We instructed this firm for our property purchase because the estate agent recommended using the same solicitors as the seller. The expectation was that this would make the conveyancing process smoother and more efficient. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

A key issue regarding underpinning was omitted from the final report provided to us shortly before completion. When we queried the matter, we were repeatedly told that the relevant enquiries and responses had already been shared with us. Only after multiple emails and considerable back-and-forth did the solicitor review the report and acknowledge that the enquiries should have been automatically included but were not.

Underpinning is a highly material issue as it directly affects a property’s value, insurability and future resale. Had this been disclosed to us earlier in the process, we may well have reconsidered proceeding with the purchase. Instead, this information surfaced extremely late, after we had already made significant arrangements for the move and were deep into the conveyancing process. At that point we were effectively left with very limited options.

This resulted in unnecessary stress and a large amount of time spent chasing information that should have been clearly presented in the first place.

After completion we raised a formal complaint with the managing director asking for a review of the firm’s procedures to ensure this does not happen to other clients. Five weeks later we have still not received any response.

The transaction did ultimately complete, but the lack of quality control, the need to repeatedly push for basic information, and the complete absence of any response to a formal complaint have been extremely disappointing.

Extremely professional and diligent. Our solicitor Saika took our case on after our previous law firm had gone under. She worked tirelessly to ensure the chain of 4 properties kept progressing and we managed to still move into the new house only 3 weeks later than originally planned thanks to her hard work!
Saika is a credit to the company. I would definitely recommend KMC Legal for future endeavours

I instructed this firm for a property conveyancing matter as a buyer. I was charged £360 for a “Deed of Variation / List of Variation” related fee, supposedly required by the developer.
However, it later became clear (around mid-November) that this variation was not required at all. The developer had already confirmed there was no need to amend the deed and did not mention any such administrative fee.
Initially, I gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed my solicitor was being cautious and acting in my best interests by following up with the other party. After one or two follow-ups with no response from the other side, I requested that the £360 be refunded first, with the understanding that I would pay again only if the fee genuinely became necessary.
Around late December / early January, I was told that the money would be refunded shortly if the other party did not respond. Since then, I have emailed once a week for an entire month, and not a single email has been answered.
To be clear:
The fee was confirmed as unnecessary back in mid-November
The refund has now been outstanding for over a month (and over two months since it was known to be unnecessary)
The most alarming issue is that there is absolutely no response — not from the acting solicitor, not from general or info email addresses
I have previously contacted the firm via their general email for unrelated matters as well, and experienced the same issue: no replies at all.
Delays can happen, but being completely uncontactable is unacceptable, especially when client money is involved. The overall efficiency and communication are extremely poor. I am leaving this review because I genuinely do not know how else to get a response.

A house purchase or sale is always a very stressful experience, but I have to say it was incredibly easy and rewarding with KMC.
I was always kept updated and guided through all the red tape involved.
Would definitely recommend them for your conveyancing needs

My husband and I would like to thank Megan Young, for her professional service's on the conveyancing of the two recent sales on the two properties we owned. Megan kept us updated all the time on the sale's nothing was to much trouble for her explaining things to us she has a lovely attitude and would certainly be using Megan again if we decide to sell or buy another property. 😀

I was recommended kmc legal by my estate agent.
Where do I start.
Communication from kmc legal was appalling.
I was in the process of buying a property and it was the sellers solicitor, who, 6 weeks into the process informed kmc legal the house could not be sold due to issues with the title deeds!!

That should have been the first thing kmc legal checked instead of ordering the other searches.

When I complained to Megan Young about the lack of communication from kmc legal her response was a snarky' should I ring you every other day'
That would have been an improvement for sure.

They have kept the £420 I paid at the start of the process. I have not had a final account from them. I have not even got the searches they have charged me for!!

According to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, any interest accuredbon money a law firm holds for you, according to the SRA, fair interest has to be paid.

I asked for this to be paid to me 6 weeks ago, I have still not received it. I asked kmc legal to hold on to the proceeds from the sale of my previous property so the purchase of my next home would be easier than me doing the bank transfer. Something made me request kmc legal to transfer my money to my bank account. I did receive it.

I submitted a complaint to Ben Keating on 24th July 2025, that's been ignored.

I have since proceeded with the purchase of another property and I am using a law firm in Wirral.

The difference in communication is remarkable, my solicitor emails me relevant documents and advice and responds to me the same day when I raise questions, as it should be.

I don't know how kmc legal are getting 5 star reviews.

Having had such an appalling experience with kmc legal, I have had no alternate but to report them to the Legal Ombudsman and the SRA.

I am still waiting for a response to the email I sent Neil Scott, I even rang kmc legal Liverpool office on Monday and still I have not had a reply by email.

What a deplorable way to treat people who pay their good money for a below standard service.

If they were competent at their job, they would have found issues with the title deeds immediately, not to forward me an email from the sellers solicitor telling them so.

It took kmc legal 4 weeks to get my name correct on their app. They had the name of the man who bought my house as the buyer of my house along with my email and phone number.

Please so not waste your time, energy or hard earned money using this company. It will be the biggest mistake you make.

A case of buyer beware, especially with this company.

I explained to my new solicitor what I had experienced with this lot.
I had an update from my new solicitor stating they had received the contact pack and are now checking the title deeds.
I never had anything like that from kmc legal.

So if any estate agent recommends kmc legal, don't use them. Instruct your own solicitors. Trust me, you will be better off in the long run.

I should have been in my new home by now, instead I have had to start the process again, but this time, I now have a brilliant law firm doing my conveyancing, not that two bob outfit who treat clients with disrespect and contempt.

We recently purchased our first home and Veronica was exceptional in supporting us throughout the whole process.

She was very accessible and went above and beyond to ensure that we received regular updates and were always fully informed about where we were in the process.

Veronica was brilliant and provided an excellent service to us and I can’t thank her enough!
