I've been with ME for over 25yrs, but since selling out to BOQ in mid 2021, their service is non existent.
Online banking changes are frustrating and delayed.
Now changing banks, as I'm fed up!
Customer service is also dreadful.
The last straws (several) came about 2mths ago. Over it!
Untruthful
I have been a customer for something like 30+ years. The customer service was helpful a long long time ago. My home loan accounts disappeared from the system after they transitioned to this new banking application. After repeated calls and assurances that the accounts would be reinstated and that they would call me back...nothing has happened for 5 months. They never return phone calls, do not respond to emails and they do not follow up on their words.
Untruthful and do not know how to treat customers in a respectful manner...

Worse bank ever i dont want to give them any stars..Dont bank or get home loan with Me Bank. Been with them for 5 yrs they have overdrawn my account by taking two home loan repayments out on a number of times left me with no money for days then my other bills get dishonoured and starts a chain reaction no apologies nothing dont bank with ME BANK F N SHIT customer service as well liars..
Intentional obfuscation to avoid paying
We set up a high interest account, and they paid us ~10% of what we were due for Oct 2024. We complained, and they said we hadn't met the deposit criteria (which we had), but that they'd make an "interest adjustment" as a once-off gesture. We took this to mean a full payment. It was another ~5%. We complained again and they never replied.
Ignores discharge request.....
I have been with ME Bank for 10yrs and recently requested to change banks so all of my banking is with the same bank.The commonwealth bank requested we wanted to book in a settlement date and discharge form to move forward on the 18th of February and its taken 6 weeks for ME to delay the process and ignore it.
When you call on the phone you are put on hold and moved from one person to another.
It's taken from the 18th of February to the 2nd of April just to recieve a different form for discharge.Maybe provide better customer service.In the 10yrs I have not received any positive updates or incentives.
I am glad I am moving away from this company.
Do better and you might gain more clients.
deceitful interest charges on home loan
They can charge you home loan interest even if they tell you in bank statements that you ow about 2cents, I have just received a payout figure of $1500.

Refuse to refund cyber fraud
I was a victim of cyber fraud. Multiple small purchases were made on my card account in Melbourne, during a period when i was travelling overseas - with the card! I had notified ME Bank that I was travelling overseas. The card had obviously been skimmed and small purchases were made over three days until the card was maxed out. ME have refused to refund stating that I gave my card details or PIN number to a third party - which I did not! Clearly ME Bank are liable for these purchases, but are obviously just trying this on. Off to the Ombudsman and closing my accounts

Worst bank in australia, cancelling credit card after 10yrs, no option to balance transfer to BOQ who owns them. Theyve killed the bank , perhaps that was the plan, now have to rearrange my business and leave me bank. selfish.
NO STARS!!!!! Stay away from ME Bank
I have been a loyal customer for about 20 years and have even encouraged friends/family to use ME. For the past 10 years, my son and I transfer funds to each other with the transfer always being almost instant, but this has suddenly been changed. Apparently, funds transfers can now take up to 2 days! Money is immediately removed from my account and goes who knows where for 2 days, then it appears in my son's account - but he needed the money when I sent it!! The bank has been doing this for years under the "old system" but the new system has changed this - BUT I call boulderdash.
This is 2025, and all of this is computerised, so everything is instant - if they want it to be! They took my money instantly!
When I made a complaint, they didn't care and pathetically, did absolutely nothing to help.

I have had many homeloans over my time, and to be honest, Me Bank was my first 'non-traditional' bank (not one of the big 4 or associates)... but from signing up day one I had concerns. Communication is poor with this bank. Staff don't tell you 'everything' and for instance, fee and charges are hidden until sign-on has occurred. When I had questions, I would be referred to other departments, people etc who wouldn't return my calls. Eventually, you just gave up...
The disappointing this is their "Members Package".... its $395 a year to have an interest rate comparative to other banks.... or if you don't take this offer, its 2% higher (YES... 2%.... mine was 6.09%, I refused to pay the ridiculous Members fee, and they pushed my homeloan interest rate up to 8.53%...
So with that... Im out.
DO NOT USE THIS BANK... they are dodgy, misleading, and only in it for the profits (like many others)...

Been a loyal customer with perfect credit and high savings for 20 years. Now they close the credit card product and invite me to apply to virgin money which is part of BOQ group with ME. I get rejected in application. Why did I have to apply? Should have been an automatic rollover to Virgin money. They have access to my entire bank history. This seriously must be fixed.
Stay Away, The Worst Lender I Have Encountered
Our current three loans of 2.49% fixed interest P&I loans with ANZ expired 7 May 2022. We engaged a broker end of January & he was able to offer 3.19% for 3yrs fixed with ME Bank. We were given an option to pay $750 per loan to lock this rate in, which we did. The process with ME has been very very slow. We had three unconditional loans approved in writing by ME Bank. We received two loans documents mid-March, we sent completed signed docs back within days. We waited six weeks our loans had not been processed. Meanwhile the broker was calling ME every second day to enquire about the where abouts of the third loan documents. ME advised that they were having technical issues & will send this soon. Four weeks later, it come to light there was never a technical issue, as there was a serviceability issue with the loans. (This was after being told the loan was unconditionally approved) back in 18 March. At no point did ME request for any additional documentation or advised there was a concern about the serviceability. We have now been notified in writing by ME that, ‘sorry we can’t go through with your loan applications’. My question is, why did ME provide an unconditional approval & send out loan docs, the serviceability should have been sorted by ME during their due-diligence process. Our 3.19% fixed rate no longer is on offer. As ME have now wasted four months of our time, alternative banks are now offering 5% fixed rates. ME Bank are like the modern-day terrorist, they don’t care, ruin people lives & don’t care about the aftermath. Please be Warned, any potential person considering of engaging ME for loans or banking, you will be mucked around. ME will lure you in with low interest rates, offer you $3k to switch over each loan & then offer you a ridiculous ultimatum. i.e. to still offer you the loans, we needed to close our credit card & contribute an additional $50k from our personal savings, what a joke you are ME Bank. For any insane reason you do proceed to engage ME, you deserve the pain & suffering that you will eventually endure. ME Bank is unprofessional, deceptive, unreliable, dishonest, deceitful & they will mislead you with false information throughout the loan process. The broker raised a complaint & our concerns to two senior managers, their responses where we can’t help you as we are leaving ME Bank, how disgusting. It’s incompetent amateur banks like ME, why there needs to be a royal commission into the banking lending sector again. Regrettably, the details I've highlighted are only part of the ordeal ME has subjected us to. We have now lodged a complaint with AFCA, to seek compensation by ME & engaged legal representation. Avoid Members Equity Bank like the plague. They are an incompetent, time wasting, nerve shredding disaster of a company that deserves to be shut down. They don’t deliver on their promises, they treat customers with utter disdain, and they’ll leave you regretting every second you trusted them. This isn’t just a warning, this is a demand: Stay. Away.

I invested 500k with this bank and every time the term deposit finalised they failed 3 times to obtain my instructions to send the money back to my bank account.
This time I called and I changed over the phone which it was very easy but a few days later when I was requesting to make sure they money was going to be send to my account I was told that the customer service person should have never taken my new account over the phone even after I provided my security details rather I had to send a form which I could electronically fill in ‘NOT".. which I did however the signature was not opening to do so on the form .. so the form was rejected.
Also I was told the balance had to go back to an account with my personal name on it which I found to be unacceptable since the money originally came out of our business account to invest so they did not accept that.
I also told them that the banking systems don’t check account names so why out of a sudden this request as I am the director of the business on the particular account ... to cut the story short they deposited to my business account using my personal name on it without even checking just to prove the point that our banking system is corrupt and have both times failed to follow their own rules .. I mean this bank has red tapes all over it with a customer service and restriction on how they need to service their customer and if you like to talk to a supervisor good luck as they never return calls or being available to talk to.
GOODBYE ME you will never see me again.
Awful for expats
The roll out of their new banking system has seemed to ignore Australian citizens/residents living overseas temporarily. I can't access any of my ME Bank accounts in the original or new banking system. Also had troubles trying to access my accounts from the UK before their new accounts roll out. I would advise to avoid ME Bank if you plan to live overseas temporarily or need to travel back and forth. It's not a reliable bank. Maybe a different story if you plan to never leave Australia.
Total botch by ME on transitioning
I have been a customer 25 years. They blocked my accounts when they transitioned to MeGO. I haven't had access since. I rang them numerous times - always on hold over an hour and can't always wait all day as I work. Got through once and they tried to unblcok the accounts but couldn't. There is some glitch with the password software so that every time I reset it, it blocks me immediately. ME don't know why. And that's where we're at. No account access since 24 November - 3 weeks. ME has told me to be patient.... Really? No mniey for weeks and I have to be patient. I have managed to move my pay to another bank and opened new accounts that I can now operate. When AFCA - if they ever get off their chuffs - finally force them to fix this I will be able to close the accounts. It's a disgrace though. If I hadn't had a credit card to tide me over I would have been in very deep doo-doo.

This is the most shocking service , ME bank needs severe prosecution for the worst customer experience.
They have shut down their call taking but leave you hanging in hope someone will answer for hours with the most pathetic call waiting messages. therefore I have no way of accessing my accounts now as the new App no longer recognizes me . Absolute CRAP

Me Bank blocked my account on a Sunday…
Me Bank blocked my account on a Sunday and then their customer service doesn't have access to Me Bank Go accounts after hours so I had no access to my money. Their customer service was non-existent and just transferred me to a few different people and then hung up. This experience reminded me I need to organise my money with a proper bank that has decent customer service (including after hours!)

Cant believe a bank would intentionally break everyone's account numbers and transaction cards to force using their app.
Myself and family members left with no way to pay for things... I was overseas at the time!
Sorting it out now by installing the app (forced to use) and activating the all new cards they've mailed all their customers... whose idea was this?
Likely have to fix all my direct debits too... noticed there is now different functionality between the app and new web version... erm why?
Not everyone wants to or can use their mobile phone (if they have one) for everything ... srsly sack the product owner and all yes men on this project.
What a nightmare... closing accounts and going elsewhere as this is unforgivable.

NO RESPONSE. Try closing your account or accessing a sum that's greater than your daily limit and tough luck. Not great if you're trying to buy a house or a car. They do not respond to the chat. They do not answer your call. They just enjoy the benefits they get off your savings. This review was written after a whole week of trying to communicate with these con artists
