We hired the real estate agent to rent our condo in Aventura, Florida, Luis Rodriguez, from London Foster Realty, in the middle of October 2025. Over the next few months, showings were very few, and Luis attributed this to the lack of upgrades in the property. Following his advice, we invested over $10,000 in renovations. Despite these costly renovations, showings remained scarce, and we still hadn't received a single offer.
On February 4, four months after his hiring and no offer, we sent him a termination notice. Surprisingly, the very next day, we received an offer, but the potential tenants had only $200 in their joint account. We requested follow-up documents, such as tax returns and full credit reports, but they were unwilling to provide any, and they withdrew their offer. THIS OFFER SEEMED LIKE A JOKE, and it was hard to believe that any serious landlord would accept tenants under such conditions.
Although our price was reasonable, our listing was the oldest one on the market without a real offer. After four months, we had to compete against a second wave of newly listed condos. On February 17th, we decided to terminate Luis's services. To our surprise, within less than 24 hours, all documents were signed, and the keys were handed over to the new broker. We were taken aback by how quickly he was able to finalize the termination.
In my 30 years of renting properties, I have never experienced such unprofessional service from an agent. His services were deplorable and a mockery of the profession and of property owners.
