Don't bother
I honestly don’t know how White Horse Holiday Park gets away with charging what it does.
The road in is a joke — potholes everywhere. It feels like you’re driving into the middle of nowhere, and not in a nice countryside way. Just isolated and awkward.
The lodge looked nothing like the photos. It felt grubby and worn out. Cobwebs in corners, dirt under the decking, furniture that’s clearly seen better days. It didn’t feel properly cleaned, just quickly “ticked off.”
The bed was awful. You could feel every spring. We barely slept. For something advertised as a relaxing break, it was anything but.
The hot tub? Half the jets didn’t work properly. It was warm, yes, but that’s the bare minimum. Not luxury. Not even close.
There’s basically nothing nearby, so if you forget food or need anything, tough luck. The whole place just feels neglected and overpriced.
We left feeling annoyed more than relaxed. Wouldn’t go back even if it was half the price.
Nightmare experience the lodge dirty…
Nightmare experience the lodge dirty not maintained hot tub not working slippery and dangerous decking site was grubby so far from luxury
Customer services and management team Antonia Kennedy ignoring my emails avoid at all costs these sites need shutting down there dangerous and I don’t know how they can say these are luxury the beds looked like and felt like they had been in the lodges for minimum of 10 years they made so much noise when turning over and we had to sleep on top of duvet to avoid springs sticking into us
Told site reception about issues but did nothing we don’t get into the hot tub until 9pm on second night
Paid for a wooden lodge, dumped in a dirty caravan – avoid unless you love terrible customer service
I booked a wooden lodge with a hot tub at Woodlakes Park (Liv Retreats) for a relaxing countryside getaway from 16–18 August 2025. From the moment we arrived, the experience was a disaster.
Reception was closed (on a Saturday afternoon, which I find very unreasonable), so we had to call the out-of-hours number to check in – we were told we were in “Sky 15.” When we got there, it was not a wooden lodge at all, but a caravan. After another call to the out-of-hours number, we were then told our lodge was out of action due to an electrical fault. At no point had Liv Retreats contacted me to inform me that my lodge would be unavailable. It felt like we had been scammed, and I was left stressed and frustrated.
The caravan itself hadn't been cleaned properly: crumbs on the kitchen countertop, a dirty sink, stained sofa, and the main bedroom bed had no mattress cover. The “hot tub” outside was a jacuzzi bath with no cover – nothing like what we booked. Kitchen provisions were minimal and careless: oven gloves for a kitchen with no oven, a disposable j-cloth, a tea towel, washing-up liquid, but no sponge.
Beyond this, the general condition of the park was disheartening: the abandoned remains of the old outdoor Asian restaurant, the poor state of the 'swimming pool', and even concerning welfare issues in the 'Enchanted Forest', where pigs were in an enclosure with random loose plugs and a remote on the ground.
Booking.com were very helpful and opened a complaint on our behalf, but Liv Retreats are completely ignoring the case. Don't bother calling them ever – one number tells you to use the online chat function, while another number rings forever yet nobody ever picks up. The online chat function is useless – the agents are rude and can only take bookings. Not to mention that the onsite team supposedly cannot access any online booking information – only head office can. The onsite team said they wouldn't have been able to tell us about the change prior to our arrival or do anything with our complaint. Although the onsite staff were nice, it was disheartening to find they're able to wash their hands of any complaints immediately.
I finally got hold of head office over email. In my email, I explicitly explained that I had already raised this issue with Booking.com immediately upon arrival (16th August). Booking.com then immediately opened a case with Liv Retreats. On the 18th August, Booking.com informed me that they had received no response from Liv Retreats. As a next step, Booking.com advised me to contact LR again in order to urge them to respond to Booking.com.
The email I received from LR was laughable, telling me I need to raise the issue with Booking.com – instructing me to do exactly what I have already done. This circular response demonstrates a lack of accountability and, frankly, further underlines Liv Retreat's poor level of customer service. My complaint is already open in Booking.com's system, and it is Liv Retreats who has failed to engage with it. Passing me back to Booking.com again is not a resolution– it is deliberate avoidance.
This experience was stressful, disappointing, and completely ruined our weekend. I would not recommend Liv Retreats to anyone. If you book with Liv Retreats, be prepared for misrepresentation, poor property standards, and appalling customer service.
n.b. I only wish I took more pictures of the state of the park and our caravan. It seems like Woodlakes Park has almost been taken care of. Some parts are truly lovely, others are horrifying.
Avoid, lots of issues and no one answers phones
The decking was dangerous, holes and splintered wood, especially round hot tub. Hot tub only had 2 jets working so was like sitting in warm bath. beds felt like you were laying on springs so didn,t sleep. only small freezer compartment and the door had fallen off so was freezing things in fridge, broken glasses in the cupboard which nearly caused accident to child, only had 2 glasses for 6 people. one hob ring was broke. The lodge smelt fusty, radiators were rusty, looked like it had not had a good clean as dirt in corners. ran out of gas. tried to report all the issues but no one ever answered phones. will not recommend or go back ever. Just to add, Theres no wifi and bad phone reception.
Sherwood Forester 38
Had a lovely weekend in Sherwood Forest at Sherwood Castle. We stayed in Sherwood Forester 38 which was beautifully presented. It was very spacious, had everything you could need for a short break with the extra bonus of a Hot Tub and Sauna. The site itself was small, quiet and relaxing. We booked through Liz at Staycation breaks who was very helpful throughout. I would highly recommend both the site and the booking agent. I would love to visit again.
Excellent
Little Eden holiday park.
Firstly.. One word. Relaxed.
Booked for 2 nights with family of 5. The lodge was so clean and provided everything we needed. The hot tub was immaculate . 10 mins from the centre of briddlington. Barmstone beach only 5 mins away, perfect for the young ones to go crabbing etc. The fishing lake was an added bonus and was even more impressed to learn u can hire all the equipment u need on site at a tiny cost of £8 for 24 hrs. Will definately be booking through bexscapes again. Hassle free from the get go and the perfect weekend. Highly recommended. Will be returning
One night stay at Apple Grove Country Park
Just got back from a great one night stay with my husband who booked through Bexscapes.
If you’re wanting a peaceful and relaxing break, Applegrove Country Park is the place! First time we have been here and it was just what we needed.
There isn’t a pub/restaurant on site, but that didn’t matter. We took our own drink and ate out!
We found a lovely pub called The Three Jolly Sailors where we had lunch (was about 5 minutes drive away from the park) their homemade chips are BEAUT! Then in the evening we ventured into Scarborough and found the most gorgeous Indian restaurant called The India…you will not be disappointed! The lodge we stayed in (number 45) was spacious, clean, and fully equipped with everything you’d need. The hot tub was a great size…could have easily fitted 8 people in it!
We will definitely choose this park again for when we just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life!
I did booked my getaway through…
I did booked my getaway through bexscapes n loved every minute the family friendly park was great and the hot tub was a bonus! The lodge was lovely 10/10 experience will be back and booking through Becky!

Little Eden
Little Eden, Bridlington
Third time staying here now and we love it. Been for a girlie weekend, a family stay with children and another adult family get together and loved each stay. The park is quiet with a fishing lake, my partner and little boy loved this and hired the gear while we were there.
Lodge 30 is perfect for fishing, Liv lodge 7 was stunning and very private then the Ranch was really spacious. I highly recommend.
Taxi into Brid cost £10
Takeaway delivery to site
Park manager very accommodating
We're staying here currently
We're staying here currently, We originally got moved as the hot tub lodge we booked wasn't working, which was nice enough so 1 star for that. However upon arrival the lodge is not clean, dead flies on windowsills, smell of fish within the lodge, we had to open all doors and windows to remove the smell. The hot tub was filthy, and not working. So we couldn't use it the first night, we thought the hot tubs were checked daily so would be rectified the following day, it wasn't. We came back to the lodge hot tub still filthy and not working, had to get maintenance to fix it where he cleaned the dirt from it & filled it up.
The lodge (30) is facing onto the carpark with no privacy or fencing when your in the hot tub, so that was also poor.
I would not recommend this place to anyone or come again.
Little Eden, Bridlington lodge 19
Just back from a really disappointing stay in lodge 19. Just as we were leaving I got a message from the host to say the WiFi was unavailable, which was an immediate let down. We had seen on reviews that the WiFi was really good, and as I knew there wasn’t much to do on the site itself, we had planned cosy nights in with a Netflix list. Also with young child, I knew her not having access to her iPad for downtown would be problematic. I hoped our mobile phone signals would suffice, but soon established no network unless we sat by the door of the lodge. The message from the host also stated the heating was on, but on arrival it wasn’t, and with the temps outside being below zero, it took hours to warm up. The radiator in the living area also didn’t get fully warm at the bottom.
As soon as we entered the lodge, we were hit by this absolutely foul smell. I thought it maybe the drains or the toilets, all of which seemed ok, but the smell was the strongest in the kitchen and living area but ran throughout. The rooms were of a good size, and the bedding, towels etc were all fresh.
The photos of the lodge displayed an open log burner (I knew it would be electric), but this wasn’t there, and also wasnt provided even though we were told it would be once i raised the fact. It was also advertised as having a covered hot tub outside, but it wasn’t. There was an issue with the tub on the second day, so was unusable all day due to the temperature. The site maintenance came straight out to have a look and reset it, but still meant we went a full day without being able to use it.
I messaged the host, and livlodges who we booked with, who said all issues had to be sent to their customer service team, so I forwarded on. We were told the smell would be looked at, and on the second day an on call guy from the Barmston site came over, and said the smell certainly wasn’t usual and again said it would be looked into. I fell ill with sickness and diarrhoea, which I can’t say was to do with the lodge, but now that I’m home and unpacked, I can smell that foul odor on all our belongings.
No fire was brought to our lodge. The radiator wasn’t sorted, and we had to live with that horrendous smell for 3 days. The maintenance guy thought it might be a dead animal and said he would investigate, but nothing was done.
Avoid!

Stayed at hideaway lincoln we have been before, this trip was so much better, rooms clean kitchen spotless , hot tub hot and clean , perfect two days away if you want peace and quiet, to top ot off woke up to the red arrows ahead x
See you again , many thanks
Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting, overpriced and customer service is shocking.
My lodge was not clean upon arrival, had to get them to actually do it then they put rose petals on the bed to compensate for below adequate house keeping.
The hot tub, you know the facility you over pay for did not work. Moved us to another lodge @ 2200 to tell us we’d have to move out in the morning for new guests. Wow fobbed off. None of the TV’s worked, they had to be connected to wifi apparently.
I’ve emailed for a full refund; no you can have a ‘free night stay’ is it free if i’ve paid for two nights and left due to all the inept services. Had to email the manager to see if he cares about his business.
Also, Jack Gladden, power trip of a man, all he had to say is ‘its not like they didn’t get a solution’.
Disgusting behaviour, customer service is disgusting, services are disgusting. Overpriced shite experience, don’t waste your money.
Amazing get away
Had the most phenomenal time kev made experience wonderful what an amazing guy nothing was to much trouble. He did a perfect job and nothing was to much trouble. Place was clean tidy and view and experience out of this world hot tub was warm and everything was so so nice. Bar lady and cook did a wonderful job food drinks and friendly faces top job.
Only down fall was signal but if you want peace and quiet I guess it a bonus
Nice lodge clean and hot tub was great…
Nice lodge clean and hot tub was great for first 2 nights 3rd night water had turned green! Due to not enough chlorine in water.!needs bit more maintainance on a daily basis! Enjoyed our stay everyone staff were very friendly! However the pub let it down. Outside pub garden which could have been outstanding lacked in the cleaning area. Leaves rubbish on floors left pizza on tables was stuffy! Rained on the sat morning and all the cushions on the seating had obviously not been taken in because they were all wet! And if your thinking of ordering food don’t! Was discussing not fit for a dog! Think the chef had done a runner and the bar staff were doing ding meals!
Lovely but does need a few improvements to be perfect
Me and my partner stayed at the hideaway in Lincoln we was in lodge 38 for our anniversary.
Positive points:
- [ ] Greeted as soon as we got out of the car with a warm welcome.
- [ ] Lodge was clean and set up on arrival and is a very homey lodge.
- [ ] Hot tub was nice and clean and ready to go when we got there
- [ ] I was happy to discover there was a washer/dryer in the lodged which made me have some relief as our towels were still wet from the previous night. With having the issue with heating I worried they would never get dry.
- [ ] Beautiful scenery and although people moan about the road down me and my partner found it quite fun and found ourselves laughing the whole time! Definitely does need some more stopping spots as not every pot hole is filled yet but they’re getting there.
- [ ] Tea, coffee, sugar and milk sachets and a good amount, two dishwasher pods, some washing up liquid and new sponge.
- [ ] Staff are lovely the bar women, chef and the guy who does the hot tubs were welcoming ended up sitting in the pub from 8-10:30 having a lovely chat.
Negative points:
- [ ] There’s no mention of when reception is open and when leaving no one was in there so left our key with a note.
- [ ] Upon arrival was told our key would be in the door and the hot tub and heating was on the key wasn’t in the door but Gary quickly got it to us. It was still a little bit cold in the lodge but just assumed it was because the heating had just turned on so would take a while.
- [ ] The hot tub isn’t completely private as you are expose by the entrance to the lodge where people travel down to get to their lodges.
- [ ] after a dip in the hot tub we got out and noticed the radiator was freezing cold we didn’t think anything of it, I then went to shower, the show was luke warm and took 5 minutes to heat up, it did a slow dribble. In the morning I sent Gary a message at 7 am letting him know the issue and asked if he had a heater instead, I didn’t receive a response until 8 after I had to contact the person I booked with and she rang him, Gary didn’t arrive however he did send the onsite electrician over at 8:15 who stays in a lodge nearby and it turned out whoever did the hot tubs had filled the hot tub and chucked the hose and didn’t turn the hose off so it was on all night, which was causing the radiator and water issues.
- [ ] The lodge was so cold during the night I woke up multiple times due to being freezing cold and avoided going to the toilet as the lounge was even colder, my feet actually hurt with how cold it was and that’s with socks on. This was just the first night and the first morning there.
- [ ] One of the light switches was missing knob which is an easy cheap fix.
- [ ] The remote in the double bedroom didn’t have any batteries so I had to get the lounge areas remote and swap the batteries over, both TVs did need a restart to connect to the internet but after that worked fine, the bedroom tv is a little slow to response when using the remote. So if the tv doesn’t want to connect to the internet you just need to restart it and it’ll work.
- [ ] No microwave which would have been nice. As it does say a fully equipped kitchen.
- [ ] Says no smoking but there was cigarette ends where we parked and on the decking and some stones on the deck so could of done with sweeping not only that previous stays had smashed a glass so there was shards of glass near the hot tub.
Despite the hiccups it was a lovely stay and the staff was lovely. Will definitely be returning next year for my birthday. I can’t wait to come back!
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking. Lied about having breakfast on site, was left with no hot water and food on site was terrible. Got intouch with customer service and offered me 20% my next visit. Don't waste your money . Lincon site
Disappointed 😔 wasn’t the cleanliness
Disappointed 😔 wasn’t the cleanliness, other guests items left in the lodge and signs of wear and tear. Fire not working handles missing. Heating not very warm on arrival and the next morning so could of done with a working fire! Was not made aware and when reported by text no response. Had a 6 week old babies few items of clothing on the radiator and this seemed to be blamed for the heating not been adequate for January Weather!
