My name is Oscar
My name is Oscar, and I'm from Canada. A few years ago, I moved to the United States to Study at William Carey University. Living in a different Country was much harder than I expected. I had to adjust to a new place, manage my expenses, work around my class schedule, and deal with homesickness. There were times when I felt completely alone because my family was thousands of miles away. Those experiences made me realise that my international students go through the same struggles but don't always talk about them. I decided to write a book about my journey, not because I thought my story was special, but because I wanted other students who are planning to study abroad to know what life is really like. I wrote about challenges of setting into a new country, making friends, managing money, balancing studies with everyday life, and staying motivated when things became difficult. Once the manuscript finished, I worked with Nextzen Book Publisher to get it published. Since it was my first book, I wasn't familiar with the publishing process and had a lot of questions. We discussed the manuscript, made a few changes before the final version, and then moved ahead with publishing. It was a good feeling to finally hold the finished book, knowing that it might help another student who is about to start the same journey I once did.
