The Alton branch of Charters have been amazing throughout my house sale. Despite a couple of issues with offers being withdrawn, which was outside their control, they couldn’t have done more to help. Great communication; good follow up and regular updates; and they worked extremely hard to make sure we eventually got a sale that went through and I didn’t lose my onward purchase. I can’t thank them enough. Sarah and Jane were both incredibly caring and supportive, as well as professional. I’d recommend them to anyone wanting to sell their house. Thanks to Toby for always being so helpful and positive too.

Mazie- what a kind and knowledgeable lady. Had a great experience at a viewing with her, she had answers for all questions and made us feel at ease and like no question was silly. She is truly lovely, and would recommend requesting her for a viewing. I had a great experience with Megan Foster. I saw a house advertised, and within just three hours, she had arranged a viewing, sent over the forms, and helped me submit an offer. Everything was handled quickly and professionally, with excellent communication throughout. Really impressed with how efficient and responsive she was.

Josh was very friendly and helpful and gave me loads of time to view the property as well as lots of information. We proceeded extremely quickly after the viewing.

Freja looks after our property and there’s nothing she cannot handle. She is proactive, communicative and really goes the extra mile. Something that is appreciated by us and our tenant tremendously. The company was in a mess, with poor communications , systems and service on many levels over a considerable period of time. It was in constant flux. We were paying for a fully managed service but had to spend much time keeping them in track and picking up the pieces.  As examples, they wrongly instructed maintenance contractors, the check in and out procedures were poor.  Some staff seemed poorly trained. However most (however unhelpful or un knowledgeable) were friendly and polite.

On the positive and of late:
Connor Fennell was an exception and able to somehow cut through the chaos and for the most part , (as he could only act within and perhaps despite of the systems and protocols in place within the company. ) sort things out. He was available, communicative , resourceful , knowledgeable , patient and proactive. We are and we believe the company should be, very grateful to him. I can say that we would have gone elsewhere had it not been for him. He could not have done more. He actually listened and acted for the interests of the tenants , the owners (us) and therefore the company.

Of late Shirley Miles  has acted very effectively as liaison person. She is to be commended on all levels.

Charters we're very proactive they kept us fully informed throughout the whole process. When phoned they had answers either straight away or they would go away and find out.

I, Bissoon Ramful are delighted to moved into my comfortable flat on the 28 of September 2026 .The lettings office in Brighton/ Brighton marina,the letting team, Mr William Steward,Mr joswa,Mr Connor,all the team help me a great deal ,and make it happen for me to move fast. The letting team are great always helpful to any clients.
I am fully satisfied with their approach and friendly making me comfortable to communicate and understanding.

I have worked with Edie Jarvis from the rentals team and she does an excellent job. She is proactive, helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!

I emailed to view a flat in Brunswick Terrace (Brighton/Hove) via Zoopla and received no reply, so I sent a direct enquiry via the Charters website. On Thursday 8 October I received a call from Ben after 5pm when I was in a noisy city centre with poor reception on my way to a personal appointment. He said I had to register before I could view so I asked him to email me the registration and I would do it that evening. This was not sent. However, a lady called Sue Vila emailed me offering financial advice. I said I would discuss this after the viewing and was awaiting details. Nothing came through on Friday either but I said I was available to view then or on Sunday or Monday. On Monday morning I then received an email saying the flat was under offer and no more viewings were possible. I was very annoyed as I never got the chance to view and I was never sent the registration details, which seems very unprofessional.

Reliable, helpful, trustworthy, attentive to my needs.

Very Disappointing Experience – Concerns About Transparency and Professionalism

I paid approximately £800 to Brand Vaughan Estate Agency NOW CHARTERS in connection with a buy-to-let property, with George handling my case.

A couple of weeks later, I discovered that the property could not be mortgaged. I believe this was crucial information that should have been clearly disclosed before any payment was taken.

When I requested a refund, it was refused. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the matter, my money remains outstanding, and I am now having to consider pursuing the matter through the small claims court.

What concerned me further was that, after I requested a refund, responses began coming from a different company name, which I understand included the name Charters However, George continued to handle the responses. Which I had no dealings with this other company, and the change in company name caused further concern and confusion.

Payment was made by bank transfer, and recovering the money has proved difficult despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue.

Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing, and I have serious concerns about transparency, communication and professionalism in the handling of my case.

I would urge anyone considering Brand Vaughan Estate Agency / Charters for a buy-to-let investment to exercise caution, independently verify the property’s mortgage eligibility, and obtain written confirmation of all fees, company details and refund terms before transferring any money.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this agency.
