We were a group of 8 friends traveling from the States to visit a friend who lives in the Highlands. Private Tours Scotland was one of 2 companies we initially reached out to about planning our trip, and they responded quickly and with helpful info. Their pricing was reasonable and a better value than the other company we had contacted.

Alan Kerr planned the perfect itinerary for us, taking into account all the different types of places we wanted to see, activities we wanted to do, places we wanted to eat, etc. This was no easy feat given the variety of opinions, dietary restrictions, etc. in our group. Alan was very patient and gracious throughout the entire process, up to and including being very responsive when we had questions whilst in Scotland. He even (unprompted!) made sure that the 2 people who happened to be celebrating birthdays got some lovely birthday surprises.

We are grateful that Private Tours Scotland connected us to the perfect chauffeur, Grant Brown, who was an excellent driver with a delightful sense of humo(u)r and who had good tips and ideas for stops along the way. We were so glad to have him with us for the week. The Mercedes van fit all of us and our luggage and we were glad to be able to relax without having to worry about renting cars and driving.

Private Tours Scotland did a wonderful job planning the itinerary for our first exploration of Scotland. We absolutely recommend them and would work with them again. Rebecca our Travel Co-Ordinator was so helpful and answered all of our questions during planning process, as well as once we were on the ground. They put together the perfect itinerary for our group. Every stop was well planned (hotels, restaurants, and activities) which met and exceeded our expectations. We had the best time and made wonderful memories thanks to Private Tours Scotland! We just returned from a 10 day tour of Scotland. We cannot say enough good things about the entire trip. The trip plan was excellent and it proved to be outstanding in every way. Amy was our tour coordinator, and was very helpful and responsive in fine tuning our trip. During the trip, she was always available when we made some last minute changes. By always, we even mean weekends and after-hours! Our driver was Ally, and he worked alongside Amy to adjust the trip whenever we desired. Ally was a pleasure to have with us, and he made some great suggestions that helped to make our entire experience 5 Stars! We give Private Tours of Scotland, along with Amy and Ally, our strongest endorsement!

My husband and I worked with Private Tours Scotland to plan our incredible 10-night stay in Scotland. Private Tours Scotland was so easy to work with — they presented us with an initial itinerary and then helped us fine tune it to exactly what we wanted. They even made our dinner reservations (some of the most delicious food ever!).

We began our trip in stunning Edinburgh (my new favorite city!) with day trips to St. Andrews and the Cromlix for tea. After four nights at the luxurious Balmoral, we headed northwest to the beautiful Isle of Eriska and stayed at the gorgeous Isle of Eriska Resort and Spa (you’ll feel like royalty at this country estate).

Next, we made our way by ferry to the Isle of Skye and spent two days exploring the magical landscape, seeing sites like the Fairy Pools, Kilt Rock, and the Storr.

We crossed the magnificent Skye bridge and headed inland to Gairloch to spend one night at the exquisite Shieldaig Lodge before making our way to Loch Ness for a private Loch Ness cruise (so much fun!) and finally to Inverness to spend our last night in Scotland at the lovely Ness Walk Hotel.

This was one of the most amazing trips I’ve been on, and I can’t say enough kind things about Private Tours, Amy (our Private Tours contact), and Craig who drove us across Scotland. Spending 10 days in a car with a stranger can be a bit awkward, but we immediately felt comfortable with Craig and having him as our driver made our experience even better.

I highly recommend Private Tours Scotland if you want a first class adventure straight out of a fairy tale.

We did a 17 day tour of Scotland for 3 people including our 16yo granddaughter. The trip exceeded out highest expectation. Private Tours of Scotland put together a perfect package based on our basic request to experience the true Scotland, not just the big tourist stuff. All of us, included our granddaughter loved every day. There were several days that planned activities had to cancel due to weather, but our Driver filled the days with other sights and activities. Our Travel Co-ordinator, Florence and driver Alnerto share credit for the success of our trip. We will definitely use them for any future trips to the UK.

It's impossible to include in a short review everything that made this trip such an incredible experience. Alisdair and Amy went above and beyond to craft a well-rounded, well-paced, fascinating experience. Our driver, Neil, was professional, and attentive, and made sure everything went without a hitch. He was a joy to travel with. I could not possibly recommend Private Tours Scotland more enthusiastically.

Worked with Private Tours Scotland to set up a week-long golf trip for my Father's 60th Birthday. I could not be happier with our experience. My dad and the other members of our party gave me 1000 compliments for how I planned the trip, but it was really all thanks to Struan, Amy, and a few others at PTS. They were extremely easy to work with, and created a full agenda from hotels, restaurants, golf, and daily activities - I didn't lift a finger. On top of it all, our driver for the week, Ally, was truly awesome, and made the trip.

Let me start by saying - my husband is afraid to fly. In order to get him to agree to a very long flight to Scotland, I had to tempt him with a VERY special itinerary full of unique experiences. We definitely wanted to avoid the kind of trip where we would be a small part of a very large bus group, subject to the limitations of large group travel (some people love this, but we just don’t). Private Tours Scotland/Luxury Scotland Tours (PTS/LST) was the answer we needed. We chose the Malt Whisky Indulgence Tour, and every aspect was exceptionally choreographed to deliver a stress-free, relaxing and fun travel experience. PTS/LST created a daily itinerary, based on our personal preferences and interests, that balanced distillery tours and warehouse tastings with scenic nature excursions, castles, and historic sites. We were delighted with the accommodations (4- and 5-star) that provided graciously appointed and comfortable rooms. PTS/LST suggested delicious restaurants for each evening and made the dining reservations on our behalf.

But for us, the best part of the trip was the private car and driver. We knew this was a good decision after visiting with other North American travelers we met along the way, who had naively thought that driving on the other side of the road would be an easy transition. More than once, we heard about the near misses and high-stress journeys. And our driver was phenomenal! From the moment Alan greeted us at our pick-up location, until he dropped us off for our final goodbyes, he shepherded us through the itinerary, offering additional insight to the places we visited, answering questions and sharing his love for his home country by letting us see Scotland through his eyes. Our only job was to sit back and enjoy. We truly feel like we made a friend that we will keep long after our return to the states.

I would HIGHLY recommend Private Tours Scotland/Luxury Scotland Tours and will be singing their praises for a long time to come.

They have a wealth of knowledge about things to see and wonderful places to stay. Our driver was the perfect combination of knowledgeable, personable and professional. He was able to help us make minor adjustments to our plans, adding and dropping stops as time allowed. It was so nice to have somebody else handle the mechanics of travelling, allowing us to just show up and have fun.
