Im April nahm ich gemeinsam mit vier weiteren Frauen und Coach Claudia Wawersich an der „Queen Rising“ Reise in Mexiko teil. Ich entschied mich bewusst für diese Reise, um meinen persönlichen Heilungsweg voranzubringen. Begleitet wurden wir von Katrin, die alles liebevoll organisiert hat. Jeder einzelne Tag war einzigartig und voller besonderer Erlebnisse: Wir durften bei Carmen, einer mazatekischen Heilerin, wohnen, den heiligen Berg von Huautla – den Cerro de la Adoración – achtsam und dankbar betreten sowie die Leichtigkeit und Freiheit der Delfine erleben. Ein weiteres Highlight war für mich die magische Kakaozeremonie am Strand bei Sonnenuntergang.
Besonders tiefgehend waren für mich die Limpia sowie die intensive Heilsession bei Carmen, die mich auf dem Weg zu meinen Berufung weitergebracht und innerlich gestärkt haben. Katrin hat mich während der gesamten Reise auch persönlich sehr unterstützt. Mit ihrer warmen, fröhlichen und humorvollen Art hat sie unsere gemeinsame Zeit bereichert und eine vertrauensvolle Atmosphäre geschaffen. Zudem hat sie uns viele wertvolle Einblicke in die mexikanische Kultur gegeben. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.🍀 Danke für die schöne Zeit.♥️

After traveling to Oaxaca and experiencing the creative energy that place holds as an artist myself, I came up with the idea of hosting an Art Retreat for my artist community there. Katrin helped me to make this dream come to life and created a very special and unique itinerary, thanks to her amazing network of outstanding local artists and artisans and her profound understanding of the area and culture. Together we created a 8-day experience focusing on paper making and art that not only inspired our retreat guests, but changed their approach to the materials they use and the connection to themselves and their creations. The first Oaxaca Art Retreat 2025 went so well, that we offered a second edition in 2026 that got sold out very quickly.

Ich war Teil der Queen Rising Mexiko Reise mit Coach Claudia Wawersich im April 2026. Eigentlich dachte ich mir nur, mach mal etwas Verrücktes. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie intensiv diese Reise aber für mich werden sollte. Dieses Retreat war keine typische Touri Reise, jeder Ort, den wir besuchten, jede Person, die wir trafen, jede Erfahrung, die wir erlebten, war bewusst gewählt. Um uns unseren Ängsten zu stellen, um zu lernen, die Kontrolle abzugeben und zu vertrauen. Dank dieser Reise habe ich ganz neue Facetten von mir kennengelernt. Ich habe erkannt, zu was ich alles fähig bin und was Fühlen tatsächlich bedeutet. Die Begegnung mit der mazatekischen Heilerin Carmen in den Bergen Oaxacas, die Höhlenexpedition, Delphine im Pazifik, die Kakozeremonie mit Lagerfeuer am einsamen Strand - all das sind Erfahrungen, für die ich sehr dankbar bin und deren Wert in Geld kaum zu messen ist. Diese Reise hat wirklich etwas mit mir gemacht.

This was not my first trip to Oaxaca, so I already knew I would love the food, the colors, the people, the terrain, and sites on our itinerary. For me, It was the people that made this trip/workshop so special. The artists/artisans were all talented and passionate about what they did and the traditions they honored, especially Eduardo (the papermaker), Edgar ( the cochineal farmer), and Angelise (our cooking class instructor). In addition, the women on the tour with me were talented artists in their own right, curious, caring, fun to be with.
I cannot say enough about Katrin’s care for all of us. She accommodated our needs and interests, shepherded us successfully through very full days, made sure we were comfortable and happy. The tour included some challenging hikes, too strenuous for me. Katrin always found a way for me to get to the location without having to hike.

My soul journey with Katrin was truly transformative. From the very beginning, I felt that each experience — whether in Oaxaca or in Huautla de Jiménez — was carefully and organically woven together, each lesson preparing me for the next. Nothing felt random; everything unfolded with deep intention and wisdom.

Katrin guided the journey with the knowledge and care of a soul sister. She created a space where I could heal, forgive, and discover parts of myself I didn’t even know were waiting to emerge. The women I met, the teachings I received, and the ceremonies I participated in all came together to shape a profound transformation.

When I returned home to Canada, I carried this strength and clarity with me. I realized that my energetic gifts needed a stronger foundation, so I enrolled in a Registered Massage Therapist certification to combine energy work with a deeper understanding of the body. This path feels aligned with my destiny, and I never could have imagined the transformation being so powerful.

Lakaan Travel made my trip unforgettable! Katrin is warm, super well-connected, and creates experiences full of heart. She helped me organize a local volcano tour near CDMX and I joined her 2025 art retreat, which was pure magic — full of creativity, connection, and inspiring local artists. Even though I got sick from food for a few days (definitely pack strong medicine and have travel insurance!, and be prepared to be flexible ;)), the time in Etla was an absolute highlight— calm, authentic, unique and full of inspiring people. The retreat in Oaxaca with Katrin and Paula was truly excellent. Each day was a new adventure into the art, the land and the people of this beautiful area. Our instructors were inspirational, conveying deep love and respect for their land and their heritage. Katrin is well connected to the art community and she and Paula provided us with many rich experiences. We saw a lot, did a lot and, yes, the food was fabulous.

Über die Jahre hat sich Katrin in Oaxaca ein umfangreiches Netzwerk von Kunsthandwerkern aufgebaut. Sie fungiert als Vermittlerin, sowohl zwischen Sprachen als auch Kulturen, mit einem klaren Verständnis für die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Produzent und Händler.

Katrin hat mich während 2 Wochen auf meiner Oaxaca-Reise begleitet, da ich auf der Suche nach traditioneller Medizin und Heilverfahren war. Durch ihre vielschichtigen Verbindungen konnte ich unglaublich tiefgreifende Erfahrungen machen mit Limpias, Massagen, Kakaozeremonien und vieles mehr. Der Höhepunkt und das Berührendste war für mich, dass ich direkt von curandera Lorena lernen durfte. Im Februar bin ich für 2 Wochen nach Oaxaca gereist und habe mir meinen kompletten Aufenthalt von Katrin planen lassen. Der Fokus lag dabei auf Natur und traditioneller Medizin. Dank Katrin habe ich eindrucksvolle Orte und Regionen von Oaxaca kennenlernen dürfen, die ich alleine nie besucht hätte. Vor allem die unberührte Natur im Bergort Huautla de Jimenez, zu der auch ein gigantisches Höhlensystem gehört, haben mich nachhaltig beeindruckt. Neben der Planung und Organisation meines Aufenthalts hat mich Katrin auch als privater Guide und Übersetzerin begleitet. Mit ihr macht es Spaß, in die lokale Kultur einzutauchen und Sachen zu erleben, die fernab der ausgetretenen Touristenpfade liegen. Mir gefällt sehr, dass sie stets lokale und nachhaltige Touranbieter sowie Unterkünfte in ihr Angebot einbezieht. Katrins Anwesenheit als Übersetzerin bei der Zeremonie in Huautla de Jimenez und den Limpias mit einer einheimischen Heilerin in Oaxaca Stadt empfand ich aufgrund ihres warmen und herzlichen Gemüts als sehr angenehm und förderlich. Danke Katrin für eine tolle Zeit und deine professionelle Arbeit! Auf dass noch ganz viele Menschen von deiner Leidenschaft zu Mexiko profitieren.
