I work at Lifebulb

I have been working at Lifebulb for a little while now, and it was been a wonderful experience! I have been consistently impressed by how much the team genuinely cares about helping clients find the right support.

Everyone I work with is friendly and passionate about their work. I would and have told everyone that they should work here too.

One thing I appreciate is that everyone is focused on helping people find the right fit rather than treating them like a number. It's nice to work for a company where improving access to mental health care is a real priority.

My experience: they're doing great work here

I think they're doing great work here. Counseling is a lot about what you make of it. I put in the effort and saw the progress. You gotta take some of these reviews with a grain of salt. Expect some people to have nothing by negative things to say (hey, they're in therapy, what do you expect). This is hard work and I'm glad I got the help I needed!

Work life balance, be damned

If you are a therapist who is passionate about providing care for your clients this is not the place for you. you will eventually burn out just doing admin work trying to get your target caseload. There is a two years honeymoon period Where you’re going to get new clients but they will make sure you do not achieve a full caseload because that will result in them giving you benefits.

Great therapists, easy to get started

I was able to see a therapist very quickly after calling. The support team made it very easy to start and answered all the questions about insurance and billing that I had. I love my therapist too! The staff seem to really enjoy working here and it made the whole experience pleasant.

One star for our amazing therapist

One star for our amazing therapist, Jennifer Most. Please do not use this therapy service. They will code your sessions incorrectly over and over and then charge you a card decline fee. I’ve asked numerous times for the billing department to bill me and not to authorize my card for payment. They say they have taken off auto-pay, but it still happens. The oversight for this place is trash.

Misinformation

I was informed by your scheduling assistant that my responsibility would only be a $30 co-pay, information that she likely was not authorized to provide.

I was then asked by the billing department to submit an itemized receipt to my secondary insurance. However, this creates a catch-22, as no insurance company in the U.S. operates this way. The responsibility to bill insurance rests solely with the healthcare provider, not the patient.

That single star is for my therapist

That single star is for my therapist, and for her only. While my therapist was excellent, their billing department is shockingly incapable and there seems to be no oversight. They made multiple mistakes in their billing paperwork which triggered them to drain my bank account instead of taking out the copay I agreed to and had been paying for nearly a year. I confirmed their mistake with my insurance company, and to their credit they addressed it the first time.

However, the next week the same mistake was made, as well as another unexplained “miscellaneous” charge. But this time insisted there was no mistake. They have repeatedly refused to correct the issue and the only person I can get on the phone is the person who made the mistake. I’ve called and emailed but no one actually fixes the problem. They just send me more copies of their mistaken paperwork.

In addition to having to close my bank account to stop them from stealing my money, I also had to start over with another therapist at a different agency.

I cannot overstate enough how deeply disruptive and draining this company has truly been over the past month.

It’s galling that they claim to support people’s mental health, and then run someone seeking treatment through this merry go round of disrespect, dishonesty, and ineptitude. My guess is that it was easier to steal my money than to correct their own paperwork and deal with the insurance company, but certainly not the behavior I’d expect from a company that claims such altruistic goals.

Please, seek treatment elsewhere. Your wallet and peace of mind will be better for it.

Spam calls

I requested an appointment online. They called me 3 times back to back without me picking up after. I blocked the number as I no longer needed an appointment here and I wanted the calls to stop. Today, they called me on a brand new number. Take the hint and stop calling me.

Great Admin team

Great Admin team! So flexible and really live up to the hype of promoting clinician feedback and work/life balance, they have great values that they live out, and know our jobs can be tough at times, the culture is very positive.

Go elsewhere!

After reading the other horrible 1 star reviews I feel lucky that their disregard for people health became obvious before we got signed up. Their unwillingness to accept cash or our insurance saved us. Not to mention the 1 month delay to talk on the phone is not considered quick help in my book.

The process is so worth it

The process, start to finish. From the first call to the scheduling, the intake-- the care that if the match isn't quite right, you can switch to another therapist. This is a great company to find care.

If I could leave 0 stars I would

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I plan on making sure this gets out to social media as well. I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer. My social worker referred me to Lifebulb because she found my insurance covers therapy, and it could not have been a worse mistake. I want to start by saying that any response from the company regarding their policies and what I signed and agreed to holds no value in this review. It works more against Lifebulb. They have a strict no-cancellation policy. They may have a one-time forgiveness but that's it. Let me make it clear, I did not want to cancel nor do think it ok to cancel whenever I feel like it but life happens and I am not going to work with an establishment that only cares about money. I had to take care of my child and they were not willing to work with me and decided to charge me the full amount of the session. I am supposed to be getting mental health help, this was the complete opposite of that. They are damaging. This brings me to the next topic... after I canceled (8 sessions in) I was sent a statement 3 months later, that I owed $455. Apparently, after everything my insurance doesn't cover mental health and Lifebulb didn't have the courtesy to let me know that my sessions were not being covered. Sure you can argue that I should know what my insurance covers but the truth is that Lifebulb doesn't care to be helpful in any way. They could have reached out a lot sooner during treatment but they didn't. When you have cancer you just hope that the people who are supposed to help do but at the end of the day Lifebulb is only interested in charging you as much as they can get from you. They wrap everything up in policies and hidden documents to ensure they can do so legally. SO MY RECOMMENDATION.... DO NOT USE LIFEBULB. ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY NOT TO HELP ANYONE.

Do not use Irene Garcia NJ License 44SC05856300. Beyond unprofessional. Her favorite words are "You Know". In one session you'll hear "you know" over 100 times because she has no absolute idea what shes doing. Thats why shes hoping YOU KNOW. When shes confronted over not having an idea what shes doing, she becomes very confrontational. Advised to never contact us again and she continues to. If you or your family is in need of mental services, this lady ain't it. 4 sessions and never once was a therapy session, all evaluations. Please do your research before trusting others with your mental health. Complaint filed with NJ Board of Professional and Occupational.

I've worked in many different clinical settings and several private practices and this is by far the best one. They truly care for the clients AND the staff's self care and wellbeing. There is solid, consistent admin and clinical support available, no micromanagement, solid compensation and benefits available. Lifebulb allows me to focus on what got me in the field in the first place: focus on the client's care while being able to manage work/life balance.

True work/life balance

Lifebulb identifies clinician and client care as a top priority and they work to uphold that in everything they do. Having been employed as a therapist at many other agencies, I can honestly say Lifebulb provided me with the flexibility and freedom needed to strike a healthy work/life balance and maintain my own self-care, allowing me to be a better therapist for my clients. Clients also seemed to appreciate the independence therapists have in working directly with them to schedule, communicate, etc., I recommend Lifebulb's services to both employees and clients based on what I've observed during my time here :)

Really supportive admin staff

Really supportive admin staff. Very steady flow of new clients when needed to fill caseload. Owners really care about their employees. Experience with the staff here has been very positive.

Choose your therapist & use insurance

Lifebulb allows you to pick your therapist. A lot of other companies pick a counselor for you. I like that I can use my insurance and that I have options for online and virtual appts - the flexibility is great. I have direct access to my therapist, too. A lot of other companies make you call their support line, but I have my therapist's phone # - I can call or text.
