Mr Mileto left me with lifelong consequences
I am leaving this review about Mr Domenico Mileto in his capacity as a surgeon, based on my direct experience of care.
I have been so devastated that only now 2 years on, I am able to speak publicly about my experience to warn others.
I underwent breast reduction surgery with Mr Mileto in March 2024 (arranged via MYA). I did not go into this lightly. I was extremely prepared: I attended multiple consultations, brought written notes and questions, did extensive personal research, involved a family member, and repeatedly raised specific concerns in advance.
My main concern was very clear and very consistent: I did not want to be left too small for my frame. I am nearly 6ft tall and explicitly said I did not want a B/C cup. I asked for a proportionate outcome and trusted professional judgement.
Despite this preparation and communication, the outcome was significantly smaller than discussed and disproportionate for my body.
Removal of 500-700g per breast was discussed and agreed and contemporaneous notes were recorded in front of witnesses during the second pre surgery consultation but instead, on the day of surgery Mr Mileto removed 1280g from my left breast and 910g from the right breast.
I was also left with clear asymmetry that was visible early on — one breast sits lower than the other, nipple positions are uneven, and scar placement differs side to side.
More importantly, two years on I am still living with significant neuropathic pain, consistent with nerve injury/entrapment from the surgery.
This is chronic pain that affects my daily life and has had a lasting impact on my wellbeing.
When I raised concerns early and repeatedly after surgery, my experience was that they were minimised or delayed, with reassurance to wait rather than meaningful engagement with what I was experiencing.
That response compounded the harm.
I did everything a patient is told to do: prepared thoroughly, communicated clearly, documented my concerns, and trusted professional expertise.
Consent does not negate the responsibility to listen carefully to a patient’s stated priorities or the reality of long-term physical harm when outcomes go wrong.
I am sharing my experience so prospective patients understand not just credentials or consultation style, but how care and outcomes felt to me in reality.
I would NOT recommend Mr Mileto as a Surgeon.
EDITED TO ADD: I raised my concerns immediately through MYA’s formal internal complaints procedure, which they have on record, including escalation through their published stages. That process concluded with my concerns being denied, dismissed, and responsibility not accepted. This review is written after that process concluded and reflects my devastatingly traumatic experience and its long-term consequences, including ongoing physical pain and serious psychological impact.
