Deposit turns profit ..
After writing a glaring review of this company as they were faultless in the beginning it has subsequently turned a sour corner..
There has been minor damage to the corner of the vehicle which has been viewed upon a damage assessment which was not attended by myself which I believe is unacceptable. Also further damage found when I am not in presence which is convenient and I think unlawful/bad practice. Any damage assessment is done with the hirer on site and with the company but they asked me to leave and they would do later over the coming days. I did however explain from the offset any damage provable to be mine I would cover no problem. I also have received quotes of my own all saying its not a problem and are local but they are refusing to use and taking to their friends i assume who are hiking the price up.
There are now claims of damage to the roof which I dispute as the roof was never accessed nor signed for in the initial damage report nor was any of the interior. They are now unlawfully holding on to my deposit despite no roof damage report being completed at hand over only report that's been signed by myself with regards to the damage report on the front, rear, and sides (no roof or inside). They will do their damage reports after you leave and with you not there.. be cautious, ask to be present.
I left a review on Facebook to which they asked their family to review and comment under it as "Harassment" which I assume is an attempt of accusations so serious to try and get Facebook to review and take down? Unsure what the motive here was.
For their quotation on the damage they charge £118 .. not for the repair, for the quote! After receiving this I called the business and messaged to which they continually rejected my call and ignored my messages and now wonder why I am so stressed, disappointed and frustrated.
The handling of this has been grossly unprofessional and very non business like, I almost feel like I am dealing with a back street company. I had multiple prices and went with Karen to support a local upcoming business and have been left stung.
I am also positive there has been GDPR breaches and the harassment claim is slander on my integrity as a person which they have now deleted online. So your issues and concerns to them as a business aren't safe.
There has been damage from previous hires and nothing was fixed so I guarantee they have taken deposit money from their customers but not had the damages completed to increase their profit margins as they confirmed the last hire was in October so why would the damages not of been fixed by now?
Instead of taking to a local company they will drive to Perth and bill you £65 per hour for their time which is a salary of £125k a year.. not bad! Basically they will do everything they can to not give you the money back and add up every little thing.. I even left them with a full gas tank of £35 which they said isn't their problem and will only refund me should I show them a receipt. Not to state the obvious but when you are in the North Coast of Scotland receipts aren't a thing.
They now also magically had a hire this week which they are charging me for for loss of earnings even though when we spoke on Saturday the van was going in for a yearly check on the Friday but miraculously its now next week...
They have have received a quote of £2.5/£3k for the damage, charging me for a loss of hire (£1050 PW), 3 hrs of time to Perth £195 and £118 for the estimate. Its looking like my bill is just short of £4k for a scuff mark on the corner which is a nice wee 100% profit for them since they don't actually get the damage fixed.
Stay clear and be aware, don't do a bank transfer do a credit card hold, be on site for the full damage report and sign a completion form that they confirm at hand over there has been no damage and keep yourself safe. Best thing to do is not use them, Central Scotland Campervan hire take a £500 credit card hold not a £1500 bank transfer which they will know is always in the receivers favour and the banks can do nothing to support you.
