I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Public Storage in Dallas.
On January 23rd and 24th, we had a severe snowstorm. Because of the weather, it was not safe to move my belongings on the 24th and 25th. I also work two jobs and return home at 9:30 PM every day, which made it even more difficult to reschedule immediately.
My move-out date was January 31st. I respectfully asked the sales associate if I could have just one extra day, until February 1st, to complete my move due to the snowstorm. I was told that if I moved out on February 1st, I would be charged for the entire month. I asked to speak with the Manager or District Manager, hoping for some understanding. Unfortunately, I received the same response — no flexibility, and I would still be charged for a full month.
I previously rented with Extra Space Storage in Weatherford, and they provided a five-day grace period even when the weather was clear and sunny. That experience showed consideration for customers.
At this location, I felt that customer service was not a priority. There was no empathy or willingness to help during a difficult situation. The staff was not friendly or understanding. When a customer is facing bad weather and personal challenges, there should be some level of flexibility and basic courtesy.
This experience has been very frustrating and disappointing. I hope management seriously reviews how they treat their customers in situations like this.
Unsafe facility in Port St Lucie FL
I recently rented a storage unit at the Port St. Lucie location, and unfortunately my experience left me feeling very unsafe and extremely disappointed.
A few days after securing the unit, I moved my belongings in after dark. My unit is on the third floor, and I had multiple trips to unload my van. During that time, I repeatedly encountered a man wandering throughout the building. He was moving between floors and elevators, not carrying anything, and appeared to simply be roaming. Each time we crossed paths, he stared intensely and made me very uncomfortable.
At one point, I saw him exiting the women’s restroom, even though the men’s restroom was clearly unoccupied. This added to my concern. For a period of time, he and I were the only people in the building, which felt extremely unsettling.
I’ve rented storage units for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this. Typically, people are there briefly to load or unload items — not wandering around aimlessly after dark.
Two days later, I went to the front office to report what happened. Derek and Tim identified themselves as property managers. When I described the individual, Derek immediately knew who I meant and told me he has 24/7 access and is a long-term “resident.” I found that response confusing and concerning, given that this is a storage facility, not a residential property.
What troubled me most was how my safety concern was handled. Derek was dismissive, argumentative, and spoke to me in a condescending tone. He did not apologize or acknowledge my discomfort. When I asked about transferring to a first-floor unit for safety reasons, he was again dismissive and unwilling to help or provide any alternatives.
Customer safety concerns should be taken seriously, and professionalism from management should be the standard — not the exception. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
Women especially should use caution when visiting this location after dark and consider bringing someone with them.
Overall, this was a very disappointing and unacceptable experience

We had an excellent experience at Public Storage on 88 Blossom Hill Road, and it was all because of Roshan at the front desk. He is exceptionally helpful, professional, and patient. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel welcomed and truly valued as customers.
Roshan went above and beyond to assist us in every possible way. He took the time to clearly explain everything, answered all our questions without hesitation, and made sure we fully understood the process. He cleared up all our confusion and made what could have been a stressful situation feel smooth and easy.
His outstanding customer service, positive attitude, and genuine willingness to help really stood out. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and kind. Public Storage is lucky to have him!

Rate hike and poor lot conditions
The recent rate hike was automatically adjusted without our knowing $107.00 to $147.00.
Second, this high price does not cover lot maintenance. The condition of the lot is deplorable, snow not plowed, an inch or more of ice in the lot in the rows of lockers, huge piles of snow in front of our locker. It is unsafe to access our locker due to unsafe conditions.
There seems to be a complete disregard and lack of concern for our safety. Our locker at, (211 N Elmhurst Wheeling Illinois )the poor conditions began this year and last year since Public Storage took over ownership.
The conditions of the facility has presented a safety hazard to our gaining access to our locker.
Horrible Storage
Horrible! Do not use public storage…especially on 484 Sunrise Highway. There is only 2 parking and loading spots and the driveway is on an angle so your cart rolls into th street which was very poor planning. The elevator doesn’t work and when it does you need to wait 7-10 minutes for it. It’s overpriced and very poorly managed. Also when I called to express my concerns on a Tuesday afternoon I was told someone would call me back right away in about 5 minutes. No one called back- and when I called back the next day there was no message - I was told the same thing.

I have PROOF of criminal theft, forgery, and discrimination by the District Manager and staff:
THEY MOCKED ME: Staff openly laughed at my disability (unambulatory) and mocked my accent during a medical emergency instead of helping.
THEY LOOTED ME: I have evidence they cut my locks, entered my unit, and stole silver and antiques before any auction took place.
THEY SCAMMED ME: I WON my unit back at auction and PAID IN FULL. They took my money, refused to release my property, and secretly sold it the next morning for just $1,200 (a fraction of its value) to an insider.
THEY FORGED MY NAME: The contract has a signature that is not mine.
This isn't a business; it is a predatory trap. They destroyed my father's heirlooms and my life. I have filed a police report and am taking them to court.

I do not have a storage unit with Public Storage. In January, I made a one-time courtesy payment for a friend using my card. Her own bank card is the one on file and AutoPay is tied to her account — not mine.
In February, Public Storage charged MY card anyway, claiming it was the “last used card.” I never authorized recurring payments, never agreed to store my card, and never consented to future charges.
When I contacted customer service:
I was repeatedly told incorrect information
The representative ignored the fact that my card was not the card on file
I was denied access to a supervisor
I was told they would not speak to me because I’m not the account holder — despite charging MY money
I was told to “contact my bank” instead of fixing their mistake
Phones go unanswered, chat support is dismissive, and no one takes accountability for an unauthorized charge.
This is unacceptable, unethical, and borderline fraudulent behavior. If you ever help someone make a payment here, be warned — they may keep your card and charge it again without consent.
I am now disputing this with my bank and escalating further.

Do not use this company we lost all memories pictures cap and gowns years of trophies of which i know was all thrown away all a simple punishment as no one cam use any of those things. Sold for 180 dollars only for them to ask me to pay them. This is not the storage unit you want to use. They dont care about their customers or their situations. They sold my life for 180 dollars no 30 day notice after selling they contacted me as if they had not sold leading me to believe that my things were still safe. My things became infested with rodents rat droppings ruining my families clothes.

So basically they secretly raise your increase your rate every month and when you inquire about it because they've increased it almost by half they tell you that they do that based on the demands and their current rates well that's a big fat lie because if you get on their website they were offering units my size and bigger for half the price they're trying to make me pay all of a sudden surprisingly so based on their demand I could literally close my account out and reopen an account with them for half the price of what they're trying to charge me all of a sudden increase!

Miss 1 month ill auction your stuff
The only way these guys have over 3 stars is if family and friends did ratings for them. Fiirsr the building is filthy and gross. Second if you lose your job and ask them to work with you, they actually work against you. My rent went from $120 to $170. I understand rate increases but 40% is ridiculous and if you miss a months rent they start getting your storage reafy for auction! So i lost my job, they raised my rent, charged me ridiculous late fees and almost auctioned my stuff. So if you like a corporate America company that has no compassion and wants to price gouge you then you should definitely pick public storage. Now if you want a storage company who might raise your rent up a few bucks hete and hhete and work with you when you lose your job and that does not threaten you with putting your stuff on Storage Wars, i recommend Extra Space Storage. I will never ever go to Public Enemy #1, i mean Public Storage ever again. IF YOU HAVE YOUR STUFF AT PUBLIC MONSTROSITY, I MEAN PUBLIC DUMP.... PUBLIC STORAGE, MOVE IT NOW!!

They changed my lock and the storage company said it wasn't them.
When I recently went to access my storage unit, I discovered that the lock on my unit had been changed without my authorization. I did not replace the lock, and I was not notified of any lock change.
The only two options provided to me by the local location were:
1. That I personally hire a locksmith to open the unit, or
2. That I sign a document authorizing Public Storage to open the unit, releasing them from any responsibility.
I am extremely concerned, because in either situation, I would be assuming full responsibility if my belongings were damaged, missing, or accessed without authorization — despite the fact that I did not change the lock and have no explanation as to how this occurred.
This raises a serious security issue.

I would like to express how great an experience i had with Angel at the 880 Pickett Street location in Alexandria, Virginia.
Not only was she able to move me from the 3rd floor to the 4th floor, but managed to get me the online discount.
Her customer service is exceptional.
Why I Chose Public Storage
I was not expecting to have the experience that I did when I came to public Storage, I had used Storage Facilities in the past and did not like the service, the pricing or how the Facilities were maintained, this turned out not the case at Public Storage Managed By Jamie at 837 E Travis Blvd. Fairfield, CA 94533. Jamie was very knowledgeable about his Facility and had excellent customer service skills, he was very polite and didn't rush me into anything and by doing so I took a unit at the same day.
Jamie assisted me in every step of the way in getting my unit, getting setup on the App and moving into my storage unit. I have called Jamie several times after renting my unit, with questions and he always had a satisfactory answer, excellent service after assigned a contract that really counts.
I got my Storage Unit around July 10, 2025.
What do I like about the Public Storage Facility

3.The Hours of Great, 7 day a week access
4. Security High Fencing and good lighting and security cameras
5. Accessibility to help and assistance when needed.

Safety Issue and Unresolved Damage Claim
On December 12, 2026, a bay door at Public Storage, 15 Andrea Rd., Holbrook, NY, slammed onto my SUV while my pets were inside, causing damage and a serious safety risk. Management reviewed the video and confirmed the door caused the damage.
I provided two repair estimates as requested. Over a month later, Public Storage sent a settlement that denies liability, requires a W-9, and is not on official letterhead, which raised concerns.
The bay door has remained out of service since the incident. I am seeking prompt payment for my documented vehicle damage without requiring a W-9 and without forcing the customer to waive or deny liability.
My biggest complaint is that there was… the grounds were a disgrace with barely any snow removed for bin access
My biggest complaint is that there was hardly any snow removal at the location I was storing my stuff at (Peter’s Lane, Blackwood, NJ.) It was difficult to drive around property, get to your bin, and people were getting stuck in the snow. I this is a disgrace and would not recommend Public Storage for this reason.

Don't rent from Public Storage
Don't rent from Public Storage, it's a scam. I originally rented a 10×15 unit for $99. They arbitrarily raise the rent, often twice in a year. My current rate is $634. They will auction off your stuff, as soon 2 weeks, if you're late. They prey on the people who rent the units, people who don't have the resources to fight back. Stay away from their facilities.
