Quark was first class at every step of the process for this magical Patagonian adventure. Their payment and travel information was timely, clear and understandable; very responsive to questions. The travel logistics were smooth and well-organized.

The expedition staff generously shared their expertise and passion for this beautiful region, making every excursion exciting and memorable for all passenger ages and physical abilities. The wide variety of lecture topics were fun and educational. The zodiac cruises, hikes, kayaking and helicopter rides made this adventure unique. With every activity, the staff and crew made passenger safety and comfort a priority.

The incredibly professional and attentive service staff spoiled us with first class housekeeping, meals and beverages, special treats, and spa facilities. The ship's well-designed layout provided great views while traveling in amazing comfort.

When there were itinerary changes (expected with adventure travel!), our expedition leader and his staff worked overtime to keep everyone happy and offered frequent, two-way communication to make sure we were well-informed and help maintain our expedition spirit. The result was enjoying pristine nature in an amazing part of the world with the most expert, caring staff I could imagine.

My husband and I went to Antartica in late February/early March 2026 with two friends with Quark on the World Explorer (as one of its last two trips with Quark). It was an absolutely incredible experience. The wildlife viewing was amazing. We saw hundreds of whales (humpback, sei, minke, and a right whale!), orcas, and penguins (chinstrap, gentoo, and adelie). The weather was lovely with mild temperatures and lots of sunshine. Our expedition leader was Shane who is the absolute best! He's so knowledgeable and friendly and well respected by his team. The entire expiation team was amazing and passionate about what they do. The lectures, bar talks, and other events were a great way to learn and have fun while going through the Drake and pass time between expeditions. The ship accommodations were very comfortable and everything you need (including things like a robe, full size hair dryer, L'Occitane bath products, multiple style power plugs including USB, Nespresso machine and refrigerator in the cabin, and spa, gym, and outdoor walking track on the 8th deck). The food was delicious. The boat staff were friendly and attentive. Every aspect of the trip exceeded our expectations!

Ship was comfortable and the rooms large and well equipped. The food and service were great. The guides and staff were friendly and helpful.

This was an incredible 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience. It is beyond possible to describe how beautiful, immense and jaw-drippingly spectactular Antarctica is. Helped by fantastic weather but the crew and the expedition guides made it an unforgettable adventure. I cannot speak highly enough of how professional, competent, informed, interesting and fun they were.

Wonderful insight into Antartica wilderness.Safety a priority was reassuring plus maximum exposure to excursion experiences was great. All attempts to minimise impact of our visits was also impressive. ALL staff were pleasant, efficient and informative. It seemed a well organised and dedicated team. Well done.

This was our first trip to Antarctica and our first cruise with this company. I could not be more satisfied. We saw so much wildlife, had many great excursions, and the crew and expedition team were amazing. I look forward to many more trips with Quark.

The Fly the Drake pre-departure portion of the trip highlighted several operational gaps which led to my rating. The delays themselves are understandable given the environment, but the way they were managed created unnecessary friction for guests.
During the extended stay in Punta Arenas, communication was limited almost exclusively to briefings at 8:30 PM. This structure constrained the ability to plan elements of the day, including meals outside the hotel, and created a sense of waiting rather than coordinated contingency planning. While quark providede meals, the food at the Dreams Hotel Punta Arenas was notably subpar, which became more impactful given how much time we were required to spend there.
From a personnel standpoint, most staff were professional, but one of the primary team members appeared visibly frustrated and did not mask it, which influenced the overall tone during an already stressful delay period.
The day we were finally cleared to travel there were potential communication delays, with the expected time for updates being one hour later than what was to occur based on briefings.This contributed to delays that ultimately resulted in one of the two flights missing the landing window. As a result, only half of the departing passengers made it off the ship. The remainder were left onboard in a situation that felt improvised, with new arrivals effectively displacing established routines. The dynamic felt less like a managed transition and contributed to additional stress after an already stressful launch to the trip.
Once on board, the Ocean Explorer team however functioned like a well-run, highly coordinated operation. Everything felt seamless, with a level of precision and consistency that was evident across the entire experience. Every member of the crew was clearly well trained and aligned in execution. The guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and consistently able to address questions in depth and the readyroom process was seamless. Dining and housekeeping were both meticulous and attentive to detail (though the food was often bland). This was, without question, a once-in-a-lifetime trip and a genuinely special experience.
One thing individuals should be aware of is that you may not in fact have a continental landing on these trips. We did not (and were unfortunately about an additional hour of sailing away from being able to do so). It is a significant time and financial investment to not achieve this and was disappointing once we realized we would not get this experience.

We had a fantastic holiday to Antarctica on Quark's ship Ultramarine. The organisation of the trip was superb. There were multiple specialist staff on board who provided educational insight into the geology and wildlife of Antarctica preparing us for the amazing sights when we got there. The catering and service staff were brilliant as was the cabin, the food and the service. The helicopter and zodiac excursions were amazing and really well organised. Brilliant!

Epic. If you’re thinking about it, do it. Just epic

It was incredible to be so near to nature loved the kayak experience though at first too many restrictions and we saw less nature than the people going in the zodiaks . Too pricey for having to give up once a day the kayak to go on the zodiak to see more animals

The expedition staff (including pilots), hotel and meal staff, and bar staff were exceptional at making me feel valued. The cabin, excursions, presentations, and Voyage were incredible.

WOW! Expedition of a lifetime. Definitely NOT a routine vacation. We had great expectations for the trip and every single box was checked. The Quark Team provided an exceptional experience that anticipated every Antarctic Adventurer's goals, adjusted to every curveball thrown us (and Mother Nature did try to knock the team of their pace!) and delivered a truly remarkable experience.

The expedition crew put every effort forward to ensure clients were able to see as much as possible. They were very informative about the process and situations of landings & educated us throughout the expedition on various subjects. The hotel staff were all very accommodating

I wish that they had decaf coffee or tea and that the boutique carried toiletries like sunscreen etc.

There is a reason Quark is the best in polar exploration! Everything was outstanding from the moment we arrived to check in at the Ushuaia hotel to the time we were dropped off at the airport after the ship docked, when the trip was over. The staff, communications, seminars, zodiac excursions, food, service, exploration team, cabin - all of it! - was exceptional. There wasn't a single thing that needed improvement. And of course, Antarctica is an amazing place full of life with experiences just waiting to be explored. Quark made it outstanding in every way!

It’s honestly difficult to put into words the experience I had with Quark Expeditions on my recent voyage to Antarctica. During this voyage, I reached my 7th continent, and despite traveling extensively throughout my life, this was easily one of the most magical experiences I’ve ever had.
From the moment I stepped aboard the ship, my first cruise ever, I was welcomed with warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness. Safety was clearly a priority, and once the briefings were complete, the adventure truly began.
Our Expedition Leader Shane was exceptional. It was clear how thoughtfully the entire journey had been planned months in advance to maximize every landing, Zodiac cruise, kayaking, and paddle opportunities.
The expedition team was phenomenal and the group that led presentations and educational talks were amazing. Seeing Antarctica from the Zodiac boats, glaciers, sculpted icebergs, whales, penguins, and seals, felt surreal and having the opportunity to learn about what we saw and would see was great.
A special mention goes to Vladimir, whose incredible wildlife-spotting ability and deep knowledge made every outing unforgettable while ensuring we remained safe and respectful of the animals. His warmth, humor, and constant smile added so much to the experience. I also had wonderful outings with Jens, another great wildlife spotter whose knowledge added incredible context, and Pete, who led an unforgettable stand-up paddle excursion.
Life onboard felt like a five-star hotel at sea. Our cabin steward Adarash kept everything spotless and welcoming, and dining was outstanding. Alan and the wait staff provided impeccable service and the chef provided an excellent and varied food selection throughout the voyage.
I’ve never cried leaving a destination before, but I did when this trip ended.
Antarctica is extraordinary…but the phenomenal team at Quark are the ones who turn it into the journey of a lifetime. I would recommend a room with balcony that allows you to go outside at any time, as well as taking advantage of all the outings, as well as planned talks during the day and after dinner. Quark provides an excellent packing list. . . use it. The staff is incredibly helpful and anticipates needs even before you have them.
