Ordered, the Monte Carlo chips, in the 500 set, firstly, easy to use website and the ability to customise denominations at no extra cost, is a nice touch. Delivery was quick ( arrived earlier than estimated ) and items were very well packaged to prevent damage. The chips themselves are also really good, nice build quality, bright distinctive colouration and bold numerals, ( very handy if you and your poker group become more incoherent as the night goes on and the drinks are flowing ) if that was where this review ended then I would be giving it five stars, however the carry case that the chips arrived in is where my issue lies, from outward appearances it is a nice sturdy looking brushed aluminium case, however from the moment you uncoupled the two clips you notice that the lid springs open and sits at about a 20 degree angle, telling you that the box is either slightly too small for the chips, or that the hinges have some kind of manufacturing defect, ( either way I don’t think it will help with the lifespan of the case. Next, it is a CARRY case , which means you should be able to pick it up by the handle and carry it, however this case does not have the build strength/ quality to hold 500 14 gram chips without the case buckling / warping around the handle area, ( again not good for lifespan of the case. ) now this might not bother you if your chips spend the year at home in a particular location, however if like me you take them with you to different locations then you will be forced to cradle them under your arm rather than use the carry handle. Lastly the box interior, the section layout for where you store the chips is not molded plastic like in cheaper case but wooden slats ( an improvement you would think) and yes, aesthetically it is a nicer touch, however wait till you take a few chips out and the remaining ones fall flat face down and you have to fiddle with your oversized fingers to get them up and out again, ( now this one might seem like a minor annoyance (and it is) until you then discover that the dividing slats are not actually fixed or glued to the base of the case, and your flat face down chips slide underneath either into the next compartment, or worse gets stuck underneath the dividing slats, why on earth these aren’t fixed down is a mystery, surely that would increase the strength and rigidity of the box ? . And the fact that they aren’t stuck down means that they are much more likely to break / become more loose and unstable over time, again reducing the lifespan of the carry case.

So in short
Website. Clear and easy to use
Delivery packaging. Quick and secure
Chips. Nice quality, value for money
Case. For what I would consider a premium poker chip range, this is not what I would call up to standard,

I bought this set to replace an old none numbered set we have been using for years, and I bought what I believed was good quality ( and the chips really are ) as I wanted it to be the last set I ever bought. Feel a little disappointed that although the chips will last me out, I may well be having to replace the cases at some point in the future, as the poor build quality does not give me any confidence in it lasting any length of time.
