Exceptional Quality and Customer Service

First and foremost I have been working directly with my representative Claire since April 2022 I ordered the large Marnie Range Sofa, Loveseat and Footstool Italian Linen with White Piping color Sunstone it is absolutely GORGEOUS and it has been wonderful working with Claire even after the reorganization of Maker and Son Claire reached back out to me numerous times to update me and I just recently placed a new order on or about July 7th or 15th Claire is prompt courteous and very understanding. I still have a small issue with the cushions sagging I’m hoping to get them replaced otherwise Claire is absolutely wonderful can’t wait for the new order and will continue to do business with Maker and Son go visit the Maker and Son in Los Angeles Claire will take care of you!!! she has Integrity and honesty

We made contact with Maker & Son…

We made contact with Maker & Son because of the advertisement. Claire responded nearly immediately. She provided design service based on the dimensions and photos we sent. The turnaround time was quick and the designs looked great. Claire sent four fabric samples which were very nice.
Inasmuch as we liked the couch and chair we measured the space and found that it would be somewhat tight to use these units and opted for smaller sizes.
If we would have had the space, we would have moved forward with one couch and one chair; they are beautiful and look very comfortable. Plus, the initial service was great.

Warning

I ordered over $22,000 worth of furniture from Maker&Son in April of 2022 and have not received any of it. I repeatedly tried to contact the company about it and they just played a shell game, saying they'd look into it or giving me a name of someone else to contact, that I later learned didn't work for the company any longer, and then just refusing to respond. And I also learned that when I placed my order, the company already knew they were in trouble and wouldn't be able to fulfill my order as the manufacturer they used had refused to stop manufacturing for them because Maker&Son hadn't paid them. I spoke to that manufacturer and they also said the company, under this new current management, was continuing to take new orders with no manufacturer to make the furniture. So, no, this company is not changed and still hasn't fulfilled backorders for people that paid huge sums of money. I will never stop trying to warn people about this company and now I see they're trying to reopen a new showroom in the U.S. But that could just be another lie to make people feel they're a stable reliable company...which they are absolutely not.

As an asset of the previous company, the US arm of the business at the time was closed in 2022 and is under the management of FRP Advisory. I had and still have the WORST…

UPDATE: As you see below, the company responded to this review. So I sent an email and NOT TO MY SURPRISE they still haven't responded. They didn't even provide an email for me in their response below, so I sent my concerns to Maker & Son's general email on their website. So, things still haven't changed, despite what they say. I have emails saying I would be getting a refund, and that was years ago. Still, no refund, and now, no response from new management.

I had and still have the WORST experience with Maker and Son. I spent over 6K for a couch that is defective. I've tried disputing the fee, but since they were acquired by a new company, nothing can be done. Unfortunately, I purchased a couch at the fancy showroom in NYC and turns out this company knew they were in deep waters. As soon as I recived my couch, I emailed them about the issues and they were never resolved. I have soooo many emails saying they WOULD help me, but I was not helped. DO YOU KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO FEEL FOOLED AND DECIVED MAKER AND SON??? IM so upset bc even now, with new management, it took forever to get a response. I've had to live with a couch that's causing back problems. I absolutely hate this Instagram scam of a company, and even thought I realize they have new management, it still hurts knowing "Nothing can be done".

BEWARE!…

After a visit from their chic Mercedes mobile showroom, I ordered a sofa, paid close to $4k for a down payment, and then was very nearly ghosted by the company. When someone did occasionally respond to my emails (no one would ever get on the phone with me), it was a different name every time, they could not answer my questions, and I began to suspect a scam. Eventually I had to have American Express refund my deposit. A total nightmare and one of the worst retail experiences I’ve had. Beware.

They shipped faulty product in the U.S., the founder admitted the mistakes via email - and the head of Production (Wilson) promised to ship replacement parts but they never did. He kept promising for months that it would be shipping and then disappeared.
The positive reviews on here are fake - the new owners do not respond.

I had a terrible experience with this…

I had a terrible experience with this company. Firstly, it's was extremely delayed and the amount of emails I had to send to get replies is embarrassing. Then when I get it, there is feathers flying everywhere in my navy couch. They sent me covers. I no longer watch tv because the couch is so extremely uncomfortable. I sink into the back and each cushion weighs so much that it's impossible to get into a new position. This was a massive $22,000 mistake. I'm so upset. I never write reviews but I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake. All that bouncing around on Instagram is a joke, they probably never get back up!

Shockingly terrible customer service……

Shockingly terrible customer service… purchased a couch and chaise lounge a year ago in a beige colour. They said they could send us a white denim version and send the correct fabric slip covers ‘approximately a month later.’ I agreed, based on the notion that we’d be receiving the correct slip covers shortly after. We received the white furniture in MAY and despite numerous attempts to contact both the US and UK team, I’ve received two extremely vague emails since with absolutely no information or timeline. So we’ve been stuck with the wrong furniture for already 6 months longer than anticipated, with no end in sight. Considering these are luxury items and this is the worst customer service I’ve ever received…. for any item, I’m so disappointed and shocked.

11 months after order, no response from customer service

The company apparently complained about my review and requested it be removed, so I reposted it. I got a response saying tp email their customer service, which I had done dozens of times, and a message saying that "Someone from our customer service will respond to you." I have NEVER gotten a response. Their "live chat" function does not work. Their phone numbers go straight to voicemail. Literally, the only response I have ever gotten is here on TrustPilot, which apparently they monitor.

DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THE 5-STAR REVIEWS, THEY ARE ALL APPEARING WITHIN JUST A FEW DAYS IN EARLY DECEMBER, THEY ARE FAKE AND FROM THE COMPANY ITSELF!!

They are apparently watching the TrustPilot site as I have gotten a request to move this review to their US site. They still have not answered any of my emails, and have not answered any of my phone calls to customer service. I have tried to contact both the US and UK and have received absolutely no response.

A message to Maker and Son: If you want to revive your business and stop getting horrible reviews, don't use these incredibly shady tactics to buff your review ratings from real people. Do the right thing and pay back your customers! If anyone reading this has also had this issue with Maker and Son, file a dispute with your credit card company (if you bought using a card) or seek returns from a small claims court. They can't get away with stealing our money like this.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Placed an order at the beginning of the year. all money paid upfront, with a delivery date 6 months later. 11 months after ordering and i have not received a delivery date and have requested a refund for nearly 2 months now. no one answers the customer service number or email. i think they have gone out of business and are unable to refund any of their customers. so more than $5300 simply gone.

Unfortunately the business in the US has ceased trading and as an asset of the old company, Maker&Son Ltd/MSOLD1, is now under the control of liquidators.

We feel it is important to clarify that we are no longer part of the previous company, Maker&Son Ltd/MSOLD1, however, our new company (Maker&Son Ops Ltd) in the UK, with the global rights to the Brand and IP, is continuing to trade lawfully in the UK.

We have recently published a public statement online as well as launched a help page on our UK website to help answer as many of the questions we have received as possible and provide as much clarity as possible, including customers in the US. Worst experience ever!!
