Tasty hygienic meals, would definitely recommend!

As a first timer doing meal prep I was a bit sceptical but I can say investing in good fresh meals has changed the way I feel everyday and highly recommend

lots of choices, great selection, fast delivery with secure 'fresh' packaging! delicious food! haven't found anything yet I didn't like!

Macro meals are world class. Easy, quick and most importantly Delicious! Would 100% recommend, worth every penny.

I was so excited and looking forward to my first delivery with Macro Meals. The selection was great and the ability to adapt meals to my diet was fantastic.

First disappointment:
The meals were delivered with damaged cooling pouches and most of the containers were covered with thick gel. Based on reviews something like this has happened in the past, but the company still uses poor quality cooler bags!

Second disappointment:
After contacting customer service, I was assured that the containers were sealed and certainly not contaminated. The truth is, some of them were already leaking sauce (shown in the photos I sent them), which means they weren't sealed and could have been contaminated. I was quite surprised, because if I were the owner of such a business, I wouldn't take a risk of food poisoning in such case, I would exchange the order straight away and report to the courier for compensation ... but well ... I kept what looked well sealed and put it straight in the fridge.

Third disappointment:
All the dishes containing corn and cauliflower were not fresh and didn't smell good when cooked (confirmed by 3 different people). It's hard to say if the rest of the dishes were fresh, because after eating a few and landing in the toilet, I could have been overly careful. I threw them all in the trash. I have worked in food production for many years, and that can only mean two things. Either the hygiene practices in the production area are very poor, or the products lie there for a long time and are packed already off.

After recommendation from a friend, I decided to give Marcomeals ago. The website was really easy to navigate with the option to 'switch on' dietary requirements and have randomised meal suggestions. I wanted to try one meal to start with as a trial, though a minimum order was £30. I decided to try a few different dishes as a one off, though I may not have been so hasty to do so if not for my friends recommendation. Perhaps a one off meal could be an option for newbies, though I imagine the reason is carriage cost. I'm so glad I ordered! Customised meals are suggested with the calories/protiens/carbs and fats quantities shown per meal. I made adjustments to some meals via drop down boxes to make mine under 500 cals each. On the way to checkout I got prompted for breakfast oats and pancakes which I added to my order to bring me to my minimum spend .

You have the option to subscribe to weekly/fortnightly/monthly orders and to randomise the orders accordingly. Ordered on Tuesday am , received next day lunchtime (so I decided to have my pancakes for supper!) Fridge life as expected 3 days , anything I wasn't going to eat in that time I'd freeze straight away. Heating instructions from fridge temperature, so I added an extra 2 mins to my from frozen ones. The meals are delicious,arrive next day and cooked fresh, my idea of heaven as I dislike cooking just for myself.

Example meal - Salmon, fluffy potato, broccoli, peas, reggae sauce. The pot is deceiving, I didn't think it would be a full dish , but I was wrong! There was plenty of food and it's nice to feel healthy! My only grumble is (unknown to me) reggae sauce is a bit hot! Perhaps a 'how hot icon' at selection process would of helped me of my embarrassment. Would recommend and order again! Thank you Macromeals

Great food, great price

Meals are tasty and convenient. Good portion size. Only gripe is you can’t edit your order without having to cancel and start a new one.

UPDATED :
Have upgraded the rating on this to reflect the suppliers positive response to below. In the end after trying a second batch to see if that was better and based on below they reached out to see what could be done and when we concluded it wasn’t going to be possible in the short term they offered a full refund. Whilst this wasn’t the outcome either of us would have wanted (the search for reasonable and balanced keto precooked meals continues) I have to commend macro meals on constructively taking onboard the feedback and how they resolved this. If you want keto I wouldn’t use them just yet , but if you are just looking for precooked meals you’ll have more options so worth a go. If only more companies actually cared like this !

Ordered 14 meals using keto macro tool /?structured meal plan tool then discovered after eating that many were not keto as the tool included high carb options that kept me out of ketosis and not enough fat.

Also meal reheating instructions poor and inconsistent between packaging and leaflet in box. many of the vegetables remained inconsistently cooked/uncooked when reheated making meal prep difficult and end meal quality low due to the way the meal is prepared (huge chunks of cauliflower not precooked enough take significantly longer to cook than green beans!). Fish was good , chicken breast impossible to get it ‘succulent’ as suggested by the description.. generally was rubbery and chewy despite trying different reheating times.

Sauce options for keto very limited and if you can’t take spicy foods next to zero options.

On plus side size of portions were good but again I’m certain they are not balanced macro wise for keto despite that being the ask… ie high fat medium protein low carb.

Have tried a second batch just incase this was just a bad week, have manually excluded the things that aren’t keto. Fingers crossed this week is better. If only they could get keto macro right and their preparation right they’d be a winner

Amazing service, even better food

I ordered 10 personalised meals and when delivered the cooling gel pack had split open and had covered all 10 containers, also one of the meals was split open and was not edible as the gel pack had gone into the food.

Food was really good, I was sceptical before ordering, but they are 100% worth it, and I'll be back for more, it's made my life so much easier!

The most disgusting and inconsistent food I’ve eaten over the course of my entire life. I want the chefs to eat the food after 3 days of cooking it and let me know what they think about the quality.

When the meals first arrived I thought that the portion are small but I realised afterwards that they are meant to be part of a balanced nutrition plan. I incorporated them to my nutrition plan my dietician created and as part of a healthy 5 smaller (than usual) meals per day I am very happy and not hungry at all. The taste is amazing!

Good quality food and great flavours. Being able to choose protein/ carb/ veg combinations is a plus, but having a system to make the decision for you is also makes selecting a plan for the week so much easier.

Great choice. Loved that I could choose my daily meals, and not be stuck with one menu fits all. but unfortunately the meals were really dry the salmon especially. The pancakes which I was so looking forward to were that dry they were inedible. If you do change your recipes and offer a sample to try I would come back as no one else offers the daily choice like you do.

Honestly, my entire house is smelling dated food. Heated one, bad smell, second one bad smell, everything gone to the bin.

First and last order.

By he way, learn something, sauce on the side.

Goinga back to Lions Prep!

Great Idea and the customisation of every meal is great, but unfortunately I've only had a hard time tried to make the subscription plan working.

There is an option to do a one off order, but it looks like the toggle button to that activates the subscription plan instead doesn't work, so you are kind of force in having a subscription plan. It seems once you have submitted the first order then there's no way to change the meals before for your next order,so have ended up with a second order of 10 meals I didn't really want.

I gave it a go again trying the one-off order instead, but didn't realise the subscription plan restarted itself again, ending up with a second order that again I didn't want, hopefully When they will open they're offices on Tuesday they will be able to cancel it for me.

It is a really good idea again, just the system that is a bit hard to use, that's all, if they can improve that I'll definitely come back to use them.

Excellent service, meals are awesome made up of the foods I want to eat and they taste great
