works just as intended, just watch the videos explaining how to set it up and make sure to follow every step exactly and itll work as intended forever. ( for me at least ) some real smart people were behind this product and it was worth every penny. im sure there can be SOME ways to make the set up process more streamline/more fool-proof but thats a job position that huge companies pay thousands of dollars to get right. for a product made my some nerds, i think its so good.

Feb 2025 order Received Feb 2026. Still Very Happy!

I pre-ordered a babble mouth tracker in February 2025. It was announced that it would take time to be delivered and I understood that going into the order. I received if February 2026. I am happy with the product!

The tariff situation in the US caused a lot of oddities with how shipping to the US could even work, and I know this because I read their discord announcements and updates. Since I had a very early pre-order, I received mine in the 1st batch they shipped to the US and it was received without any additional delays or fees.

The babble tracker works as intended, most of my hardware woes lie with the Bigscreen Beyond 2e that I plug it into.

Software that the Babble mouth tracker relies on is being updated and I am hopeful it will continue to be updated for better and more accurate performance. I empathize with every single outside the US small business manufacturer trying to ship products into the US right now.

I rated 4 stars because communication needed to be better. Emails, not discord announcements. Your customers are everyone who ordered, not just discord users. There's probably plenty of people upset that wouldn't be if they received email announcements or other updates that were more transparent.

They are doing what they can, so give them some leeway.

Yea, I'm one of the many people with an order bouncing around in customs due to some error win AnPost or whatever. Yea for me. I ordered a Babble half a year ago and when I finally get shipping information it gets stuck at customs.

But PiShock's been handling it, there's only so much they can do, and I dont expect a small company like this to just be able to reship everything caught in the net of customs right away. At least not at this scale.

So have some patience with them during this time, it sucks to not get that thing you ordered as fast as possible, but this isn't lifesaving medical equipment. These are cameras for your mouth, and zappers for your... wherever you're strapping them too. You can live another day without face tracking, or nipple zapping.

Not worth the price.

The device works alright, comes in a cheaply feeling 3d printed box, in it sit some electronics loosely placed. Overall the box feels very cheap, just make sure to not drop it.

The shockers themselves are units you can easily get yourself from something like AliExpress, but you need to get them from this company instead because you're buying a "license" to use them on their service. If you ever think of adding more units and find out that you can obtain these things much more cheaply even locally, don't bother.

The user-interface on their website is poorly designed and confusing. For something advertised to be used on VR, the buttons sure are small when using them in something like an overlay. Miss clicks are common, and not exactly what you want when controlling a device like this.
And now that you've learned how to use the interface yourself, get ready to teach another person because that's the whole fun of the thing, but in my experience people will easily get turned off on doing so when they start using the interface and first need a whole tutorial on doing so. You'd want something like this to be easy and quick to pick up.

The delay, oh it's so bad. Ranging from half a second to something more than a few. For someone on the other end it feels extremely disconnected with action to response on the other end. And it's not like me or any other user on the other end had terrible internet.

Documentation is terrible, all over the place and makes the entire service feel clumsily put together. Most of the information can be found on their discord server, which when joining felt more like a fetish space than a support space. I understand the nature of the project, but clear separation of business and casual would be appreciated.

And then you learn alternatives exist, for much cheaper, higher quality and open source. I won't name them here, but they're easy to track down.

I'm totally up to pay a little more for a niche product, hardware isn't easy to create, but overall I wasn't impressed with this product to be able to endorse them.

Great Problem Resolution

The product itself is a 5 star experience, the only issue that came was with the shipping, while the first package arrived in the shortest possible time, it was missing 1/2 of the haptic modules. Normally this would warrant a lower review in my opinion, but support was very quick and understanding, and resolved my issue in under 4 emails total.

Support wasnt ever frustrating or unreasonable. Obviously I would have preferred everything arrived the first time, but given the circumstances of the New Year's Sale, this wasn't so bad.

Product itself, again, is great, absolutely no complaints there.

High quality build

Arrived a little after the stated delivery date, but it wasn't a huge deal for me.

The build quality of the actual module feels good, I'm not afraid of dropping it off of my desk on accident.
I can't say the same for the hub, it feels like it's made of cheap plastic, but since the hub is meant to stay plugged in somewhere where you seldom interact with it, I think it's acceptable.

The instructions for setting it up were a little confusing, I had to ask a friend who owns one to guide me through it, sadly they were busy so I managed to figure it out on my own. The way you pair is kinda confusing, and the software is a little janky, but I did get it working eventually, and it works well.

Works good, but expect it taking some work setting up

Works good, had good fun with it. Although setting it up takes a bit of work, its nothing impossible. But all in all, expect some unpleasantries, its not a commercial company making it, its basically a home business thats still in the works. Reccomend it if you can afford it and are prepared to deal with few small issues along the way.

Poor communication, discord required for any reasonable order updates

Like other reviews, I’m one of the folks who ordered an item (Project Babble) last year. I ordered it in April with a promised delivery of July/August. Now, I get it, scaling is hard, tariffs were nonsense, yadda yadda, sure makes sense. However, I received absolutely zero formal communication until January on my order. In January, half a year after my quoted delivery date, they revealed that they’ve had the ability to mass email everyone the whole time and chose not to do it months ago when we deserved an update. I should not have had to go so far out of my way to get an update on a delinquent order. So, I’m not upset about the delays, again, I get it, the world has gone to shit, but the absolute complete lack of any formal communication until I had waited 6 months beyond the promised delivery time is inexcusable and reflects exceedingly poorly on PiShock. The next time y’all type a ping to your community with an update, consider sending a message/email direct to the people who ordered the thing instead of pinging a community of people who largely do not have this item.

With proper communication, so many people who are upset and blaming you on production delays would likely be a lot more understanding of the situation. This communication deficiency is disrespectful to your customers and improvement is actionable, you can do better. I know you're reading these reviews, based on the comments I'm seeing, this is your sign to start.

By the by, the mass email sent on Jan 9 mentioned that it would be shipping in Jan. It did not ship until the end of Feb and is using a carrier seemingly incapable of international tracking. (I have not received it) Y'all *really* have to keep your customers in the loop. I will not be purchasing any other new product that Pishock takes under its wing due to the absolute disregard I have felt for being a customer.

Edit: (3/9/26) They seem to have addressed me in a recent announcement on their discord, and my response to it. It does not matter that sending mass emails is "a semi-manual process that takes a lot of time to do." It should have been done as soon as you lapsed the first delivery window to explain to everyone what the holdup is. It is your duty as a merchant to your customers to be in the loop, for the thousands of us still waiting, we have surely spent far more combined time seeking out updates than you've spent sending them and we're the ones paying you. You mention that you're working on announcement tools, sure, but until we no longer have to be in the Discord for order updates, you should have a spot in your checkout and order confirmation email that states "Join our discord for updates to your order" with a link so that people know where to look. This, again, is actionable and something you can do now instead of providing an excuse. If you won't use your tools, at least give us direct line to tell us how to use ours.

It’s pawesome

I enjoy the product a lot, the shocker itself feel sturdy, though the base less so. The packaging feels premium.

i find the basic strap they offer don’t look or feel great, but that’s not necessarily a problem as it works as required and doesn’t slip.

onboarding was a little complicated for me due to my unorthodox network situation but i was able to get some help and make it work!

I can’t comment on longevity as I haven’t had it for super long. All in all i definitely don’t regret my purchase, it feels very reliable.

Growing pains, but getting better

I have owned my PiShock kit for almost a year now and while they've been fun to play around with, things could be better.

First off, their modules are rebranded chinese dog collars that they are pushing a $20 markup on in the form of license fee, which is really just an ID code for each shocker. But this is fair in my book because the server cost are not cheap, so I won't knock them for this.

The quality of the modules is the same of that which you can order elsewhere online, so no big surprise, they perform the same and have the same lipo cell longevity issues. Expect about a year of hard use before the cells start to degrade. Luckily, they are not hard to replace.

Second off, they are charging $60 for a hub that can crafted for about $25 and are trying to pass it off as operational, R&D and staff cost. To be fair to them, as a radio operator, the RF section is pretty clean for what it is. Still though, this is definately a bit steep for an ESP and an ASK GPIO driven transmitter. But also, again, server cost because they do not charge a subscription and I know first hand that servers are not cheap to operate...I guess they can have a pass here as well.

I think for what they cost, the level of support you get (which is actually really darn good!), the available integrations and the experience that the community provides- These guys are doing okay.
--

Now that being said, there are a few bones to pick here:

PiShock is not doing anything special here aside from providing closed sourced operation and tight knit community that is openly hostile towards their only real competitor which happens to be open source.

If you looking to build a full on kit for BDSM fun and plan on having more than two to four shockers...honestly, OpenShock has treated me far better cost wise amd experience wise, if you do not count the self hosting cost, which I don't because the infrastructure was already in place.

I have a kit of twelve of modules, some PiShock branded, some generic amazon. I have had to double up on my thigh and wrist modules for nearly a year because PiShock's licensing system is broken and you cannot purchase additional licenses and they won't fix this because its not an easy fix for them. Yes, I made their staff aware of this issue nearly a year ago.

Also, in my experience, my self hosted solution has been far quicker and much more stable in response to commands- but take this with a grain of salt. They have a lot of users to balance and support, I don't. One thing that has always annoyed me with their software and server setup is having time to brace for impact, which isn't a thing with my OpenShock instance.

I'm going to say this:
For what they are, in all honesty, PiShock is trying and they are doing okay. They'll get things ironed out eventually. But what you are actually paying for is the community experience and one of the few products left that does not have a subscription tied to it.

For small kits and decent integrations, go PiShock and you won't be disappointed. For large kits where you need a lot of IDs for modules and you want near instant feedback from commands, learn OpenShock and build your own kit.

I run both platforms together, but still find myself in favor of PiShock in the long run for social gatherings and raw support.

Never recieved any email

Never recieved any email, tracking number, or really any information about my order. Have been just about entirely in the dark since I paid 130$ months ago. I know US Customs is abysmal right now. I get that. I mean ffs, I backed SlimeVR for considerably more money! But the difference is that SlimeVR gave an update every single week on their Discord. Not great, but still weekly information on where things are in the process. Being forced to join a Discord server, just for the chance that maybe information about my purchase will be tacked onto a server announcement once a month if I'm lucky is NOT the way to do things.

Delay after delay

Ordered a Babble face tracker in June 2025, still received nothing. It started to ship on 17 Feb 2026 but it has been stuck in a loop ever since. I would have refunded if it wasn't shipping.

No complaints, no issues.

Purchased a hub and a haptic module, it arrived within a perfectly acceptable timeframe, with no issues to speak of, beyond mistyping my email and having to walk of shame myself to the support email to ask them to change it.

Got two pishock and one project babble.

Got two pishock and one project babble.
The product are well finished physically, they look neat. And wearing them is pretty satisfying.
Software side, it was a bit tricky for me to setup pishock, so i had to use their wiki, but when I've read carefully the steps, it work great. Only the setup was not easy for me. The only thing to project babble was to position it correctly, which take a few seconds.
So yeah, pretty happy with theses product, and the community is good when you need help
