Discount Trap

They are a scam on pricing. I bought a 40 Piece Dinnerware Set for a good discount and after a few days they cancelled my order without reason and now they want me to pay a full price.

Mikasa bone china

Mikasa bone china: we purchased 2 full 40-piece sets of plates, bowls, and mugs, from Hudson's Bay in Canada. Very soon I noticed a strange blotchy breakdown of the shiny surface on the some of the plates. I thoroughly rinse all my dishes before putting them into the dishwasher. The Mikasa website said egg and vinegar can cause staining but I wasn't serving enough eggs to cause this wide-spread problem. I started snatching dishes at the table from my family as soon as they took their last bite and whisking the dishes to the sink to quickly rinse thoroughly and get them into the dishwasher. My efforts were wasted. After a year I gave up - the weird pale almost like a faint oil-slick mixed with dull mottled patches was visible everywhere. And now they aren't just losing the finish, they are taking on stains - odd brown and tan streaks are showing up on the plates. I did phone Mikasa at one point and they claimed they had never heard of this problem (?!) and just said to clean with baking soda - did nothing. Months later I was at Hudson's Bay (before they completely shut down) and was lucky enough to talk to one of those older women in the china section who actually knew something about dishes. I told her my story and this is literally what she said, "Oh yes, we had that problem with those dishes (Kyler and another one) and stopped carrying them". I guess that's why we got such an amazing discount when we purchased ($255 marked down from $800 for each set) but certainly no one shared what we would be dealing with. Lack of quality is one thing but the completely uninterested response from Mikasa is really depressing. They clearly have no interest in maintaining a standard of quality so you're on your own. It's the end of an era.

Severe manufacturing defects, broken items, and awful support

I purchased the Dini Floral 32-Piece Set on July 3rd and had to fight customer service for a refund due to severe damage. I ordered a second set on July 14th, expecting it to be in better condition. Between a busy schedule and having my young nieces visiting, I waited until July 31st to fully open and inspect the second delivery so no one would get hurt on broken glass.

Out of 64 total pieces received across both orders:
- Intact / Usable: 16 bowls, 10 cups, 4 large dinner plates, and 7 salad plates.
- Broken / Defective: 27 pieces (over 40% of the entire order) were completely unusable.

Specific Issues Encountered:
- Glaze & Finish: Debris and specks literally baked/glazed into the finish, color tones that don't match the listing images, and decal patterns so poorly applied they look like cheap stickers.
- Shape & Construction: Cups arrived warped and oval-shaped instead of round, with cracks running down the handles and bodies.
- Transit Damage: Numerous plates arrived snapped, chipped, or shattered due to flimsy packaging.

It took endless back-and-forth and supervisor escalations just to get a refund for the first order. Dealing with them was so frustrating that I'd rather take the loss on the second order than go through their support nightmare again. Save yourself the stress and buy your dinnerware elsewhere.

Mikasa Aspen Bone China - garbage

I received Mikasa Aspen set of 12 dinner, side and bowls as a gift. Having multiple issues with the products. The logo has faded off some of the plates. The glaze seems to be wearing off and stains are happening on these dishes. It has taken about 6 months but majority of plates are having this issue. They use a lifetime product marketing call out which is in fact 30 days if purchased from a retailer??? Customer service appears to be AI responses which no person attached. SO DISAPPOINTED in this company and will need to replace these dishes as they were to be my everyday dishes (dishwasher and microwave safe) that I could use for entertaining as well. DO NOT recommend buying from Mikasa based on the quality and their commitment to their product.

My Mom gifted me with 2 sets of Mikasa…

My Mom gifted me with 2 sets of Mikasa Tivoli Garden dinnerware, expecting high quality for the price she paid. After only a few months of normal use, several pieces developed cracks. Customer service offered a 30% discount instead of replacing the defective items.

For such an expensive brand, I expected much better quality and support.

They don't send return labels and ask you to pay $50+ return shipping out of pocket

Mikasa's return policy states "No Hassle Return Policy. If you don't like it or want it, we'll take it back, no questions asked!" They state the customer is responsible for return shipping. What they don't say is that they don't offer any type of return label or a consistent return fee, unlike other companies. They ask you to write a label and find your own shipping. Mine was going to be $50+ to return $65 worth of low-quality merchandise. I will never shop here again.

Mikasa warranty is a scam…

We received a gift for our anniversary on 8/25. The product says dishwasher safe on the bottom of the dishes. After a few washes the dishes lost their luster and developed a haze on them. Also 2 items have chipped. Mikasa claims to have a lifetime chip warranty and their claim that these dishes can withstand washing in a dishwasher are false.
They request so much information it make the warranty useless. I have furnished everything but the receipt. Like I said I will not ask the people who gave the gift for a receipt. How embarrassing.
So if you buy from Mikasa just know their warranty is a total lie . BEWARE. Buy from a company that stands behind their products. Beware of Lifetime Brands

Poor quality product, terrible customer service

I ordered two sets of 16 piece dinnerware. At least one of the pieces arrived with stains on the outside. I tried to wash them off but they won't budge. I immediately called Mikasa. They wanted wanted pictures, which I sent. Now they are insisting on replacing the damaged items instead of letting me return the order. If the glaze is so awful out of the box that there are already permanent stains on the pieces, I certainly don't want to pay $200 for poorly made dishes. They finally agreed to accept the return but it's been over a month and I still haven't gotten a refund.

Stanton Bone China is Fading

I have purchased multiple pieces from the Stanton line of their dishware. After less than two years, I have noticed that the finish is fading on all of the dishware that I use frequently. This is unacceptable, as this is bone china and I have invested in over 100+ pieces from this line. I also just advised my parents to buy these dishes and theirs are fading in less than 6 months of using these items.

When I contacted Mikasa customer service to ask why this is happening, they stated that they do not have a warranty, and that I could repurchase the damaged dishes at a 30% discount (This is absolutely unacceptable and terrible for the customer).

Possibly the worst part is they were unable to explain why the finish was coming off or how to prevent it. Needless to say, I do not recommend purchasing from Mikasa dishware as clearly the quality is sub-par!
