A follow up to my review of 11 Nov 25
When my dog Ruby underwent an x-ray at a specialist veterinary surgery to discover the reason for her lameness, I expected my excess fee to be deducted from my £1000 claim for the single clinical procedure. What actually happened was that, because the surgeon found two conditions, Covea thought it appropriate to deduct two excesses plus two 'co-payments' leaving me significantly out of pocket. This is what they said (but then read on...)
"The outcome of applying two excesses would have been based on how your vet has defined and submitted the conditions you are claiming for, as this determines whether they are considered related or separate under the terms of the policy. The policy excess is payable once per condition, per policy year (should a condition recur). If there are 2 different conditions being claimed for and the first time you are claiming for them that policy year, you will need to pay an excess towards each condition you are claiming for. We do our best to explain this on our website prior to purchase and within the various policy documents we share with every customer".
I felt this was grossly unfair as did the veterinary surgeon whom performed the specialist x-ray. Anyway I am delighted to report that I reported Covea to the Insurance Ombudsman and they found it my favour meaning that Covea had to reimburse me for one excess, one co-payment, pay me backdated interest plus compensation. Result! So for anyone else experiencing the same - challenge it!

I spoke to Tira in customer service
I spoke to Tira in customer service, she was very knowledgeable,helpful, polite, patient and cheerful. She helped me to choose and set up the correct insurance for my three pets, she was very efficient, and soon had my pets insurance sorted. I was very pleased and relieved to have had her help, I think the insurance itself was very reasonably priced considering it was for all three pets and I would say the equivalent to fully comprehensive, it even covered dental. The amount of coverage to pay for vet fees incase of accident or illness was a lot higher than other insurers at a similar price, all in all I am extremely pleased with Lifetime and Tina's help.

20% increase in premium for no reason.
20% increase in premium on a lifetime policy for a three year old dog with no claims. Not good.

Like other pet insurers, we cannot offer a fixed premium and the cost of insuring a pet will often only ever increase as a pet gets older, becomes more likely to become unwell and the continuing rise in the cost of getting pets treated. Premiums are reviewed regularly and are influenced by several factors including where your pet lives and changes in claims trends. While we always aim to keep our pricing fair, competitive and accurately reflect each customers individual circumstances, these factors will lead to increases even where no claims have been made. Easy to update Pet cover details
I have ongoing pet insurance for my dog through this company and unfortunately he's recently put on weight (puts him in the 20kg+). I sent an email on the Monday & on Wednesday morning got an email with the updated pet insurance certificate with no increase in premiums (which set my mind at peace). Quick & reliable service

Initial concerns but great experience once sorted.
Having initially completed my quote online I had to contact by telephone as there was not confirmation of purchase except for a direct debit mandate. On contacting by telephone I was told the policy had not been set up which was concerning as if I hadn't contacted then I would have been left uninsured.
I have given a 5 star review because of the way I was dealt with during the call, the person who discussed everything with me explained fully, including what is, and is not, included, costs, dates of direct debit etc, and was polite and knowledgeable throughout.

Unable to complete cover on line. The customer service answered promptly, went through all the cover, different options and explained everything. Better cover and less expensive than previous insurer I had for past 5 years.
