Don’t believe the BS…

We used Transparent International for our move from LA, California to Melbourne, Australia.

As far as I can tell the only person who was good at their job was Steve in sales who promised the Earth but couldn’t deliver. Delivery being the one thing we needed. Transparent and their shipping partner lost 3 items and broke two items. I’m a fool for not getting insurance this time.

Transparent came back for additional payment 2x. Once because the volume assessment was low and once to cover quarantine inspection and port fees. Charges that would always be required. I shouldn’t be surprised, in my experience this is just how America does business.

We’ve moved internationally 4 times, Including once to Australia. We’ve never had a shipping company come back and ask for more money.

Don’t believe the BS. Transparent International aren’t what their sales team make them out to be.

Thanks to Frank he was very helpful and informative with any questions I had. The whole process was straight forward and the rate I secured was just within My budget, they packed up all my canvases and art pieces professionally for me they arrived in the same Perfect condition.

Buyer Beware

Cliff notes version: They did not honor their salesman's representation on price. They nearly doubled the price with additional invoices after they had picked-up and had custody of my belongings. They did honor their representation of the delivery time. It sat in a warehouse in Texas for weeks when I thought it was on the way to Mexico. If I couldn't pay the additional invoices they kept throwing at me, they threatened to discard my belongings... A baby grand piano and family heirlooms that could not be replaced in Mexico. They threatened to charge me for storage while they held my belongings in the Texas warehouse, when I thought all along my belongings were in a truck crossing Mexico. Once in Mexico, it was on a truck and here in a week. I can only imagine why it sat in the Texas warehouse for weeks and weeks without my knowledge of delays. They threatened to sue me if I wrote negative reviews online.

Had a great experience with smooth…

Had a great experience with smooth transition from the US to the Puerto Rico. Customer Service was outstanding and moving was on time from pickup destination to delivery point. Very professional from the front desk to the shipping team to management. Hands down Great Service!!!!

Have moved 5 times, this was the worst experience

This was, unfortunately, a very bad overall experience. I did a move from California to Asia and booked the move in April 2021, and the items just arrived in early November (after having been promised in mid-July). The team at Transparent does not communicate at all-- and the place feels very disorganized. This started with me sending photos of all items I wanted moved, getting a quote, and having my things picked up. Immediately after I was sent another bill-- I've seen this before so I just paid it (though having photos should have enabled them to do a good estimate). Then the fun began. 3-4 weeks later I get an email telling me to provide an IRS EIN number for the move (these are normally for self-employed people). I thought my good were on a ship at that point-- nope, just sitting in a container somewhere. I was not able to obtain an EIN number online and called the IRS-- the person there said there is no reason to have an EIN number for moving personal goods. Transparent was not only unpersuaded, but could also not explain to me why all my previous moves did not require this. Finally we sorted it out by putting another name on the move manifest, but Transparent did not help at all. Then the real fun began. In July, I got in touch, having hear nothing for 2 months, to ask about my shipment. I get a response that it will arrive in August (no apology, no nothing). Fast forward, and the shipment (after multiple broken promises by Transparent) arrived in late October (when we were hit with yet a new $200 bill for arrival fees/taxes), by which point we had nobody in the house (both of us out of the country) and had to cobble together another solution. Again, no apologies and no flexibility. The move was finally completed (a number of items were damaged, but I'm too worn out to even debate or engage with these people ever again). I do not know if I had an unusually bad experience, but this was one for the record books.

*****My life would have been simpler and healthier selling everything I owned instead of working with Transparent!*****

Bottom Line Up Front:

Expect over 50% cost increases
Expect not to be informed of delays
Expect to be dodged by customer service and management
Expect to pay ~$33K to make your home livable while you wait
Expect not to be able to plan vacation because you are using PTO for medical treatments because you’re sleeping on an air mattress and aggravating a VA rated combat disability.
Expect to be disappointed

I contacted Transparent to conduct an OCONUS to CONUS move for me on behalf of my former employer and the Government in May 2021.

The sales staff was aggressive , and I advocated for the company with my former employer, although the company was the highest bidder. I mistook the aggressiveness of the sales team for hands on customer service (boy was I wrong).

I was originally told that my shipment was delayed due to container unavailability; however, my shipment was packed in its own container. No two answers are the same, and none feel honest.

Communications with the imports team are atrocious. I firmly believe my calls are being dodged (on. October 15th, I was on hold for an hour and a half when calling from the phone number on file. While on hold I called from a friend’s phone and was connected with someone immediately. After that I was disconnected, called back from the friend’s number and was placed directly on long term hold, so I spoofed a phone number and like magic was connected.) I am not called back for updates at agreed upon times, and e-mails are not returned in a timely manner.

Emails go unanswered, and my former employer’s logistics team gets conflicting information about delivery, management availability, and *NEW* outstanding invoices, while I am told that there is nothing the company can do. I have not been able to speak to a manager about the issues, being told they only take select customer phone calls, and then told the ENTIRE management chain went to a conference.

I have an upcoming legal necessity for my furniture, as well as a combat related disability that has been aggrieved by sleeping on an air mattress since May.

Transparent International is costing me paid time off spent for additional medical treatments, I have had to purchase a new vehicle, new couches, TV, Dining Table, pots and pans, kitchen appliances, work desk, television, and professional clothing and medical aids due to the company’s inability to provide logistical support to the move.

I am now replacing bedroom furniture because Transparent International will not deliver the goods, give an estimated date, or allow me to self recover my items (which are allegedly in a warehouse 30 minutes from my home. Although the status of my household goods have been “reported “ I have no information on my vehicle.

I have moved internationally five other times, and have NEVER been treated so badly or handled so poorly by a company.

I would love to actually speak to someone in management, but would be happy to receive my goods and part ways with this company.

Unfortunately I fell for a good sales…

Unfortunately I fell for a good sales patter and have regretted it ever since.

Our promised delivery from CA to UK of just a few weeks, turned in to over 6 months. I appreciate that there were issues due to COVID, however, the lack of communication and updates from this company was stressful and frustrating.

It took me chasing time after time to get updates. I was given dates that changed numerous times, but I only found out when I would chase.

There was literally zero customer service after they had taken my money and to date I am still being fobbed off by them.

I was promised compensation once the delivery arrived. Now they won't even discuss it until I have put my insurance claim in for damaged items. I can't do this as the insurance company don't bother to respond to my emails.

I didn't want to have to leave this review, but despite trying to resolve these issues many times with them directly, I have still not received a satisfactory reply.

In summary - great salesmen, terrible customer service, would definitely not recommend if you want a stress free move

Move was good but took much longer

We picked Transparent int. because of the good reviews.
We got a few other quotes and they were cost wise right in the middle.
Communication for pick up and scheduling was fast and easy ( via E-Mails and telephone).
Movers came on time and they were very friendly.
The Whole time communications of where and what happened to our stuff was good.
The only Probleme we had was that the delivery time took much longer then schedule. We supposed to get it mid August but it took until Dezember. Corona was at fault however so it wasn’t a big deal for us.
Communication with the moving company her in Europe was also great. Communication was on spot. The lady I dealt with kept me updated about every step.
Delivery guys were amazing and very fast.

Far from good

Communication after payment received was not very proactive; packing of furniture was really poor and an expensive glass display cabinet was smashed during the process - barely a word of apology. On arrival, broken furniture and TV. Really awful experience.
