Received my Topping DX9 Discrete eventually, but the experience felt like going back in time

Contrary to many of the 1-star reviews I’ve read, Otic Audio are not scammers.

I eventually received my expensive Topping DX9 Discrete (Silver) on 16 April 2026 — 17 days after ordering on 30 March.

This was my second order from Otic Audio. The first time (a Fiio K11 DAC/AMP) arrived significantly faster, although I did still have to chase them once. Unfortunately, this second experience was much more frustrating.

At the time of purchase, the silver model was clearly showing as “in stock” / Add to Cart, with the website stating a typical delivery time of 3-5 business days.
The responses I eventually received from the team were polite and satisfactory when they came. However, there was very little real or rapid action taken. Their first reply mentioned they had been closed for the Easter holiday, which is understandable, but there was no holiday notification on the website or any automated email response to let customers know in advance.

I had to send multiple chase emails over many days with long periods of silence in between. They also mentioned having email bounce-back issues, but I received emails from other sources throughout the period without any problems.

They eventually confirmed the item was in stock, promised to ship on Friday, 10 April, and printed a DPD label. Even then, the parcel still sat with them for several more days before it was finally collected and delivered on 16 April.

The product itself arrived safely and in perfect condition, exactly as described.

That said, the whole process felt like going back in time to the early days of online shopping, where dispatch and delivery times were significantly longer. In 2026, we’re all accustomed to fast, reliable service (Amazon-style next-day or 1-2 day delivery). For an item clearly listed as “in stock”, a 17-day wait with slow communication feels unnecessary — even for a small team. Small size shouldn’t mean this level of delay and lack of updates in today’s market.

I feel that 3 stars is fair due to the service provided. I did receive my item in perfect condition, so scoring lower would not be fair, but the whole process was quite worrying and stressful, so I cannot score any higher.

If you're considering ordering from Otic Audio, be prepared that even “in-stock” items can take much longer than expected, and you will likely need to chase them several times. The audio gear is good when it finally arrives, but the overall buying experience and communication need clear improvement.

Do not order

Do not order! I ordered a casette player back in January and am still waiting for it to ship, they.dont.not respond to my emails. I think this is a fake site.

Nice fitting headphones

Nice fitting headphones, over ear rather than on ear. Comfortable to wear over a whole session.
Transmitted noise, rubbing the cable or touching the casing is quite noticable, more so than other headphones I use, but at the price, Just about acceptable.

Ordered a set of Dunu SA6 MK2's from…

Ordered a set of Dunu SA6 MK2's from Otic last October (2025). Sorry for the delay in writing the review.
I bought the SA6's as I was quite frankly fed up with Bluetooth audio having been using a pair of Bowers and Wilkins Pi8's via my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. I also ordered a ifi Audio Gryphon DAC/Headphone amp from a larger retailer due to a great black Friday deal. Otic originally informed me that delivery would be likely be 7-10 working days, but in the event the Dunu's took about 5 weeks to arrive. That said the staff at Otic kept me fully informed and whilst I could have possibly sourced them cheaper from a Chinese website or Dunu direct, I was adamant that I wanted to use a UK retailer, to deal with import/customs and returns should anything go wrong with the iem's.
It is a huge shame that there is nowhere really in the UK (apart from Elise Audio in Paddington, who I did contact, but their response was of the standard offered by Otic) to try such items, so I bought blind. If I where spending the same amount of money again on a set of iem's, would I choose the SA6 MK2's, perhaps not, but tbh and without going into a full review I am delighted with the Dunu's. Used with the ifi Gryphon they make the Bowers and Wilkins Pi8's sound like they came out of a Christmas cracker. The SA6's and Ifi Gyphon form a formidable partnership for the money and I would recommend that anyone looking for a good set of iem's at this price point, consider the Dunu's.
Also and perhaps the main point, would/will I buy again from OTIC, YES!!

Order on the 25.1.26 and item that…

Order on the 25.1.26 and item that stated it was instock on there website after a few days of not receiving my item contacted the company for a reply 2 days later to state it was a Pre order and had to wait for a week or so after 2 weeks still nothing asked for to cancel the order to be told there's fee's that need to be taken from the refund so I contacted my bank explained this scam and got my money refunded and to this date haven't heard or received anything thing from this shambles of a company steer well clear ordered from another company arrived the next day

Not given product

Like other victims of OTIC here, I purchased a product (Topping DX5 2) that I did not receive, like many I asked for a refund, as they would not respond to emails about a return, I have yet to receive my money back

I clearly have emails from OTIC that they cancled yet they lied to klarna and my bank telling them I haven't returned the product they never sent me so I cant be refunded, they are doing this to lots of people as shown in the reviews, leaving me 300£ down and no product, they have decided this is an acceptable way to make money, please please avoid.

Be cautious

I ordered the Final A6000 on 8 February, and the buying experience was more confusing than it needed to be. The product appeared “in stock” via Google search and Apple Pay, but it turned out to be a pre-order. There was no clear communication upfront about that or about expected dispatch timing.

After ordering, updates were minimal. My phone call wasn’t answered twice, and I didn’t receive a reply to my email for three days. When OTIC did respond, they explained the A6000 were en route from the warehouse and should arrive with them in about a week, after which they’ll ship my order.

I appreciate the eventual clarification, but the lack of transparency and slow communication made this feel unnecessarily uncertain. I would update this review once I received the actual product.

Ok this may sound strange but don’t…

Ok this may sound strange but don’t expect your purchase to come in 3 to 5 days it won’t happen. I ordered 2 separate items the first took 4 weeks but it did arrive well packed and I wasn’t in a hurry. So a couple of weeks later I ordered a second item expecting it to take a while to arrive. I wasn’t disappointed 4 weeks again but well packed, so if you don’t mind waiting I would recommend Otic they pack there items very well but you have to wait which was fine with me as I didn’t need them straight away. Order in advance and you’ll be fine, I wouldn’t hesitate using them again!

Portable cd

Took too long for delivery after the initial order 29th Nov - 10th Jan. Haven't used the product yet as it's now a birthday present ( not Christmas) for February. After enquiring where the product was I did receive emails but needed prompting.

Staff closed up and Left for Xmas 22nd December. . No contact to tell no delivery until New Year. Was told twice to expect delivery by Xmas. Poor customer service. Disappointed.

Bought a streamer on pre order

Bought a streamer on pre order, was told it would be two weeks from China and one week to post from Otic to my house. Communication was great and it arrived within the 3 weeks estimated.
I was worried reading other reviews but can honestly say they were great. Also saved a lot of money be not paying uk import tax, item was cheaper to buy from Otic.

Nearly 2 months and still dont have the item

I ordered a fiio s15 streamer on pre order with an expected delivery 1st week in december, that came and went i have been constantly being fobbed off, so im now going through clearpay for a refunded, oh i notice they are on holiday from the 22/12/2025 till the 5/1/26 so having looked at the latest reviews they are are ruining peoples christmas but will be enjoying theres with everyones money.

Avoid at all costs

I ordered a DAP from these guys a month ago on a pre order, with an estimated delivery of the end of November.

That date has been and gone, and they're not responding to emails from me requesting an order cancellation as per CCR regs.

What's more, their T&C's contain multiple conditions which aren't legal (restocking fees on statutory returns, for example).

Fortunately I ordered on credit card so I'll be able to do a chargeback, because I suspect these guys are simply con artists.

Order from Peter Tyson, or someone with a proven customer service track record. Expect to lose your money if you buy here.

EDIT - despite OTIC's reply below, I still have not received a refund and there is still no sign of my order. Comms are completely non existent.

My worst ever online experience!

After 30 years of online shopping, nothing could have prepared me for the nightmare of this company. Every e-mail is ignored, there are no updates on the Item, all it says is on its way on the shop app, it's been like that for a week now, I have asked to cancel by e-mail, but they go unanswered. I have never experienced anything so frustrating. Even if they offered me the item for 1/10th of its price, I would still choose sticking sharpened forks into my eyeballs. If this is how they treat new customers, imagine an issue with your purchase?

This is no way to run a business!

I will be cancelling through my card company in the coming week.

It's just not worth the hassle, stay well clear!

*update* Card company now involved. THIS DOES SEEM LIKE A SCAM (when you read the t&c's). Scottish Trading standards are now involved!
