Expensive and aggressive

The unit rate is very low and I was sold their services on the basis of that. However they load a whole lot of extra charges on to of the unit rate. My electric bill went up by around $300 per month! Only lasted 2 months and went back to my old provider. I was late with paying the final bill ($800!) and they were quick to threaten debt collectors and credit rating impacts. Not a nice experience.

Terrible rates

I had some door knockers come to my house and sign me up. When I told them my monthly power bill (which is around $350) they acted like I was being completely ripped off so I signed up. After signing up with pulse my monthly bill doubled. When I complained I was offered a payment plan, but no reason for why my usage had somehow doubled from June to July. I have to admit my own fault, I shouldn’t have blindly trusted people knocking on my door, but I’m so annoyed that they are pressuring people to sign up when they provide a terrible service. Have switched companies and would never be with pulse again.

I signed up with a door to door…

I signed up with a door to door salesman and given the sign up discount of $200 less GST. I found their billing very confusing and their charges were reasonable for the first month. With in a month I received a notice that my rates were to increase and they sure did. I decided to quit Pulse and return to Meridian Energy my previous supplier. My final bill from Pulse was the largest electricity bill I have ever received at $325, I live in a one bedroom unit and being a pensioner use power sparingly. I have requested a breakdown of my final bill, it appears they are claiming the $175 ($200 -GST) rebate back. Very disappointing, I await their reply. I do not recommend Pulse.

Is the most expensive company I've ever…

Is the most expensive company I've ever dealt with! As a low power user, they refused to sign me up as a low user, even though all my power bills were well under the threshold.
Also when they say $200 new sign up bonus, its $200 minus GST so you don't actually get $200 off. I would never promote this business to anyone.

this company is an absolute rip off - was being charged up to $400 per month for electricity and changed to another supplier and the price dropped by over a half. Their customer service is non existent.

This company is the BIGGEST GRIFTER…

This company is the BIGGEST GRIFTER electric company. That just do not give a damn about customers and ONCOR is the biggest rip off with their monthly charges as well. My beef with Pulse is that how can you have your smart thermostat turned off for 25 of the 33 days of service and STILL HAVE A BILL OVER 150.00 dollars. Just tell me how that is possible???? Literally the house is empty and I STILL GET A BILL FOR OVER 150.00 BUCKS???? Make it make sense!

Never sign up with these guys I was…

Never sign up with these guys I was with them for a year and a half I was given free Neon for six months and a $200 free power credit and was told if I change power company before my year is up I will be charged for it. So long story short, I just had a phone call from them yesterday saying that I have to pay for the Neon the modem and the free power because I have changed power companys and he told me that it was a two year contract with them when the guy that knocked on my door told me it was a year contract so these guys a thief's.

Liars

Don’t waste another second dealing with this shady company! They came to my house claiming they could save me money if I signed up. I told them I’d think about it and talk to my housemates first. But then—out of nowhere—I get an email saying, “Thanks for signing up, your power is now connected.” What a bunch of con artists! These scammers have no shame.

Slam the door don't let them in

If anyone comes and tries to sell any product at my door I can't even tell you what I'm going to do,con artist selling you power that's supposed to be cheaper instead ends up $7 or more a week over the year thats $364 extra a year,if you're late with your bill $1.75 a day if they're charging late fees what else are they charging if pulse energy knows that their sales reps are coning people out of money like this then I hope you go bust sort this crap out it isn't right its hard enough I've already called most of the people I know if they show up to drop the f bomb if anyone from pulse shows up.The door to door sales people are heartless pigs that make your company look like a 3rd world corrupt backwards business out to scavenge from whoever they can for what ever they can get,don't go near pulse energy.

Worst wifi service imaginable

Worst wifi service imaginable. A whole month with connection issues, and these guys don’t seem to give a damn - denying there’s a problem, then tell us they rebooted the modem and ignore us when we report back it hasn’t helped. When we said, after this had been going on for a while, we wanted to switch to another supplier because of how bad their service was, the reply we got was a threat to charge us for early disconnection. We replied this was an unacceptable response but got nowhere. It’s like these people want you to leave.

Lying pulse energy door to door sales

We had a pulse energy sales person come knocking. The first lie is he said we get a month free power when we sigh up...then he came back for us to sign up he then said we get $150 free...he also told us our power bills would be 20% cheaper..that was lie 2...our power bills have never been so high..ever..and we rang two other supply companies and gave them our usage and both them were around $100 cheaper...so we switched to Contact energy...and in the process pulse told us we now have to pay the free $150 now..very rude on the phone and talking over me...

Not recommended

I had a door to door agent. He started out citing my current energy provider informing me that I had been overcharged for years! He requested to see my power bill and advised I could save about $40 per month. However, after completing the sign up, when I asked how much I could expect to pay in the next month, he stuttered about $8 Dollars less that what I am currently paying.

Absolute ripoff artists

Absolute ripoff artists! Promised $50 savings per month, but bills were $70 more than our already expensive provider. 2 adult household with gas hot water and hob, on last bill were charged $60 for 3 weeks, useage over than period: 1 hob burner on for 30 minutes max per day, 2 x 5 minute showers per day. When I complained they asked for previous supplier bills for the 5 same months of previous year, which I did and their reply only stated what rates we were on, no solutions and no apologies so dumped them. Do not switch to these ripoff merchants, EVER!

Worst Power Company in NZ.

I hope Fair Go looks into this company as they are flat out lying to people. They ask to see your current electricity bill and promise they can provide cheaper rates and even promote themselves as low-user friendly. They charged double what my previous provider did and only do estimates rather than actual readings. They do not have an app that you can log into and check your usage, instead you have to wait the full month for their 'estimate'. Try Frank Energy or
Powershop instead, they are much more cheaper and transparent.

Slow response time (48hours) & bad customer support…

After spending 30mins on the phone doing several speed tests on different devices the customer support team still didn't believe that our internet is not working. Assuming that it must be one single device they asked us to send an email with a screenshot of the site speed test. Basically not believing us and pretending the internet works just fine. They will get back to us within 48 hours. If you are working from home and need reliable internet you might be better off somewhere else. Customer service is not able to help you right away neither do they believe what you are saying. Terrible experience.
