First time going to JD Gyms, best & helpful staff definitely recommend to anyone

The showers in the mens changing rooms are unreliable and they need updating.

I like the gym but would love it if they put motivational gym nasheeds or just normal nasheeds and quran

Good range of equipment but with some noticible exceptions (no standing calf raise for instance).
Lots of signs asking members to wipe down equipment but nothing provided by the club to do this.

Quick easy sign up, good equipment. Ladies section could do with being a little bigger and could do with a steam room. But overall a brilliant gym

Overall, the experience it is like being squashed in a lift and not wanting to invade the next person's space, but it's unavoidable as the renovations are underway. However, over time I am experiencing a deterioration in the attitude of people using the women's sauna. Not only are people entering the sauna in their day clothes straight from the street, they're coming in the sauna straight from the gym in their workouts/gym clothed, I had the pleasure of seeing a person with her handbag next to her and using her mobile phone whilst in the sauna! Just when I thought I had seen it all, I saw one person doing a her full hair regime in the sauna and another person walk in the sauna with her pyjamas on! Please don't give me started on the standard of personal hygiene and body odours, as that has reached an all time decline. I believe to improve this there should be regular staff checks and signs up reminding people of the standards when using the sauna and also to have a shower before use. This is to respect all that use the sauna, in the name of fairness and respect for each other.

The new refurbishment is great and the trainers are all lovely

The scanning machines don't always work and he delay getting inside takes a while as your waiting for someone to let you in. Surely a code system would be much better or giving every member fobs to let them in which are returnable when contract is terminated. One of the rowing machines wasn't even working but it didn't have a sign to say out of order.

Horrible staff nasty people dirty facilities equipment everywhere apart from where its supposed to be and to many kid's messing about more like a playground worse gym in Rochdale.

I have only re-created my membership to trial the gym as it is closer to where I have moved but I have still kept my other gyms membership active in case I don’t like this gym. I had previously left this gym as there were male PT’s and male cleaners entering the ladies only area & on asking management why that is, when the area is labelled “ladies only” they said it was due to there not being any female members of staff on shift. This was the case for about 6 months & it was a very uncomfortable & disheartening experience as I would ask for female staff to be present more & for my feedback to be used but it seemed it wasn’t, it was even more disheartening to see the males allowed in the ladies only section didn’t have much respect for women & didn’t mind checking every female out working out in there. The excuse is poor & believe something could have been done about this (such as having female members of staff on shift all day) but after speaking to other female gym goers who left JD for this reason it seems they don’t care to do anything about it. At my other gym (The central leisure centre) they display the hours a male member of staff will enter (I really appreciate this notice as I know not to attend the gym then as I wear a hijab) and the only time a male member of staff entered the ladies section I was able to speak to a manager & the male member of staff was asked to leave - that is good customer service & respect for individuals. My membership at JD is only temporary to see if anything has changed with regards to the ladies only section & if not then I wouldn’t mind travelling extra for a gym that understands what ladies only means & can respect their customers.

Just joined the gym and for the money is worth every penny nice and cool plenty of equipment and choice, changing room facilities nice and clean.

Helpful staff when wish to know a detail re equipment. Appreciate air conditioning
Good classes at no extra cost and good range of classes to choose from
Good toilet, shower facilities and locker availability
Some machines certainly tired / worn out so will be much improved after imminent refurb

cleanliness/hygiene - just ok. The stretching area is mostly stained with dirt or sweat. Not cleaned properly. The cardio machines are also just ok. The steam room also needs attention.

gym bag holding belt, grips for deadlifts, water bottle, phone and other items that help train weights are not allowed in the weight training area. Then how do you expect people training carry these things from the locker room to the first floor weight training area. Reason behind not carrying a gym bag is, people will trip. Ok then people don't trip on belts, water bottles and other scattered items?

grips at the machines are all worn out and have not been replaced since months

Clean and tidy gym with modern look

It is good experience and affordable.

I called in for an induction session in Rochdale today which was really useful, informative and reassuring. Looking forward to regular gym sessions now. Good to know staff are friendly and knowledgeable, ready to give advice and willing to help if necessary.
