Great equipment, plenty of equipment. Clean environment and friendly staff.

Enjoyed experience

The instructor Amanda, at her classes zumba and spin. I enjoyed at maximum. Loved her energy and her vibe. After her classes I been more energetic and low stress.
Gym form is structured very good.
A little far away from town centre the location but not bad,bad.

I just restart after 4 years of reab for a job accident and I feel great in this gym, thanks to everyone who works in the gym

I have been with JD since it was taken over from the old Xercise4less and I was with the gym around 6 years, as this was not in a convenient location and hadn't been in some time I thought it best I cancel my membership.

We are sorry to hear that you wish to cancel. I can confirm we have processed your cancellation request, in line with the terms and conditions you are required to give 30 days notice therefore your final payment has been collected on or around the 12.10.2022 giving you full access to the gym until the 11.11.2022

There is no need to cancel down your direct debit, as we will automatically cancel this once your final access date has passed, please know if you cancel your direct debit your access to the gym will instantly be revoked.

I follow the process as I was requested and cancelled my membership through the correct channels, I was advised my membership was cancelled but my direct debit payment was taken a future 4 times, I contacted them via email and they confirmed my membership had been cancelled as requested, I then advised I would be cancelling my direct debit only to find a few days after this I received a text from Hartlands advising me I needed to contact them to set up my Direct debit again. Called the number waited 40 minutes to speak to someone to be told that I had to wait for an email back which I had been chasing for a response on for a refund day after day with no response. Yesterday I received the below email;

do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. After speaking with our payment provider they have traced the card used to pay for your membership, and located another active membership under your details. Please find a breakdown below:

One membership is registered to our Shrewsbury gym under the email address XXXXX.com, this was signed up to with Xercise4Less in 2017 and was transferred to JD Gyms. A second membership was registered to our Shrewsbury gym under the email address XXX.co.uk which was signed up to on the 27/07/2021.

When signing up for a membership with JD Gyms, our sign-up process does not allow an email address already held under an active membership to be re-used. This is to prevent the duplication of membership for one person. As you have signed up for a membership using a different email address whilst an existing membership remained active this has resulted in duplicate payments collecting.

As you have agreed to the terms and conditions for both memberships, we are unable to provide a refund for the payments collected. I have ensured the membership held under the email XXXXX.co.uk has been cancelled with no further payments to be collected. I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

They have advised I had a duplicate account, which is strange because I only ever paid once a month so how would that be possible? I believe this to be intentional to obtain additional money from people and is a scam on a large scale. I can also see this is an experience others have had and I would not recommend anyone to go with this guy.

I have contacted the BBC watchdog and I would suggest anyone else that shares my issues does the same

Only joined a week ago, but so far everything is good. Have a great Zumba teacher, Georgiana, and everyone is so friendly.

Good equipment, pleasant atmosphere, I was able to get a good work out in without feeling crowded or watched.

I am very impressed by quality and selection of the classes. I have never enjoyed more going to the gym than I do now.

Used Shrewsbury Gym for over a year with very few issues. However, I left the gym on September 22, following the advised procedure of emailing customer service I was asked to provide the relevant details for canceling my membership.

I received an email saying my membership was now canceled, but that I should NOT cancel my direct debit. I have now been charged for 4 months of membership that I shouldn't have.

On contacting customer services again they yet again requested all the relevant information, even though I used the ID number they provided. I also sent back screenshots of the original cancellation confirmation email! (surely this is recorded on their system!?)

They told me they could not refund me but to be assured that my membership had now been canceled (what use is that?).

As the email with a confirmation of cancellation is time-stamped, surely this is irrefutable evidence that JD Gyms is in the wrong and owes me the 4 months membership.

They have now not responded to my email in over 10 days!

On customer service alone I would have to recommend that people avoid this gym at all costs! And hopefully, Laura B at customer services gets back to me soon to resolve this issue.

Their response, much like their customer service is still lacking the basic care and attention I would expect from any business.

The information they requested was sent 4 months ago. The cancellation was accepted at that time and I have sent them a screenshot of the email with the confirmation clearly showing the date. The fact that they have still not taken the time to find this correspondence is unbelievable and I will be submitting a Subject Access Request.

I have still had no response from customer services. (over 3 weeks)

I will continue to pursue this and hopefully, no one else will be at the end of such an unnecessary and frustrating ordeal!

Signing up was easy.
The app, has a handy class timetable, but could have more features to help with setting goals etc.
I went for the first time, and was a bit nervous, but a member of staff showed me around, and taught me how to use the machines, which put me at ease.

Very relaxed environment, don’t feel judged at all, staff are all lovely & helpful

Love JD gyms, always equipment available and the classes are awesome. The Wednesday morning spin class is particularly good! Awesome motivation, different routines and super upbeat and supportive coach! Wish she had more classes at JD!

Really pleased with JD. I would prefer the more weight machines in the lady’s gym, there’s only 2 leg machines. Overall happy
