I like that Moontel isn’t forcing you into just one model. You can earn data through surveys, but there’s also the option to buy data when you just want connectivity immediately. I had a couple of survey screen-outs, so I wouldn’t call the experience perfect yet, but for a beta the product already feels quite interesting. 4 stars for now, with room to become 5.
The concept is really cool, especially if you travel often and don’t want to pay for mobile data every time. My main issue was that a few surveys screened me out because I didn’t fit the target profile. It can be frustrating, but I understand that this is how market research works. Considering the app is still in beta, I think 4 stars is fair.
I tested Moontel both in Europe and in the US and the eSIM worked well in both places. What I like most is that you don’t have to keep installing a new eSIM every time you travel. It’s still a beta product, so I’m sure there are things they’ll improve, but the core idea already works and that’s why I’m giving it 5 stars.
At first I was a bit skeptical about the idea of getting mobile data by answering surveys. I completed a few, built up enough progress and actually unlocked the eSIM. That was the moment I realized the concept genuinely works. It’s still early and the experience isn’t perfect yet, but as a beta I think it’s very promising.
