I initially gave a good review when I moved in because everything seemed fine, but unfortunately my opinion changed because of how things were handled during and after my tenancy.
There was a bedbug issue in the HMO affecting multiple rooms. I was given a one-off spray for my room, but the issue was bigger than just one room. I also used the treatment in a communal area and informed the agent. I wasn’t told I would be charged for this at the time. I only noticed my rent account was showing as in debit and, after asking, I was told it was for the bedbug treatment. I was told if I didn’t pay, they would take it from my deposit, and I told them to go ahead as I stand to dispute it reason being that is a hmo, started few months after moving in and my next door flatmate is complaining too and they haven’t addressed the issue properly, I used what they provided in communal areas of the house, no treatment was provided for other house members and I kept buying treatment just to keep they away till I moved out and to think that nothing has been done about the bedbug issue at the property even after 3 months of moving out and they have put it out for rent so unfair to whoever to ever will live there.
After moving out, I sent pictures showing the condition I’ve left the room obviously cleaner than I met it but I was still charged cleaning costs without providing explanation as to what exactly they were cleaning when I inquired. Well I disputed the claims through Reposit, and the claims was to my favour as they couldn’t provide evidence and justification of their claims.
Overall, I was disappointed with how the situation was handled. My advice to future tenants is to take pictures, keep records, and document everything.
