Resumes are overwhelming to me. So many little details you want to get right, but equally not wanting the resume to be too long (wordy). I’m so grateful for the time the team took to not only give me feedback/advice, but create a resume that feels concise and engaging. Very responsive too if you have any questions. Highly recommend!

This was my first time paying for a professional resume. The process was easy of course and I received my resume extremely quickly. I did have to send it back once for a typo, but that wasn't bad because we're going to have some type of human error.
The part that's really got me is that I paid over $100 for my resume and it has not received one hit from anyone other than scammers. I reached out to them for a revision since they suggested narrowing it down to a specific field, which they did. It just consisted of them rewording the header. The updated one still has not received any hits. The resume I did received more hits than these, they were just all low paying which I could not afford to accept.
The website is nice, you'll get a resume quick, but I cannot say you will get an interview or anything other than a rejection letter. It has been a month and they did say that it takes time,we will see.

Since my review above on October 1, 2024 this company has suspended my account. Inspite of how they chose to dress up this situation in their rsponse below, I did reach out to this company several times about my resume not getting any reviews or me landing a job. They replied with "It takes time." It will be a month in 2 days since they did my first resume and still nothing. I reached out to them again and they said that my resume was too broad, so I told the to narrow it down to Medical Billing. They did change the heading to reflect that and that was it. Still no interview and no new job. But this person responding to my review on here has chosen to lie about the timing by saying it has been 2 weeks, and also lying about me not reaching out to them. Then finally stating they wish me the best and to reach out to them even though they have suspended my account. There is also no way of getting in touch with them on their site unless you have an account or choose to make an order.
They have in the contract that they will refund your money with in 45 days and no more than 90 days. However they have suspended my account. FALSE ADVERTISING! I literally gave this company my last bit of money, believing that they would stand by their word. Instead they created a resume that has not gotten me one interview. Next suspended my account with them after my review on here. Then lied in their response to my review below to keep ripping people off. This company is a joke and they do not stand by their word.

Also I am a female not a male. They addressed me as a male in their response to my review even though you can see my picture above clear as day,
I-am-a-female.
Bit of advice if you don't know the person's gender look for a picture like the one I have above or use a neutral term. But I feel that was just another way for this person to be mean and hit below the belt because they did not like my original review. Either way people watch out for this company. It's a scam.

My resumes are always fantastic, and the customer service is great! I used the chat box on the side and it was a real live person and so helpful! I have been using this service for 10 years and will continue to!

What a terrible experience with Ryan and his team. He talked me into going with them when I interviewed 5 other companies and he promised the resume would be ATS friendly (it wasn't) then when I asked for help he ghosted me and now doesn't want to fix anything.

Writing a resume is a daunting process. In my case, the resume was not updated for over 16 years. I’m beginning a new job search and was in need of a professional to handle the task of revamping and refreshing my resume along with my LinkedIn profile. I searched professional resume writing websites and found the Resume Writing Group. After doing my research, I decided to go with them. They offered to critique my resume and get back to me with their feedback. Needless to say, the feedback was very harsh! I waited a few weeks before I decided to go ahead and have them handle the rewrite of my resume/cover letter/thank you letter along with updating my LinkedIn profile. In a word I was wowed with the total results of the package I selected. Amy B, my resume writer, exceeded my expectations of what I thought my resume would look like when completed. The 2 letters are amazing along with a new fresh and crisp LinkedIn profile. I was constantly updated along the way once Amy B began working on this project for me. Despite noticing negative reviews, I decided to try The Resume Writing Group. Unfortunately, my experience validated those reviews:

Initially...the resume looked great, despite its coloring which was too bright....but could be changed. Upon receiving their resume, I explained to them in writing that it looked great...BUT that I was still reviewing it...carefully.

Upon careful review...I found problems, which they fixed in addition to the color.

After initially being "happy" with my corrected resume, and uploading it to job boards and sending it out...I found more serious problems...with the employment date formatting they had used. However, I only found this out AFTER the job board ATS read and published it...and I had double-checked what was actually showing up on the job boards.

The specific issues with my resume were:

• My resume too (like others reported) had typos that spellcheck didn't catch, suggesting poor proofreading or their English language skills aren’t up-to-par.

A "DRAFT" resume from a professional resume writer should not have typos. Changes...Yes. Typos...No.

• They poorly rewrote one job description. Their revision made no sense and suggests they didn’t understand what the original description meant.

Again, the wording should have at least made sense in the draft resume...even if it needed changing. They are supposed to be professional resume writers.

• They removed my technical skills section, claiming it was outdated (which it wasn't). A recruiter I have known for years was horrified when she heard they had done this....as for my role...technical skills DO matter and are searched on by recruiters.

• The color scheme had thick, bright blue borders and lines, not geared to a business resume.

• The employment dates were changed from month/year to year. Once I tried uploading the final resume to job boards…I found out that it messed the work experience sequence up when being read by ATS (which is what they were supposed to fix). Unless the month is specified, ATS perceives a year to be the first month of the year.

I had two positions in 2020. By their using 2020 as the start and end date for both positions on the resume? They were both read by the ATS job boards as starting in January....which they didn't.

Their failure to update employment dates correctly caused issues with ATS scanning. I am still fixing the job board uploads.

Obviously I didn't know this could happen if dates were put in this way...but THEY should have known this. That's what they're selling...their professional resume writing...and their ability to make resumes ATS compatible.

• They promised to improve ATS readability but failed to demonstrate any improvement after revisions…despite my asking them to rerun the report so that I could gauge the level of improvement.

Funny how the respondent to this complaint omitted the fact that I had requested this and that they had refused to run it.

So they reel people in by showing them a report of all their resume's supposed flaws...but then never rerun the report to show how they fixed those flaws.

And then I found out subsequently that their fix caused a serious employment dates problem with the very ATS job boards they are charging me to successfully navigate.

So of course I was no longer "happy" with them at that point. That's a no-brainer.

• I had to redo my resume on all of the job boards I’d uploaded it to, due to critical errors.

I must say that they made all the changes I caught/requested at the time...and that some aspects of the rewrite were quite good.

However well-written content doesn’t matter much if a resume has typos and incorrect dates in it. That’s enough to land it in the NO pile.

I have fixed my resume so that I can use it...and am STILL fixing the job boards I uploaded their version to.

When presented with my negative review here...they deliberately took my emails out of context...completely omitting the fact that I had said I was still reviewing their work, and omitting the fact that I had also asked them for the resume assessment rerun.

Overall, I can't recommend The Resume Writing Group. In my opinion...they're an expensive scam.

I'm not going to fight with them to get the 150 I spent on the resume back. Nor am I going to fight with them to get the 50 back that I spent for them to post their version of my resume online for recruiters.

Instead? I am warning others...who will check TrustPilot first like I did.

Maybe they will be in the lucky 98% of satisfied customers...or maybe they'll be in the unlucky 2% like I and others were.

I'm just glad that I subsequently thought to check the output of their resume on the job boards...where errors matter...and found the problem before I was damaged further by it.
