Avoid - dishonest

Beware of this firm. The owner (who TrustPilot have asked me not to name personally) is a charlatan.
I called him because his website said he was based in my town although when I visited the site marked with an arrow on the map there is nobody there. No actual address is provided.

I explained to him that my Dell computer would not start. He agreed to bring a replacement part and mend my computer for a fee of £160 including a £80 call out fee and parts.

When he arrived I was immediately concerned as he had no knowledge of why he was here but said he had the necessary part in his car. He tried to instal it and told me there was movement but when I asked him to show me he said there seemed to be a problem which he would need to fix with a Dell specific part.

We agreed that he would take my machine back to his workshop. As he was only here for about 15 minutes he agreed that the call out fee of £80 (for an hour’s work) would cover the repair.

The next day I received a terse text message telling me he had diagnosed the problem and that not only the starter but also the motherboard were damaged and my computer was not worth repairing. I do not know whether he damaged the motherboard but it did not seem to be the problem when he was here. He said he would send me the data from my hard drive if (and after) I sent him another £130 for retrieving it There was no mention of returning my computer.

When I queried this he acknowledged that he had not yet retrieved my data but would do so and get back to me. When he did he said my data was now on a memory stick which he would deliver with my computer. He said he had spent another half an hour on the retrieval and wanted another £40. I was unimpressed but agreed.

He delivered the computer and the memory stick. As we were in lockdown he handed them over from his car and received his money.

When I looked at the memory stick I could not find my data. I assumed it must be somewhere and called and sent messages asking for help. None were answered.

I have had the memory stick checked by a real computer expert. My data is not there. It is an old memory stick with retrievable information belonging to somebody else and a suspected virus.

Worse, when the expert looked at my computer he discovered that my hard drive was missing and had been replaced with an apple hard drive which contains 55,000 items belonging to somebody else.

The expert also thinks one of two memory cards has been removed.

I tried to contact the reviewed by text, email, contact us and phone and visited where he purported to be but could not reach him.

He had gone to ground and would not respond and blocked my calls.

I finally managed to reach him (after first writing this review) by using a different telephone line.

He pretended that he had not replied to my messages because he could not remember who I was. He assured me that the swapped hard drive was a mistake and that he would send me mine.

I sent him a message(at his request) containing the Dell hard drive description (so that he could identify my property) and asked him to confirm he had sent the hard drive. No response was received and when I tried to call him again he had blocked the other line.

He did then send me a message on Tuesday 8 December to say the hard drive had been posted and provided a tracking number which looked legitimate. The posting address was nowhere near where his premises were shown on the website.

He did not mention the missing memory card which I had raised with him.

Today is 22 December and the hard drive has still not arrived.

I am also still trying to find the owner of the apple disk I have in the hope of reuniting them with their pictures. I asked the reviewed to let me know whose it is but as usual he did not reply. As I do not have his address I cannot even return it to him.

All I have received from him since 8 December is an abusive email sent after he read this review. In that message he admitted that he had given me the memory stick and taken my money knowing that it did not contain my pictures.

I have reported him to the police and trading standards.

I do not like to give bad feedback but this person is dangerous and I wish I had read the other genuine reports on this page before I allowed him into my home.

Peter Kempe is a very strange man.
He has tells a complete lie that he paid £130 for data recovery. HE DID NOT. He paid £40 only ,as he said he wouldn't pay more. Therefore he got 30 mins of labour of data recovery, which wasn't all his information. All his information would have taken 3 hours. Mr. Kempe, you get what you pay for.

I inadvertendly returned the wrong drive as I was working on more than one machine that evening- a simple mistake to make. Yet he immediately brands me a thief!! How rude.
His drive was returned to him by recorded delivery.
