on WhatsApp worked for a separate company, and that the £400 sourcing fee was paid to that company for introducing me.
Communication. The advertised price was reduced by £1,000 without telling me first; I found out by looking at the listing. The car sold on 13 July and I wasn't told. I found out two weeks later when the advert disappeared. I then had to chase repeatedly by phone, email and WhatsApp for the final breakdown, which arrived six weeks after the sale. In response to my complaint, the company accepted that communication fell below the standard they would expect and apologised.
To be fair. The car did sell, I received payment in line with their invoice, and no VAT or storage charges were added.
My view. In my opinion, the headline fee I was given bore little resemblance to the final cost, and the charges were not explained to me before they were taken. If you're considering using them, I'd strongly recommend reading every line of the terms before you sign.
PLEASE DO NOT SELL YOUR CAR THROUGH THIS COMPANY!
Avoid at all costs! I was cold called in response to my private ad on Auto Trader and was told they could get me more money for my car- they advertise the car and take £1000 commission upon selling. There is a lot of detail behind this, but essentially THIS IS A LIE! They ended up taking £3500 including costs such as a £400 sourcing fee, a £250 warranty fee for the person buying the car! and delivery/collection fees, amongst many other undisclosed costs, some of which are hidden in the incredibly long terms and conditions that they conveniently don't give you long enough to read before driving your car away. I ended up with £2500 LESS than if i had sold my car through a company such as Car Wow or Motorway. Price of car dropped several times during the 2 months it was for sale, never with any consultation or agreement to the final sale. All communication is either ignored or rebuffed with people being unavailable or off sick or there being techinical issues. I am currently pursuing reclaiming money through the formal complaints procedure and small claims court. Please don't fall for it like i did.
Nine months, no sale, and thousands of pounds in fees
I entrusted my car to Rockstar Motors under a sale-or-return agreement in October 2025. They kept the car for approximately nine months but failed to sell it.
When I asked for my car back, the situation developed into a prolonged and extremely stressful dispute. I had to instruct a solicitor and ultimately paid several thousand pounds in fees before I could collect my own vehicle. Those fees were described as covering selling, storage, advertising, cleaning and other services.
The final outcome speaks for itself: Rockstar Motors had my car for around nine months, did not sell it, and I still ended up several thousand pounds out of pocket simply to bring the matter to an end and get my car back.
In my opinion, this was an appalling and completely unacceptable customer experience. I would never entrust another vehicle to Rockstar Motors or Essex Motor Brokers Ltd, and I cannot recommend their sale-or-return service.
Anyone considering dealing with this company should be extremely cautious. Read every clause, have the agreement independently checked and obtain a precise written explanation of every charge that could become payable if they fail to sell your vehicle and you subsequently ask for it back.
Not even worth for zero rating
Stressful experience from start to finish. I would never recommend this company. They appear to exploit every possible legal loophole to maximise the amount they can take from customers, leaving you feeling unfairly treated and out of pocket.
I would NOT recommend this company
I would NOT recommend this company aka Rockstar Motors - in fact I suggest you avoid them!! Although they did sell our car, they were difficult to get hold of, and when we did speak to them - quite arrogant. Their premises isn't not prestige as you might think from online pictures, it's an old farmyard and the office is a shed, so check it out before you hand over your expensive car to them!
They promised we'd get more by selling the car through them, but even though they apparently sold it for £3k more than the part-ex price (we're not sure, we've never had anything in writing), by the time they deducted their 'fees', we ended up with less than if we'd sold through CarWow or part exchange. So I regret going with them and really wouldn't recommend.
The contract (which we only got to see when they came to pick up the car) means they expect you to hand over the V5 with the car, then they hold onto your money for a month after they sell the car, and they deduct whatever fee they want with absolutely no supporting information / statement or invoice. We were worried that they'd have spent our money or gone bust before they paid us anything!
They never passed on the spare key to the new owner of the car - we've still got it, we had no chance to hand it over as they never told us anything about the buyer, including the final selling price! Absolutely no transparency - and they claim to be a broker acting in your best interests!?
It looks like Danny Nevill is no longer a director, we dealt with Dan Hugo and so our experiences are based on interactions with him - totally NOT impressed. He also has loads of companies listed at Companies House, which doesn't bode well! I feel a fool for reacting to a 'cold call' from 'Peter' (whoever he is, never seen or heard of since) off the back of our Auto-Trader ad, its been a very stressful experience - don't make the same mistake!
I strongly suspect the 5 star reviews on here are fake because I'm aware of lots of unhappy customers. And it seems odd how the reviews are either 5 star or 1 star and nothing in between!!
AKA Rockstar Motors Absolute joke…
AKA Rockstar Motors Absolute joke of a company, Danny the head man is the genuine Arthur Daily but on steroids....... I bought the car from them listed on car guru's. The car listing was for a different model so wrong spec meant to be a 4X4 when it arrived it was Front wheel drive. He ignored emails, monitored calls and would not answer, so used a different phone and he did and then changed number.. The fight continues.
Good job Danny is so incompetent or untrustworthy? Make your own decision, I am stating neither.
After getting an independent search I have now found the car has had a loan taken out on it after I paid for. The car is also has a history including stolen/recovered
The Motor ombudsman, Trading standards, Police and CAB have all been notified and as things take so long in this day and age and this all happened back in Feb / March time things should be coming up soon.
I recommend you contact police ASAP if your getting problems with them as They are known to them !!!!
AND GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!
!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!
!!!DO NOT USE!!!
If you only read one review from this website please make it this one. I recently put my car on auto trader to sell privately, I was contacted by Peter at Rockstar Motors who told me he could sell it for me for me as companies like this can offer finance options for the buyer. He asked to come and collect the car as they were going to detail it and get it photographed. I explained that I had an MOT booked for it so they'd need to wait until after the weekend, they told me they would carry out the MOT and they needed to collect it before the weekend as they'd be able to sell it sooner.
Peter told me that the ONLY fee that they take is £1000 UPON SUCCESSFUL SALE OF THE VEHICLE, no other fees were explained to me. Peter told me on WhatsApp that I would be sent an automated link to the sales agreement to sign. I received an email with a link to the sales agreement but NO T&Cs. I signed the sales agreement which again stated there would be a fee of £1000 UPON SUCCESSFUL SALE OF THE VEHICLE. They had the car for over a month and failed to sell it, I had messaged 3 times to ask them to drop the price so that I could clear down the finance I owed, and they could make the £1000. They kept putting off dropping it and in the end only dropped it by £1000 instead of the £4000 I had requested. At this point I needed to hand the car back to my finance company as my PCP agreement was coming to an end so I was on a deadline (which they were aware of). Peter had gone MIA so I was put in contact with a guy called James, I messaged on Monday explaining I will need to come and collect my car by Saturday. He ignored me for a while and then messaged me with a fake internally generated invoice in excess of £2600. The invoice listed a £1000 cancellation fee, plus 2 pages of other extras (including things like: air freshener, causal labour, booklet, pen, fuel (the car had 9 miles in) screen wash, forecourt, floor mats etc.) none of which I had ever been made aware of and none of which have actually been done on my car. I disputed the invoice and Peter told me that Danny (his boss who I will come to later) has put a possession lien on my car, meaning that until I paid the outstanding amount they claimed had accumulated, I am not able to collect my car. Peter told me that I had signed the terms and conditions which authorised them to do this, what I then realised was that AFTER they had sent me the sales agreement, they sent a follow up email, asking me to sign the agreement. In the bottom of that separate email signature is all the info about Rockstar motors, and right at the very bottom, the T&Cs. I phoned the police and took legal advice who told me I was essentially bound to the T&Cs.
The owner of this company is Danny Dean Nevill, he has over 25 businesses listed on companies house all scamming people of their money, one of which is Universal Web Designs, if you look them up you will see the same reviews. He uses fake identities (Patrick Collins) and has multiple court cases open against him along with being investigated by HMRC. I ended up having to barter with them and they charged me £1750 which I paid UNDER PROTEST, when I collected my car it was filthy, their site is a field and their office is a shed, it had also not been MOTd as they said it had. Since collecting my car they have now marked it as SOLD on their website which is yet another lie.
Please avoid this company and any of Danny Nevill's other companies, he is a professional con-man and fraudster and you will be left out of pocket and feeling humiliated, he does this so much that he knows all the loop holes and you will be banged to rights. PLEASE AVOID!!!!!
100% Fraud and Scammers!
100% Fraud and Scammers!
PLEASE DO NOT carry out any business with this company, whether buying or selling your car. Danny is the biggest scammer, his staff is fully trained to scam and lie to people. They don't sell your car, they rip off the car owners by sending them false invoices of 1000s of pounds.
Well where do i begin....
Well where do i begin. Danny Nevill is a lying, scamming cheat of a person. He suckers people in to all his businesses and then screws people out of their hard earned money. He brings anyone around him down.
I had the mis-pleasure of working as a Director with Danny Nevill for Rockstar Motors for a period of time (so take it from someone that knows). At first all seemed well and I didnt see the hidden under belly of what Danny was doing to people. Once I had realised I promptly left the company but not before he stole several thousand from me.
I would advice anyone to take caution if seriously considering using his services or working with/for him.
I have been in contact with a few of his victims who tell me the same horror stories (previous business partners, colleagues and clients). We all currently have an active legal case being made against Danny Nevill.
He has been reported to fraud department, police and companies house by myself and many others.
Do not engage with him on any account as you will get burned as we all have.
IGNORE THE POSITIVE REVIEWS - THEY ARE LIES
We have had an awful experience with Rockstar Motors or whatever they call themselves. Quite clearly a cowboy outfit made up of fraudsters who get their kicks out of scamming people.
My partner left a 1 star review recently and we have since seen that his name has been used by a Rockstar employee at a later date to leave a 5 star review, refuting everything he had said previously! Having a look through it is quite clear they do this with all the bad reviews that are left as all of the fake “positive” reviews read EXACTLY the same.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THE DISGRACEFUL PEOPLE BEHIND IT!
The worst experience with a UK business…
The worst experience with a UK business that I have ever encountered. Stay well away from this company. I wish I did. Formerly Rockstar Motors. Read the reviews thoroughly. I am shocked that a business can operate the way they do in this country but they are unregulated and not a member of the Ombudsman
I am purely coming on here to stop…
I am purely coming on here to stop anyone else from the general public getting scammed by these amateurs.
They have a gentleman who claims he works for the company, but he only sources the cars…..he then gives you all the dribble how they have clients ready to buy the car etc….i break my neck to get my car ready within 12 hours so they can collect, then after 3 weeks I have ZERO communication from the company. There’s a bunch of kids dribbling down the phone to you with no facts or stats. They are useless
People can take this as they want……we can only go on personal experiences etc, but TRUST me, I’ve own enough cars and sold enough to know that Rockstar are amateurs and cowboys.
