Excellent course! Informative, inspiring and fun. Claudia is a great teacher very friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I thoroughly recommend doing this course, it was a really wonderful experience.

The LIOP is a brilliant way to fast track your skills in photography and suits all types of photographers. It doesn’t leave a stone unturned. The director and teachers have a huge amount of industry experience and are very hands on, supportive and inspiring. The course material will be useful for a long time to come and the memories unforgettable. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I completed the Professional Photography Course over an 8 month period and I must say that it has been the best experience! I am particularly impressed with how much coverage the course offers. You really do get to try everything and get out of your comfort zone! I liked how the course was structured in terms of learning a bit of theory, history and technical skills and then applying it to your own shoot concepts. I loved how practical it was - learning what it's like in the real world of photography and the need to knows! I really valued the mentoring sessions with Holger, where he gave guidance on how to develop your personal brand and how to position yourself in the market. I came away with way more than I expected in terms of knowledge, skills, confidence and courage. Holger, Cat and Eliska ~ you truly have the teaching gift! I am actually quite sad it has finished and perhaps I'll find the opportunity to do some more courses :)

I took two courses with London Institute of Photography - Complete Foundation Photography Course & Careers Photography. I'm extremely satisfied with both courses as they both gave me a very good understanding of all topics covered. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to take their photography to another level! The teachers are amazing, provide constructive feedback, have a great amount of knowledge & are super kind :)

I took Street and Documentary Photography course (2 weekends) and I am very happy with the choice. Course was very well structured, combining important and interesting materials along with very hands on approach. Claudia was an amazing tutor, who conveyed everything in a very clear and engaging manner and also was encouraging me to pursue my interest more bravely. After 4 days of the course I got more clear understanding of how I want to pursue the photography. For those who are interested but has not decided yet to take the course- I would say- Go For It! It's worth the value.

When I first met Holger Pooten for a 1 hour one to one review of my portfolio I was so impressed that I decided to enrol on the professional photography course at LIOP. He told me it would be a transformative experience as far as my photography was concerned, and he was right. It wasn't just the technical aspects which I learned in each of the ten modules, but it was the revelationary effect of going into areas of photography which I would not have dreamed were for me, and how each of the disciplines informed each other. It wasn't always an easy journey , and I experienced many low moments. But the teaching is amazing. To be taught and mentored by such amazing, working, highly sought-after photographers is very special. When I walked out with my final portfolio, I knew I had taken my photography to another level and had been given the tools and the confidence to continue the journey.

Having now completed both the beginner and intermediate photography course at LIOP, I can happily recommend them to anyone who is looking to enhance their photographic abilities.

The classes are led by expert practitioners, and combine plenty of insight and technical knowledge with practical assignments (and ongoing feedback).

Classes are small and tailored to individual needs. I’ll certainly be returning and recommend them to anyone looking to take their photography to the next level - I only wish I had found them sooner, as I learnt significantly more in the two day courses than I ever managed with self tutorials over the past decade!

Finally, the team are thoroughly lovely individuals and make the time fly by as you learn. Please do book yourself in!

Great beginners course , well delivered with theory and Cat is an excellent tutor.

More practical would be useful in second day and review of candidates images.

The portrait course was an excellent balance between theory and hands-on. There was also a mine of useful information on where to hire or buy kit from. We also modelled for each other which was a useful experience of being the other side of the camera, something that photographers tend to avoid. While the tutor was a big name in photography he made the students the star of the show.

This course surpassed all my expectations. We covered so much content, spent a lot of time taking pictures and I felt very inspired after 4 days of this course. The teacher, Cat, was a fantastic teacher. Thank you!

I recently completed the full time Professional Photography Course at LIoP and it was amazing, so glad I did it. I'd made the decision that I wanted to take photography more seriously with the goal of turning it into a profession and after some searching online found the LIoP website. The thing that made me choose LIoP over any other course I found was the experience and range of the specialist professional tutors leading the modules. They are an incredible team with so much experience, skill and knowledge to share - their mentorship has been invaluable in getting me to a place where I feel ready to take photographs professionally. I've learned so much in a relatively short space of time and have just had a really amazing, fun and rewarding time while studying. Thanks Holger and everyone at LIoP!

Having not picked up a "proper" camera for many years
I was looking for a short course that would cover the basics and get me back up and running.
I found the course to cover the fundamentals in a very clear and logical way. It was well balanced between explaining the science and actual practical use of the camera.
The course instructor (Caterina) was very knowledgeable, and presented well.
I would definitely recommend for beginners or those who, like me, haven't used a camera for a while.

I attended London Institute of Photography in December for a short course on Portrait Photography. It was amazing! I learnt so much, Holger is a patient and very knowledgeable teacher. The course covered everything you need to know about portraiture and you really feel prepared to go out and do it on your own after you have finished. Utterly inspiring and an unforgettable experience, I can’t recommend this school enough!

After much research I decided to enrol with The London Institute of Photography and attended their Weekend Professional Photography Course.
The course was very comprehensive and covered many of the various genres of photography. This I found to be useful as it gave me the opportunity to explore and find the type of photography that I most enjoyed.
It also offered in depth information beyond my expectation, covering topics such as, the business aspects of photography, branding, presentation methods and a study of the industry and how to get into it.
Classes were taught by a very friendly and helpful team of working professional photographers all with real world expertise in their fields.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The knowledge and techniques I learnt have made me a much better photographer and left me equipped to progress as a professional.

The Photography Professional Course at LioP helped me to fill the gaps in my technical knowledge in all the areas of photography. But most importantly, it helped me improve the way I look at images, so I have now a better awareness when I analyse or create photographs.
The teachers, each one with a unique approach and vision, inspired me and helped me to constantly question and challenge myself.
The best achievement was probably the capability to finally consider myself a photographer with my own identity, which I can constantly change and improve, driven by my passion.

This is the course for anyone wanting to take amateur portrait photography to the pro level. Holger was super helpful, patient and a real mine of wisdom for all things photography. Could not recommend more.

I've just completed the Professional Photography Course and I honestly couldn't recommend it more!

Not only does the course teach you about the main genres of photography and the technical aspects, but it also gives you the skills and knowledge to pursue photography as a business.

Holger and its team are fantastic teachers, they have guided my creative process and expanded my views and ways of thinking. They allowed me to develop my ideas without judgement and I feel like I am a better photographer and creative because of it.

I can confidently say that I now have the technical skills to pursue photography professionally and it's all thanks to LIOP. I am so grateful for everything that they taught me and I would advise anyone thinking of improving their photography skills to attend the course.

They are truly amazing teachers but also kind and open-minded people who will make sure that you have everything you need to continue developing your passion moving forward.

The highlight for me was the fashion module, where we learned to work with different types of studio lighting and worked with a model on our final project.

Completing the Professional Photography Course at LIOP has helped me gain the skills, knowledge, and techniques to capture higher quality images. The course modules are clearly organised and both instruction and practical assignments are delivered in an aspirational, thought-provoking and creativity challenging way that pushes students to really experiment with their owns ideas drawing inspiration from past masters of the art. I can’t speak highly enough of the tutors for their professionalism, passion and most of all their encouragement for you to explore and develop your style. I highly recommend this course for anyone who is serious about a setting up your own business in photography or who is keen to just become a better photographer. I shall continue to stay in touch with the LIOP, and intend submit work as develop my style. If you are passionate about developing your photography, this is the an excellent place to start.
