Worst university experience as an adult ever. Staff are weird and unapproachable. Horrible atmosphere.

Caroline Jackson from early years department is hypocritical and plays favorites. do not attend here for early years she is an awful teacher. every other teacher is amazing except her. she does not take concerns seriously

If you do not have a visa or you do not receive any benefits, forget about any education or courses. Staff are very racist and discrimination the people ,without these documents,because they are not valuable for them , they are not welcome ,also make the enrolment process difficult,and disinformation, is doesn't matter you have a qualification to start next level , finally always they find the reason you can not enrol to the college and start course.

My son was doing the Automotive course. As he was about to complete his second year, he was told the college were not running the third year. This was dropped on the students with no warning. The second year was very disrupted with staff leaving. So all the kids have been left to try and find apprenticeships or enrol at another college to complete the third year.
Dreadful.

my partner does the applied science course has been severly mistreat and discrimated against by all of the teachers on this course specifically the head of course who nearly refused to let her do the course due to her being away from her abusive parents and having to live with me additionally they have an inexperienced teacher leading one of the hardest modules. she has a learning plan in place due to her autism and not one thing on there is being follow. i personally have been called an abuser by the head of course for protecting my partner. overall a terrible college and teaching staff

0 star - my child is doing brick laying , yet was taken out of college on a field trip.. turns out they had him litter picking in newcastle city centre? That is like a punishment and how does that have a thing to do with brick laying.. NEWCASTLE COLLEGE I WANT A RESPONSE

I used to be a SENCo and my son with an EHCP is attending a course within the music department. His tutor Chris has been really helpful and my son genuinely feels quite happy and can attest to the fact that his needs are catered for well.

teachers made several comments to me and a classmate about how happy she was we weren't the type of gays that rub it in peoples faces.

Teachers weren't skilled in anything other than white hair and there was only one doll head that represented African hair that I saw once and then never again.

the teacher also made several comments to people with disabilities saying they won't get jobs as the employer will see them as a liability.

I had a meeting about this and head of department just said why didnt I say sooner and did absolutely nothing about what id said.

also for L3 we paid £3,500 for the course and they ran out of funding so most of us never got kits so none of us know how to cut hair as we didnt get doll heads.

We also had planned to go to the wella academy but this was cancelled days before - I wouldn't speculate on where any of the funding goes for the students but it certainly was not on my class.

aside from that we had no training on sterilisation I still could not tell you how to use barbacide.

if you arent able bodied straight or white don't come here.

I recently attended a semi permanent and media make up course at Newcastle College’s Higher Education University Centre and I have to say my treatment was appalling. I am a disabled student having a hidden disability which the support team at Central Support Services were awful in regard to. The attitude of some of the staff was also shocking towards myself and other students. I would most certainly not recommend Newcastle College as a college that has the first clue about disability or in fact how to treat a disabled person. I am currently working on my formal complaint which is already at 6,000 words and I am not even finished. I am also seeking legal advice as I was not treated like a valued disabled person, I was treated like dirt.
I have been a student on and off at Newcastle College for thirty years and I have never and I mean never been treated like this due to being disabled by an eduction provider in my life. The Equality Act of 2010 clearly means nothing to NCG. However in law this is a different matter as they will soon be finding out. I was pleased to leave but sad to leave new friends that I had just made which was a real shame as the other students on the course were all loverly.

I studied Performing Arts for 2 years. Vicky Burn, Maria, Elouise and the head teacher are bigots. They decided me and 2 others who had dyslexia could not get into the level 3 course.

They said we needed to improve my maths and English. They didn’t tell us till th last 2 months of the course. I said to Vicky I should have got on. She said I wasn’t good enough.I replied she was too overweight to be dance teacher. My source had informed she only got the job because the previous teacher put in a good word for her.

I think it’s unprofessional for a teacher to say that. I arranged for a meeting with the head. She didn’t show up I waited for 2 hours.

I confronted her about “ she said I’m busy okay!”. I replied you could at least say sorry. They take care of their own. A worker from Barnordos said there just after numbers. Check the review Kelly,Annoymous,Michelle.

Honestly awful, PLEASE READ:
waste of 5 years of my life and money.
I didn’t learn anything, they don’t help guide you into what course to go into for what you want to learn for your future. And the final year they basically wave you out the door and leave you at that. They don’t help you gain any contacts or help you get a job. With me being in a fashion course they promised us a 3 year fashion course, then our main tutor left and the final year was useless. We didn’t even have a fashion tutor we had an architect tutor which again we were not made aware of this so we basically paid £9,000 for a tutor who never had a clue what to say to help us. Complete waste of time I left 3 months ago and I’ve never felt more lost in my life I’ve basically gotten myself back on my feet. Also LYNNE the main sewing workshop tutor is honestly horrendous, she talks to people like s*** constantly has bad things to say about people. Makes each day miserable and has BODY SHAMED me multiple times asking if I have lost weight from when I was ill, asking me to turn around looking at me up and down infront of a whole class making me feel awfully uncomfortable. Considering I’ve never thought about my weight until she mentioned it. Truly the role model we all need. Not mentioning all the other horrible things she done like tearing outwards on my hand made skirt and tearing the stitching I spent 12 days making whilst saying see it’s not held together properly. And countless other things. And the art tutor Billy who was also awful to me during my time there. Who cheated on his wife with another tutor in this college. Just all a big mess. The only good thing I would take from this time would be a few friends I’ve made and that’s about it. Thanks

Christine Andrews taught in lifelong learning sector. She was flashing her b.... to students. Disgusting behaviour. They moved her from one department to another.

In summary, my son/daughter left after high achievement and attendance before the end of the year.
No understanding or support of mental health despite detailed information provided. This young person had been on a special education plan at school.
Important procedural/administrative errors.
S/he used as an example of a culture within the university following the outcome.
Discouraged from making a complaint.
The information I received was to cover the institution’s back.
Outcome didn’t take my son/daughter’s needs into consideration.
Son/daughter has learnt from the situation.
One Senior educator was more understanding and positive.
Suggestions given how to prevent another situation like this.

complete lack of help with bursary funding, they take any opportunity they get to give cheap options, even to the point where despite bursary being advertised as "free" travel, they give you an option which makes travel cheaper, then they transfer you ¾ of the total amount of money necessary for the 2 week period. this isn't even to mention the horrible pressure they put on students due to the higher-ups pushing all of their own work onto lecturers

I absolutely would recommend this college! I loved it here, the staff are so lovely even the ones i didn't have as a lecturer. they are also approachable/accessible when needed. Thanks to the help and support i recieved i am in uni and definitely going back to do my teaching degree once im finished.

I started college in September in hairdressing level 2 , thought it was good to start with then things went wrong. There is lots of young girls in class room and not many adults I found that the tutor had favoritism for the young girls and the adults were not learning anything, I did not like the way the tutor, treated me as a child, tutor pulled the hairdryer out of my hand and said, do it like this . I have a disability but didn't tell the college as I wanted to see how I could do on my own, but one day I was standing for so long my back seized up, I was in that much pain, was not allowed to sit down, as we have been told no-one can sit down in this class, one of the tutors took me to staff room, as I said I would like to go home so tutor said I have to talk to someone so I did in pain still they said what do I want to do I told them I would like to go home, they said is this course going to be ok for you I said if I could have a chair it be okay, they said we can't do that , they made me pressurised I had to say no the course will not work for me , but still in pain. I felt like they wanted me to leave all I wanted was to go home and take my medication. This college is not a good college for someone with a disability they discriminated towards me.

This is a disgraceful education provider. They remove children with the lowest scores after four weeks. Is it not the job of a college to guide and help those who are struggling. I cannot believe the treatment children recieve from Newcastle college.

Spoke with a course manager from the electrical department who was completely inaudible and asked why our phone calls have not been returned..excuse after excuse who simply couldn’t answer questions and decided to put the phone down. I spoke with his line manager who said complain as much as you want it won’t go anywhere…well Samantha I will, I’m starting here with your disgraceful service and I will carry on until I get some answers..try employing staff that can cope with the job and can be understood. My advice is simple to anyone reading this, pick another college, the tutors either leave mid term or leave the students alone to self educate!
