Caring staff in a difficult environmemt. Would have no hesitation in using them again
Worst ever staff
Worst ever emergency service never trust these people they boot the door in to the dogs head dogs and boots the dog in the sides without giving me time to open the door to let them entre
his name was John that this to my dog and I hope karma gets him back this is below the lowest that you can get to hurt an animal and he should loose his job over this but this is what the country has come to bad mannered people and ful of rubbish workers
You only use this service if you want to be treated badly and end up dying as a result of people like these taking the time messing around in hospitals and work bases they don't know what a real life emergency is as they would treat the real life emergency first if they did their jobs properly what a disgrace to the nation
Nwas stands for
Never wants any service
Not north west ambulance service
People be dead waiting for these people that waste their time messing around instead of helping people when they need help utter shame on these waste of space people

Northwest Ambulance Service
Subject: Structured Feedback on My Experience with NWAS
I am providing honest feedback about my time with the Northwest Ambulance Service. While I valued the camaraderie and dedication of many road crew and PTS colleagues, my overall experience was negatively shaped by significant cultural and operational issues.
Key Concerns:
· Toxic Management Culture: I experienced and witnessed bullying, dishonesty, and a consistent lack of support from certain managers. There was a pervasive sense of being set up to fail (“stitched up”) rather than being developed or valued.
· Operational Negligence: In the PTS, safety policies—particularly regarding patient size and weight—were often ignored out of necessity, creating unsafe working conditions. This was exacerbated by pairing crews in ways that compromised the ability to perform essential duties, including CPR.
· Identity and Respect Issues: A concerning blurring of roles occurred, where some PTS staff misleadingly presented themselves as emergency paramedics, undermining the distinct expertise and hard work of the emergency paramedics teams.
· High Turnover & Poor Retention: The service struggles to retain good people. Competent and dedicated staff are driven out by the poor culture, leading to a constant cycle of recruitment and loss of institutional knowledge. Employees are treated as replaceable numbers.
Impact:
This environment made the already physically demanding job—compounded by rising challenges like patient obesity—emotionally unsustainable. It led to low morale, high stress, and ultimately, my departure.
Conclusion:
Until there is a fundamental overhaul of management culture, enforcement of safety protocols, and a genuine respect for staff welfare, I cannot recommend working at NWAS. The role inflicted more stress and disrespect than many other available jobs.
Debbie,Richard and Joe a credit to the Ambulance.service.
Yesterday I was attended to by Debbie,Richard and Joe. They were all friendly, professional and demonstrated all that is excellent about the Ambulance service. Thank you and remember their expertise and care very often saves lives.
Worst service
Worst service. Unkind staff. Asking 100 questions when I am dying, if I don’t answer their questions they won’t give me ambulance. Very rude staff. Idiots, you don’t ask 100 questions from a dying patient, losing consciousness, they said they sent ambulance after one hour, royal hospital in only 5 minutes from me, I couldn’t move at all, lyed on floor one hour alone in the house, finally I took taxi, what a disgrace, you only ask name, DOb, address and sent ambulance idiots. !! Don’t ask 1000 questions idiots staff, racist staff, rang yesterday around 12 pm . Another disgrace was staff rang me said they sent taxi, taxi arrived at my house after another hour, but my own taxi before that, These staff should be dismissed, wasting tax payers money and they deliberately not sent ambulance or taxi for 2 hours.
What a disgrace
I had a 11am specialist appointment at smrc Preston my patient transport did not arrive as it is 60min away i rang up and was blatantly lied to i was told that my transport was on its way it is now 1.45pm and still no transport i do suspect they had no intentions of coming as I am aware they have 4 fleet vehicles off the road from my local station alone and the vehicles that are on the road are falling to pieces in my last journey the seatbelt clasp came to pieces in a patients hand which is not safe but patient transport will not replace the vehicles as the contract is up for tender 2026 they are waiting to see if they get the contract (hopefully not) it would be better going to a more fitting company there's one thing nwas are good at its lying to patients they would get more respect if they were upfront and honest and kept patients informed (still no contact to say they wouldnt be coming)total shambles.

So thankful to these amazing people
Thank you so much to Dave, then Sophie and Jess who attended our emergency with our daughter. What exceptionally kind and skilful people they are. We will be forever grateful to them for their swift arrival and fantastic observations and treatment. Thank you also to Jo who allowed us to sit in her ambulance while we waited for triage in the hospital because the first guys’ shift had ended. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
What has to be brought to attention and…
What has to be brought to attention and something that will always play heavy on my mind. My Mum was dying with cancer, her organs were failing, on the floor for six hours waiting for an ambulance, soiled herself, I couldn’t get her up, she was so weak. Called 999 for an Ambulance, waiting six hours, crew were really good, admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, were she sadly passed away. Whats annoying, there is a young man, who lives on my street, with mental health problems, he works, which is good. However, an Ambulance crew is never away from his address. They are just plastering over the cracks, not dealing with the situation. This world, is upside down on how to deal with people. Its absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely amazing girls (paramedics ( put me at ease although I was in shock. Husband was dehydrated and sorted before going to hospital. Thank you girls. Im sorry as was in shock I cannot remember your names. Xx
I booked transport
I booked transport - an ambulance for a person in a wheelchair, I gave information that the wheelchair is a bit longer but we used the ambulance and it was ok. Today they sent a taxi for wheelchairs, but my son's wheelchair was not compatible with the taxi, so the visit was cancelled. The people working there do not listen at all to what is being said to them, I explained that there must be an ambulance, but they know better. This is not the first time that an appointment has to be cancelled because the driver refuses to take a patient in a wheelchair.
This is for the evil wan who answered…
This is for the evil woman who answered 999 (not the Ambulance workers who i got 5 hours later via another method). Was writhing in agony for 3 hours vomiting and felt like my body was being crushed alive. The pain was horrendous I was unable to get away. Couldnt stand amd crawled to my cats bed. Had took take triple amount of painkillers I luckily have at home after the lady on the 999 call denied to send me out a Ambulance & wanted me to wait for another call from someone else when at this point I coukd no longer speak or breath from pancreatic pain. Pure Evil. This is why I never go to hospitals even when I've had Sepsis or kidney infections because they're evil. Jist think our N.I paid these monsters upfront!!! Their high salaries N.I is 20x more out my wages than private health insurance. Never should've been allowed. We'd see alot better attitude if these people were paid AFTER Services rendered like everyone else. That dispatcher needs sacking!!! For refusing to send a Ambulance for emergency treatment needed
Simply The Best
Ste and Callum the paramedic and technician who are based at Chorley ambulance station came to me at 3.00am on Easter bank holiday Monday
They were totally professional but at the same time put me at ease as it was obvious they knew what they were doing
Gave me pain relief before we set off on our journey to the Royal Bolton Hospital A&E department (they even locked the house for me and made sure my keys were in my pocket so I was safe in the knowledge that everything was secure whilst I was away from home)
Very easy to talk to and had a good chat all the way to the hospital which made me feel even more at ease
Great guys first class
Thank you so much

Honour and Ben were crewed up today was today was fantastic together looking after me the patient and my partner. Knew how to have a laugh and be serous. making sure the vehicles was equipped and stocked at it was a hospital transfer
Rang for an ambulance twice for my mum…
Rang for an ambulance twice for my mum who had confusion, congestive heart failure, was standing in bare feet in the rain but couldn't feel them , they where swollen, toe nails hanging off , eyes sunken into head , unwashed . Lesions sores on legs . Had a phone call from a chap from this service , 23. 1 . 25 at 15.15 who cancelled the ambulance because when he spoke to mum she was making sense .
We took her to Kendal urgent treatment centre ourselves ...then she was taken by ambulance to Lancaster, then to Preston royal.
Where she was treated for sepsis , she then had her leg amputated and an angioplasty in her remaining leg .
She's still in hospital 4 weeks later.
The call handler I spoke to that cancelled the ambulance I found to be dismissive in his attitude towards me , resulting in frustration for me that waited for 2 and half hours in the rain for help that wasn't coming for my mum that was clearly ill . Disgusting shameful attitude by the call handler . All NHS staff have been fantastic treating mum , apart from the call handler that looked for any excuse to not send the ambulance that she ended up in anyway ?!!!!

A calming influence at the other end of the line when I called 999. Advised ambulance would take 45-60 minutes, it was there within 20. Thank you
More specifically paramedics Hannah & her partner were kind, patient, showed genuine concern. All symptoms were assessed thoroughly. My GP surgery had twice turned me away with no appointment in 5 days despite my infection. Massive thank you.
NHS Incompetence adding to patient misery.
At risk of echoing previous reviews, and again this is no criticism of the ambulance crews. The system is absolutely broken, with call centres staffed by incompetent people. Staff would prefer to quote GDPR as a reason for not assisting in locating a missing 89yr old patient, taken by ambulance from a care home and then lost in the NHS system, with all local hospitals denying receiving him. He was eventually located in the OPRAH unit at Blackburn Hospital, despite Blackburn A&E insisting on three occasions that he had not been taken to Blackburn. This isn`t a funding issue, this is incompetence.
Lee and charlie came today due to me…
Lee and charlie came today due to me suffering with my asthma. They were amazing paramedics, talked through everything with us and made sure that i was okay before departing. Such amazing paramedics and i hope we see more like them. Thankyou lee and charlie
Very kind paramedics
Very kind paramedics Dan and his colleague whose surname was Walker came to my aid at my Doctors Surgery as I had collapsed in the lift with pneumonia.
They really looked after me and genuinely cared about me. They were very knowledgable and made sure I was safe and comfortable and gave me a nebuliser and monitored my breathing and obs.
I couldn’t have asked for better help and kindness and I’m so very grateful to them both. They make a great team.
Loved the glasses!
