RUDENESS IS UNKIND
Well, I have called in three different times and unfortunately, I have spoken twice with THIS incredibly RUDE, lady name, NICOLE. I overlooked her unkindly tone and phone behavior from the first time I have phoned in to get my application started. Earlier this morning when I had called them , Kelly answered and said that they have not received any prescriptions from my doctor yet and provided me with the same fax number that NICOLE had texted me the first time.
So after I have confirmed with my doctor completed successfully faxed the prescription in, I have decided to give them another call to confirm.
This time, I got NICOLE once again. I explained my call and she put me hold by saying, let me check. She promptly returned and started telling me that my doctor did not provide them with any medical diagnosis for the last 6 months visit. I tried to explain to her that my visit with my doctor has nothing to do with my being in a wheelchair bound due to my diagnosis of having polio since age 3.
NICOLE started to tell me that my must give the therapist my medical history in order for them to get my demographic going. I told her that I have a 30 years long list of my medical history that I don’t think her company needs to know about and that I will not have my doctor to provide them…she quickly interrupted while I was talking so I cut in and requested to please mind her tone with me because I don’t appreciate her yelling at me over the phone.
NICOLE, quickly stated that she wasn’t yelling and that it was her regular voice and then she said you know what forget this I don’t need this. I’m hanging up and she hung up on me.
I wrote back to my doctor and told her of my experiences with National Seating and Mobility. Apparently they are making great money and they do not need any new clienteles. I hope the president of the company has been viewing or reviewing all of the Customer Services reviews. And if they did and they continue to allow such rudeness, customer service to represent their long time, running company? I refuse to have any business with this company.
My experience with Jeff Decker NSM…
My experience with Jeff Decker NSM renewed my faith in the company! His experience was critical in evaluating my particular needs! I really feel he knows what he’s doing! The fit and function of a power chair makes all the difference for posture, comfort safety and function. I have a renewed confidence to go about my life! I’m a C56 quad for 44 years! Bart
WORST COMPANY EVER
I really wish I did not have to post this, but I am beyond exasperated. I will confirm that my experience is exactly what others' have written. No one answer the phone, or returns messages! FOR WEEKS! I have even called the headquarters in Tennessee, with exactly the same results. NOTHING! The employees in Fort Myers Florida seem very nice (if/when you can actually be in touch with them). I had been bed ridden for 3 months (from a pressure sore), while waiting for a custom made wheelchair cushion. I inquired about it weekly. I finally called the manufacturer RIDE DESIGNS in Colorado, and learned it had been shipped, received, and signed for in Fort Myers Florida, 4 weeks earlier! I asked about it every week (while laying in bed 24/7) and when I finally received it, it was wrong, and they picked it up the next day (3+ weeks ago).and in spite of my daily phone calls (unanswered) and messages left, I have yet to even learn of my wheelchair cushion! Without a doubt, the WORST company I have ever dealt with - and they get paid by insurance (in my case) so I cannot go to another vendor for a product, as my insurance has already paid for a product I have yet to receive!

My son has had cerebral palsy since birth in a wheelchair since 3yo, 20 years later and getting fitted for his 4th chair. We've only used NSM bc of their customer service and quality staff. Allison, Ed, and Lenny are some of the best people I've encountered during this bumpy path of parenthood. They've stayed true to every statement they've made. They jumped through every hoop they needed to to get parts from dealers when insurance was bawking about, and treated us with kindness and utmost respect. Thank you for giving my son mobility when his own body wouldn't do it for him.
Zero customer service
I got a $35,000 power chair from National Seating & Mobility for a family member who is profoundly disabled. All the promises up front had me very relieved and excited that he would regain some mobility and independence again. I quickly learned that this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They never...and I mean NEVER...answer the phone! The only one who did was the sales rep and he stopped answering after the chair was delivered. Forget about repairs or upkeep to the chair, because they will NOT BE DONE. I can't get them to answer the phone, a text or an email. After literally months of trying I finally got them to respond and fix the chair. It came back worse than when it went in. Now his chair is virtually unusable and they aren't answering the phone. When I physically went into the office I found only one person on site and he said I had to call them and set up a repair. What on earth does he think I've been doing for the last month? He refused to do a thing. And still no one is calling me back, answering the phone or replying to texts or emails. I highly suggest people go anywhere else to get their power chairs, because this national company acts like a two-bit flea circus.
Edited to add that this is for the Austin, TX location. However, the national company is just as bad. When I was unable to get the Austin location to respond I contacted corporate and related the problems. Nothing was done. I got a "very sorry", "shouldn't happen", but they have done nothing to resolve the problem. So we are left with a $35,000 paper weight!
Edited 2/16/24 to update: I finally got them to respond! I contacted the manufacturer of my brother's power wheelchair, which is Quantum. I simply Googled their number and asked for customer service and it worked. I was put through to a woman in customer service who was very angry that this is what National Seating & Mobility put people through. She assured me that I would get a response from them and 45 minutes later I did. She called me back the next day to make sure they had called me. Hopefully, this means we will get the chair fixed. The Quantum customer service lady assured me it was under warranty and would be no charge. We'll see what National S&M (ironic name, huh?) does.
They NEVER return phone calls and rarely answer the phone
It has been one year since placing a work order for my 97 (now 98!) year old mother for a power wheelchair. It shouldn't take this long. I started calling to try to find out about it. They rarely answer their phone. When I finally get through, they have to take a message. I have left messages with the main number, the manager's number and even the corporate office. After months and months and months no one EVER returns my call. It's really unbelievable. NSM is the only DME company in her area that is in her health insurance network so we have to use them. Shockingly bad way to run a company.
Avoid like the plague
I know there is a slim chance anyone @SheperdCenter will read this, but please please please avoid using National at all costs.
My story:
Insurance approved everything for me in a timely maner, National sat on the request for 8 months before deliverying the chair to my new National Seating branch. National Atlanta never provided information for who the chair belonged to. Finally I tracked it down, but it was into the next calendar year and National wanted another $6,000.00 for the chair and smart drive. I could not pay this, so I never got my chair. I paid my deductable the year before, insurance took this, they paid National for the chair and drive. National keeps the money and the chair+drive.
I spoke many times with their manager Lauren Murray with no resolution. They change managers several times during my case and just closed my case file each time without contacting me. So I'd have to start from scratch explaining everything to a new person. Likely she doesn't work there anymore either. Terrible humans that are just after profit with no regard for their clients. Terrible company.

What a horror to deal with! If I could give negative stars I would. We have been there (Roanoke, VA) for repairs. They hosed that up completely! Stripped screws to the footrest and just left it. The rest gave way suddenly because of it. They cannot seem to figure out why the chair is totally off balance and just sort of give a "huh, that's interesting" response. We spoke with the sales rep we had worked with last time and he gave us his card and said call when you are closer to time to get a new chair. We did. Rob didn't call us back. Just seems to ignore our calls. We called the office. Were told we will have him call you. Nothing. Called AGAIN. Now we get that we have to have an order before anyone will even speak with us. Considering a power chair but have serious concerns about whether it will fit in our home and need to speak with someone PRIOR to having the doctor specify a power chair. I called the main number and got the run around there too. Simply wanted to know what happens if a power chair is ordered and there isn't one that will work. No one will answer that simple question. Don't want to get stuck with an order that locks us into a power chair if it won't work for our situation. There is no customer care. No true consideration for the patient's needs and concerns. All I want to know are answers to some basic and general fit questions. Not asking them to start a new order nor advise on what would be qualified for. Simply, will this be able to fit in our house? Will this be able to turn around in the bathroom? Will someone who cannot keep their legs bent fit on what is available? Ridiculous that I get jerked around with this.

I been trying to get a wheelchair since beginning of the yr it usually only takes 2-3 months to get a wheelchair custom made but it’s now October 9 2023 still don’t have a wheelchair can’t get ahold of anyone at the office cause no one picks up the phone you can leave a message but nobody ever calls back. Now I’m concerned that when I have a problem with the chair and I need work done it’s gonna be the same run around. Do your self a favor do not go with NSM they care nothing about you if they did they wouldn’t take ppls money and give them the run around
Messages Not Returned
Messages to the San Antonio location go unanswered. Have left over half a dozen calls and never heard back. Promise messages left before 4 PM will be returned is not true! Good customer service is not found at this company.
