I guess like most people about to undergo cataract surgery I was just a little trepidatious as I walked into Moorfields back in January. I was told the operation on both eyes would be relatively simple and completely painless but even so, lurking in the brain were fears of lasers, scalpels and who knew what other implements of torture all coming for my eyeballs. When I walked out again a couple of hours later, the world was transformed. Everything was brighter and shinier and the next morning when I opened the paper I could read faultlessly without glasses for the first time in 15 years. So what about the "horrors" of the operation? I should have believed what I had been told by Mr Deshmukh: there was no pain, no discomfort even, just 40 minutes or so lying on my back while fuzzy images of him and his team transformed my life. A month later I am only just starting to get a little blase about that transformation. The world is back in focus and I cannot thank Mr Deshmukh enough nor praise him sufficiently for his skill and expertise.

My wife and I had our initial consultation with Mr Rajesh Deshmukh couple of weeks back and with his advice, expert counselling, and suggestion we accepted and agreed to go ahead with bilateral cataract surgery the following week.
Mr Deshmukh undertook the procedure of our cataract eye surgery (both eyes) few days after the consultation with exceptional care, professionalism and skill and implanted the best premium lenses.
I would recommend sedation on top of the anaesthetic as although the procedure is painless it helps to be completely relaxed.
My wife and I are delighted with the results, the surgery and process were quick, painless, and saved us the trouble of having to schedule two procedures for each eye separately.
The treatment has improved quality of our life, with clear, improved vision and trust it will be freedom from wearing glasses.

I was delighted with the lens replacement procedure carried out by Mr Deshmukh three weeks ago. I had worn contact lenses for 45 years but three years ago, in my early 60's, had to abandon them for glasses, on which I was completely dependent. Now I only need to wear +1 glasses for reading the smallest print (eg ingredient lists on food packets). I had both eyes done on the same day which was easy and convenient and was back at work the following afternoon. The procedure itself was completed within about 45 minutes and all the staff were kind, supportive and helpful. I would recommend sedation on top of the anaesthetic as although the procedure is painless it helps to be completely relaxed.

my wife recently had the opportunity to visit Mr Deshmukh for a rather unique procedure .To say I was initially worried would be an understatement ,as he informed us that he would be performing laser treatment on one eye and cataract surgery on the other eye .all on the same day.However ,we are delighted to say that he has done a brilliant job, exceeding all our expectations

As practicing Gp I was looking for practical and effective cataract operation with my previous history of retinal detachments and lasik eye surgery.

Dr Deshmukh and his team provided excellent eye healthcare. Appointments were easily made, once in the practice everything ran efficiently and on time with friendly and competent nurses. Dr Dashmuck performed an extensive investigation, explained his diagnosis and proposed treatment clearly, and the follow up superb. Overall an outstanding experience.

My Mum is 96 years of age. Her Eye sight had deteriorated significantly, limiting her for reading. We decided to go ahead with the Bilateral cataract surgery. Mr Deshmukh made the procedure so painless and explained what to expect, he put Mum at ease who was a little nervous. There were no complications and Mum had immediate improved vision, amazing! All eye sight back to normal so quickly.

I had bilateral cataract surgery two months ago, and have been delighted with the results. Mr Rajesh Deshmukh implanted trifocal lenses (both at the same time), with the result that I no longer need to wear glasses. Although I was initially slightly nervous about doing both eyes at once, the process was quick and painless, and saved the trouble of having to schedule two procedures. I can thoroughly recommend Mr Deshmukh and his team.

Me Deshmukh explained every step of the procedure in clear ,simple language . His manner was encouraging and put me at ease . The results are amazing .

My mum recently had her Cataract surgery for both her eyes done with Dr. Raj, the experience was incredible. My mum was very anxious and Dr. Raj was humble and supportive throughout the entire process. His communication was very effective, ensuring Mum understood what was happening despite the language barrier. Both the surgeries were a great success and my mum did not experience any pain with either of the surgeries and has made a significant good improvement in her vision. My mum had suffered a stroke which resulted in her right eye being lazy and hence having poorer vision in her right eye (6/24), she noticed good improvement in her vision shortly after the surgery where she could see clearer and sharper. The vision in the left eye has improved significantly going from 6/18 to 6/7.5.
I would definitely recommend Dr.Raj for cataract surgeries as he is not only very professional but also very highly skilled and treats his patients very well. Mum feels extremely blessed to have had Dr. Raj for her cataract surgery.

I underwent Cataract surgery performed by Mr Deshmukh on 9th of May. I was so anxious before the surgery as I have been told of at City Road A&E and during pre-surgery that I had waited for too long before the op. I am so glad Mr Deshmukh chose to do the surgery himself as the message before op was , this is going to be a difficult one. The Consultant was so calm and reassuring that my concerns were greatly relieved. I am both astonished and delighted with my new clarity of vision, as a result, I have a rejuvenated life.
I did not need any pain killer. I am so delighted. Pure magic.

I had cataract surgery done on my left eye by Mr Rajesh Deshmukh almost 2 weeks ago. It was an excellent experience with excellent outcome. I was extremely shortsighted with a -24 dioptre prescription and have worn contact lenses for 40 years. Together with the cataract, vision was very poor. Mr Deshmukh made this complex surgery seem straightforward and routine. The surgery was short and I had no complications post surgery. I needed no painkillers. I could see clearly the next morning. Everything was so bright and sharp. The best part is that I now have 20/20 vision in my left eye. I bought a cheap pair of +1 reading glasses for fine print. Thank you so much.

I had cataract surgery carried out on both eyes one week apart. I opted for the EDOF replacement lenses, which give excellent distance and intermediate vision. This has corrected the astigmatism in both eyes and I now have 20/20 vision. I can clearly see the dashboard and satnav on my car without glasses! I only need +1.0 for reading small print. Mr Deshmukh and his team were very thorough and professional. The entire operation was carried out very smoothly.

Firstly I would like to thank Dr Deshmukh for lifting some very heavy scales off my eyes! The cataracts had been getting denser for years and finally in my late 80s it was probably now or never. I wasn't consciously aware of feeling anxious but when my blood pressure was taken prior to the op, it was horrendously high. I am so relieved I wasn't sent home at that point. Having bi lateral surgery, I will admit to cautiously opening the first eye during the op and feeling immensely relieved that it worked. I could see! I have just concluded my five weeks of eye drops, gradually improving my technique. The first and only time I took painkillers was immediately following the op when I got home, but that was literally the one and only time and even then I hardly needed them. The big shock was how bright the light was the next day. Thank goodness I had invested in a good pair of sunglasses immediately prior to surgery and also quickly followed this by acquiring some cheap reading specs, which are now spread throughout the house. My vision for everything apart from small print is now brilliant. Again sincere thanks to Dr Deshmukh, Dr Celaschi and their team for doing such a great job. Carol Knight.

After a long wait for cataract surgery on the NHS and the only option being short or long sight lenses I decided to go private.
Mr Deshmukh was very knowledgeable and reassuring and informed me about all of the options and i decided on EDOF lenses and within a few weeks had the surgery on both eyes.
I am so glad i went private with Mr Deshmukh he is excellent, i can now see perfectly, no need for glasses whatsoever.
I was scared prior to the surgery but there really was no need, it all went smoothly and my life is now transformed.

I was anxious beforehand and because of this I'd put off having my cataracts done for a long time. There was no need to be so anxious. Mr Deshmukh put me at ease and he and his team were excellent. I will be having my other eye done soon with Mr. Deshmukh and he has made me feel so confident that I won't be anxious this time.

Prior to my cataract surgery I had worn glasses or contact lenses for 65 years. With a very high plus prescription and extreme astigmatism, I had accepted managing poor eyesight was part of my life. However, as my cataracts developed, and I realised I could no longer see a computer screen or read a novel without wearing prescription 2.5 reading glasses over my tri - focal glasses or contact lenses, I knew I had to take some action.
Being desperately anxious, and because poor eyesight was better than none at all, I phoned Moorfields for advice. They put me in touch with Mr Rajesh Deshmukh, and I could not have had a better referral. Right from the very beginning he was patient and empathic, giving me all the time I needed to ask my questions, and searching for the right kind of lenses to suit my complicated prescription and lifestyle.
On the day of surgery I was extremely apprehensive, but Mr Deshmukh and his team reassured and calmed me all the way through. The procedure was completely pain free, and both eyes were finished in half an hour, my sight improving from the start.
A week afterwards I now do not need glasses or contact lenses for distance vision, and can drive again. I still need a plus 1 prescription for reading or computer work, but Mr Deshmukh had warned me that would probably be the case, although he also told me the improvement in sight continues for up to a month, sometimes three, so here's hoping.
I would absolutely recommend Mr Deshmukh and his team for any type of cataract surgery.
