Neil was an amazing admissions counselor who guided me toward my acceptance into Harvard. Neil holds a wealth of knowledge about the admissions process and is always a friendly and helpful presence. He tailors his services to each individual student and I felt much more confident having him on my team during the process. You can't go wrong with Avalon Admissions.

Neil Chyten is a college admissions expert with 40 years of experience. The bottom line is---he improves the odds of admission to elite US colleges. Our son, after working with Neil for almost two years, gained admission to almost 40% of the schools he applied to. He's now enrolled at a top Ivy university. Without Neil's counsel, we're convinced that this would not have happened!

For children, a good college education experience is one of most important fortune which can define their lives trajectories. However, how to get the acceptances by those top universities and colleges is very challenging and skillful as well. Especially in the US, the top schools do not use students’ academic scores as the only assessment for their enrollment. Beside the children’s outstanding academic achievement, you need to understand not only the historical culture of these schools, but the evolutionary developments for recent years.

We are very lucky to get Neil’s extremely professional guidance. Under his directive guidance, my son received the admission notices from two Ivy League schools, and several other top schools, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, etc. Most importantly he was offered with the highly competitive computer science major.

Neil takes his work very seriously but patiently enough. His working style is well-organized and efficient. He always reminded my son and provided sufficient guidance at every critical point. I believe every child can benefit from his guidance, not only some good school offers, but a learning experience on how to accomplish important jobs.

We are currently sending our second
child to Neil’s College Prep Service after an amazing experience with our daughter several years ago. Our daughter got prep help in Math and English and got into Boston College where she has maintained an A- average over 3 1/2 years. Now our son Thomas (who is a math whiz already but
needs help with his writing) is getting extra help for his AP English and SAT Verbal Test. Neil has found him an amazing instructor and he and Thomas
are making great progress.

The summer before my sophomore year, I began meeting with Neil Chyten and he has been so integral to the changes I've made in my academic/extracurricular life. He opened my eyes to many opportunities and I was able to use his suggestions to build a better resume in just a few months. He gives me a bigger perspective on the college scene and lets me see how I'm doing compared to other candidates. I've also become more aware of the future careers I could have and which one would be best for me. In our bimonthly meetings, he is very personable and easy to talk to which makes him a great idea soundboard. In busy, stressful times, he is very flexible and understanding. I am happy with how much he has helped me grow not only academically but personally.

Earlier this summer (August 2020) Neil was recommended to be a college counselor to my daughter (who is a sophomore in high school here in Oklahoma) by my sister-in-law who is in Massachusetts. We are very happy with his guidance and advice in the very stressful college admissions process. He is very friendly and easy to talk to and gives us lots of timely and helpful tips in application planning, standardized testing and even helps us with application essay writing. Not only is he a great college counselor, he has also been a great life coach for our daughter. When things get too stressful for my daughter, he knows how to be flexible and willing to change to meet her where she is in terms of scheduling counseling sessions or answering questions. We are very grateful to have Neil’s help in the stressful college application process!
