I left KPMG UK almost after six months …
I left KPMG UK almost after six months because they were indifference for my case. I was close to receiving a fine by HMRC due to late VAT return. Also, all accounts were a mess. After the complaint, they did something but I preferred to change accountant. So, cost to cancel my previous agreement with the accountant to go to KPMG, another cost to return to the previous accountant, and higher fees for the former accountant to put an order to the KPMG. This regards the service for Small Businesses.
However, I have to acknowledge that all management team reacted positively to my complaint and made everything to fix it up. But it was late because the base of a relationship between a business and an accountant is the trust. If it is eroded, you cannot continue. To be fair, they fixed the mess, assigned my accounts to another accountant, and they did not charge for the last month of the mess. However, my new accountant could not trust their accounts and he found the opportunity to ask additional fees to check all KPMG's work. The mistake is mine.
Also, I do not rule out that it may be a special case and does not reflect the overall reputation and brand of KPMG.
However, I believe that my story may prevent all customers to be more careful and check daily their work with them. The story was one year before and many thing may have changed to positive. I hope.
