STUART PENROSE replaced our roof and very helpfully undertook additional joinery work while the scaffolding was up . He and his team were professional , friendly , hardworking and tidy and used good quality materials . They made the experience much easier than we had anticipated . We would have no hesitation recommending this firm .

Can’t thank Stuart and his team enough for the re-roofing work they carried out on our period bungalow. Dom, Duncan and especially Riley and Ryan who were on site every day and worked tirelessly under Stuart’s direction.
On first meeting Stuart it was obvious that he has a real passion and enthusiasm for his work, combined with a wealth of knowledge, expertise and a highly professional approach.
Stuart kept us advised of progress at every stage of the work, even regularly updating his web site with pictures and commentary.
It’s a rare quality these days to find someone who has pride in their work, is always prepared to go the extra mile, shows great attention to detail and refuses to compromise on quality. Stuart is that person, from experimenting with mortar mixes to find the ideal colour, driving across the country to check out reclaimed ridge tiles, having ridge tiles specifically coloured to his specification, correcting and improving an existing issue where a flat roof joined the main roof, and even calling out over two weekends after particularly bad storms to ensure that everything was safe and secure.
Above all Stuart is honest and trustworthy, it was a pleasure getting to know him and his team, and having them around our home. It was also heartening to see how supportive and encouraging Stuart is to his apprentices and the mentoring he provides to them.
The finished roof looks fantastic and I have no doubts that it will last another seventy plus years!

I purchased my house 3 years ago and from the surveyor's report i knew that the roof was the original slate roof with no membrane from 1939. I decided for peace of mind and due to some drips during some of the intense storms we now experience frequently to look at re-roofing it. After google searching various companies I came across Stuart Penrose roofing I was impressed with Stuarts previous work and experience and contacted him, we agreed a date and time for Stuart to assess the roof. Stuart arrived on time and immediately gave me a sense of a professional craftsperson with a passion for his trade. He discussed the current state of the roof, what i wanted and after consideration what would be the best solution. He said he would send a detailed statement of work and costs for the project in the next few days. Few days later the SOW appeared laying out in detail what he proposed, materials to be used and cost breakdown and stage payment plan in short a completely professional quote. Stuart had suggested i get some other quotes so I could benchmark against his proposal which I then did..... what followed was 3+ months of e-mail, txt and phone calls to various large well know and small roofers and builders across North down and Belfast at the end of which I was abit shocked at the unprofessionalism of all of them from missed appointments, brief inaccurate quotes, quotes given via txt , not returning calls, txt or e-mails etc etc At the end the difference between Stuart and everyone else was staggering. I contacted Stuart and gave him the job. We arranged a start date , between the start date any questions I had were answered promptly and completely. The job started on the agreed date , Stuart gave a safety brief and arranged that when anyone including my children entered the house during work hours all work was stopped and people were escorted in or out. Stuart was on site everyday accompanied by Riley and Ryan all were polite, considerate of the house as if it was their own and incredibly hard workers. The roof was being completely replaced reusing as many of the lovely existing slate as possible, new batons, hi-tech membrane, new zinc soffits, gutters and down pipes, new copper flashing on the chimneys. Stuart suggested colour's for the soffits and gutters showed me samples which i approved. We discussed if it would be possible to insulate and floor the roofspace at the same time and Stuart and the team were able to accomplish this as well even though it wasn't easy to do so. Every day the site was swept and cleaned so the around the house remained as tidy as possible. We experienced a bad storm during the work and Stuart and the team spent aday storm proofing the house and site, considering half the roof was off at that stage its was testament to Stuart and his team that zero damage occurred. The work was completed on time to the agreed fixed price even with Stuart giving the house an amazing bespoke zinc ridge line as he wasn't happy with the tiled ridge colour matching! The new roof looks amazing, the colours of the water goods,Ridge etc are perfectly matched we couldn't be happier and are going to engage Stuart and his team for some additional work to the property. This has been a long review but a new roof is an expensive undertaking for any home owner. I can recommend Stuart and his team 100% to anyone considering getting work done to their roof they are on a different level to everyone else. From start to finish it was flawless execution of what can be a daunting project for any home owner all that worry disappeared with Stuart, Riley, Ryan and Dominic at Stuart Penrose Roofing they went above and beyond our expectations.

Excellent roofing company. We have a tiled conservatory which overtime, has started to leak. After various roofing contractors coming and making half hearted attempts to deal with the issue using mastic, it did not solve the problem. Then, we contacted Stewart Penrose Roofing. When we first met Stewart, he instilled a lot of confidence in us and his knowledge of roofing was boundless. He advised that the low pitched roof tiles needed replacing. Without a doubt, the most stressful part of getting a new roof is finding the right person to do the job. Unfortunately, to my dismay, I found there are a lot of rogue Roofers out there - so beware!

After months of searching, and having been let down by several Roofers myself, I had got to the stage in thinking if there was anyone out there I could trust. However, I needn't have worried. Knowing my plight, a friend recommended Stuart Penrose Roofing and when I read online about his attention to detail, I knew he was the Roofer for me. They say first impressions count and they certainly did - in fact, it was during my initial meeting with Stuart that, he not only calmed my fears about what I been told from other Roofers but, for the first time in this whole roofing business, I felt a sense of peace. It was then, when he explained everything from start to finish that I knew I had chosen the right man for the job. My sister, Linda, also with me at the time, was very impressed saying she would look no further for her Roofing Contractor.

Stuart Penrose is a true gentleman. He is trustworthy, honest, friendly, professional and is a wealth of information about his trade. He is someone who will go far and beyond the call of duty to make sure his customer is happy. Knowing the perfectionist I am, and to ensure I got the exact colour of tiles I wanted, he not only personally drove himself to collect them (in his own free time) but also ensured all batch numbers were correct and, for this, and much more, I owe him a heartfelt thanks. I would also extend this heartfelt thanks to his team, particularly those who also "went the extra mile for me" by giving of their time to make sure the job would be done. Not forgetting the hardworking Scaffolders, of course!

Stuart is a man of integrity and this is reflected in his work ethic. All work by him and his team is carried out with such precision and to a very high standard. He cares passionately about his job and his Customer Care is second to none. I am told, at one stage, towards the end of the job, Stuart and some of his team could be seen working during horrendous weather conditions in torrential rain. Also, on completion of the job, and true to his word, everything was left so clean and tidy. His communication skills are also outstanding. As I was out of the house while the work was taking place, Stuart made sure I was kept up to date with progress by daily emailing me photos with comments on that day's work, not forgetting the Completion Manual I received at the end of the job. After all this, I cannot emphasize enough the calibre of the man I have found in Stuart Penrose.

So, was I impressed? - You bet I was. Would I recommend him? - Highly, 100%

As the winter approaches, I now have complete peace of mind, knowing mine is a Penrose roof. Put quite simply - A class job by a class act! Thank you Stuart.

We are a not-for-profit organisation based in East Belfast. Our building is older and with a number of flat roofs and we have had ongoing issues over the years which have now been resolved by Stuart and his team.

Purchased some copper flashing from Stuart cut and shaped to my specifications as I was installing myself. He was communicative throughout and on collection gave helpful advice for installation as I'd never worked with copper before. Extremely professional, communicative and helpful. Just a few weeks after moving into our ‘forever home’, it was a shock to find the roof was riddled with leaks. During the following two years, I contacted most of the roofers within a 15-mile radius to have work ranging from minor to relatively costly carried out. The regular damage to walls and ceilings caused by water ingress necessitated repairs from yet more tradespeople. It was financially and emotionally draining.

Stuart Penrose had already replaced the roofs of several other houses in my area, so I knew his reputation for honesty and quality was well-deserved. I was confident that the work would be carried out to a high specification, on time and any issues dealt with efficiently. Of course, this should be the case with all trades who we entrust with our homes, but unfortunately is not always the reality.

When I initially spoke with Stuart, he diagnosed the problems with my roof and told me exactly how it should be fixed. His knowledge was unsurpassed and he spoke so positively about all things roof-related, I even found myself becoming enthusiastic. Over the following days, he patiently answered my emailed questions about the finer details of the project. The comprehensive tender setting out exactly what would happen, when and the pricing gave me further peace of mind. When it came time for work to begin, I knew exactly what to expect. The fact that Stuart himself would be on site every day gave me ultimate confidence that any problems would be dealt with immediately by the experts.

Especially considering the scale of work that was needed, the week when Stuart and his team were on site was not particularly taxing or disruptive. They arrived on time every day, worked quickly so the roof was never left open overnight, and left the site clean and tidy at the end of each day. Mindful of our safety, Stuart personally stopped all work and escorted my children and I from the house when we needed to leave or enter. I enjoyed our chats as he updated me about progress. He took great pride in showing me the innovative and top quality products that were being used on the roof. Seeing the roof take shape in the mid-week progress report – with detailed explanations and photos – was fascinating. The final report with its wealth of information and photos will be invaluable for a surveyor should I ever come to sell the house.

This is a lengthy review, as befits the lengthy issues I had with my roof. Now they have come to an end and I am able to move onto the more enjoyable aspects of homeownership. Significant structural work is often fraught with anxiety, but for me this was by far the least stressful part of being the owner of a defective roof thanks to the expertise and thoughtful approach taken by Stuart and his team. I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to contact Stuart Penrose if they need a problematic roof fixed once and for all.
