the spin class i went to was the first class i have attended. the sound system was awful i couldn't tell what the instructor was saying at all and just had to copy others in the class. the sound system definitely needs improving.

Just joined this gym, so easy to do. Plenty equipment, staff friendly & a good monthly fee. No negatives at all

Bit scared to go in first time alone but I did it .I enjoyed myself and ppl help me if I have a question .

Lots of machines and free weights. Cardio equipment always available. Sauna a added bonus.

I am a member of the Newcastle Shiremoor gym for almost 2 years, but have been shocked over the last 6 months with the gym's approach to cleanliness and hygene. Last year a number of cleaning stations were removed and a ludicrous sign put up that said this was done because JD cares about the environment and reducing waste. Frankly that was nonsense. What this implies is that JD is suggesting that members clean their equipment less in order to create less waste, however, why would a gym ever be insane enough to state that, so by making up a story about casting about the environment, they can hide the simple fact that its nothing more than a cost saving exercise.

If JD actually cares about the environment there are some very simple steps they can make that would have a much greater impact and not compromise cleanliness such as no longer selling single use plastic water bottles and installing recycling bins so that the normal bins don't fill up with recyclable bottles, which I see every visit.

What has prompted me to leave this review now was that when I went for my last visit last week, I discovered one of the only remaining cleaning stations in the gym had also now disappeared, and only 1 station left hidden in the corner for the majority of the gym floor, making members go out of their way to be able to easily clean the equipment. When I queried this, I was told the table was damaged, and they weren't sure how quickly it would be replaced. I'm sorry, but how does a small table that only holds spray and paper towel get damaged? And aren't there a bunch of spare tables stored away from all of the other stations recently removed?
Frankly it's disgusting, and i now see very few members making the effort to clean. I will now need to ensure I clean my equipment before and after use to be on the safe side and to avoid finding things like discarded finger nails on the cardio equipment like I did a couple weeks ago.

Frankly, the only thing keeping me from leaving is my personal trainer that I use. If he was not working out of this gym, I would go elsewhere

Get your act together JD and stop cutting corners atv the expense of basic cleanliness.

Just joined the gym and amazing experience so far I love classes and the classes are prefect for me and fit around my work life staff have been very welcoming

Massive gym, loads of space, plenty of equipment, never had to queue for anything even just after Christmas when the gyms tend to be at their busiest.

Lovely and professional staff who are always happy to help.
Love the sauna and all the gym areas.

Really good gym. Choice of classes is good however there is no lunchtime classes which is disappointing.
