This gym is awful. They have a large turn-style like something out of a prison on the door, it's very triggering if you have claustrophobia, you used to be able to use your code to open the ordinary gate next to the turn-style, but they've recently stopped this. Waiting for a staff member to open the gate is ridiculous. There's barely anyone around, so you stand there for about 10 minutes or so. Some of us don't have time to burn waiting to be let in or out Also, there is no air conditioning, in Summer the sweat hangs in the air and smells like urine.

So, I've cancelled my membership, it seems JD gyms, don't really care for there members just profit. This gym is not worth £25.99 per month. When customer care is this poor.

The staff were amazing in helping me find my lost Apple Watch. They went above and beyond watching every step I made in the gym on the CCTV and gave me updates when they had any information. Amazing staff that worked at 11am in JD gyms bellevale, thank you

Been a member for years, not sure why I have stayed, it's freezing, air-conditioning on in the winter, turn it off!!! No point complaining, management team are a waste of space, just use excuse its managed by head office, tried to contact them, no response. Normally busy with new starters but not this January, too many other decent gyms around to waste your money on this one. Listen to your members JD, we are paying your wages,ill be going somewhere new !!! Even the 1 rating was a compliment.

Be careful when cancelling gym memberships. When you cancel your membership they will charge you extra months for not using the gym. My payments comes out on the 26th of each month, I cancelled my membership a week later on the 3rd. Giving them plenty of time to cancel my membership. They've dragged it out for over 2 weeks and are now going to charge me another months members for a gym I haven't used since the 3rd. You wouldn't think a multi million pound company would scam the average working person like this.

I have been a member of this gym for a long time and the staff there are fab. However they are seriously being let down by their management in relation to the upkeep of their equipment. This review relates specifically to the upright static bikes. The gym always had 6 of these bikes for members use. They are needed by a very large number of customers with specific needs like myself. There are people with disabilities and the elderly that need these particular bikes for the specific riding position. They were allowed to get into such disrepair that 4 of them were eventually removed completely by management several years ago and never replaced. There are currently only 2 left and one of those is defective but left in use. This is a health and safety issue as the gear system is broken and constantly slips which can cause injury/muscle pulls or worse. I have reported the issues on numerous occasions to the head office. All that happens is that the matter is sent to the local staff/management at Belle Vale to address who can’t do anything as they do not have any authority to authorise replacement bikes. Customers are not even asking for NEW bikes specifically but reconditioned ones from newly refurbished gyms would suffice. I have been forced to take out a multi gym membership to use another JD gym in Liverpool who have better equipment. I am now having to needlessly drive further as a result. I currently have a PT at Belle Vale and unless this matter is rectified I will be leaving the gym as there are numerous alternatives in the area. This is thus having a direct impact on the income of their own staff which is totally unfair. Due to the lack of response by the management I have felt the need to post this on a more public forum. I have little faith in this being resolved.
This is the unacceptable generic response from JD. I have provided them with my contact details as requested by them and nobody has had the decency to call to discuss:
Hi – Thanks for leaving us some feedback. Our gym teams do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should become broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have equipment in working order as soon as is safely possible. If you do have any concerns about the equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can.

The issue here is not only the poor state of the remaining 2 bikes but the gym is 4 bikes down. I have been speaking with staff constantly for 2 years about this and local managements hands are tied. They are as frustrated as me. It’s not cost effective to continually have engineers attend the gym for worn out machines. If I was contacted I may have provided an adjusted positive review but this has solidified the reason for my poor review for JD. The gym has a massive amount of subscribed members who they are letting down. This is only one of a number of deficiencies at the gym. There was only one rope attachment for the WHOLE gym yesterday and there are are hardly any 5kg plates for the number of machines and squat racks. Can I please be contacted by management to discuss?

My second time of leaving a review with regards to the punchbags. Same issue of all 4 bags grouped together. Once again the stand is coming apart from the ground & yes you can secure it back in the ground but within a short space of time the bolts will loosen. I seriously suggest you look into a solution to hang all 4 bags up separately as in not grouped together on the stand in which it is at the moment. Tuesday night there were 3 men & myself using the bags which meant all 4 bags being used at the same time not only putting added pressure to the frame about to come out of the ground any second but also the fact the 4 of us were getting in each others way due to the set up of the bags. Not only is this annoying to myself & everyone else health & safety comes into play
I as a woman is entitled just like the men to use the bags but I shouldn't be on my "guard" of being hit or pushed over by a man which technically wouldn't be his fault due to the lack of space. I quite often do not use the bags if there's already 2 people using them even though you have 4 bags hanging which then means I'm missing out on my training. Once again I ask you Please put safety first & hang these bags up individually so 4 people can use the bags without any problem's. Membership prices have gone up so please listen to what paying customers are asking from you. Although you only have my word for this I have spoken to other people using the bags who have said same thing as me, As in hang bags up separately. Please take serious note of this review. I completed my sign-up process four days ago, but I still haven’t received the welcome email with the QR code for entry. As a result, I have not been able to access the gym since joining. I find this quite frustrating, as I’ve already lost four days of access that I paid for.

Could you please let me know when I will receive the QR code so I can start using the facilities? Additionally, I would like to ask if the days I’ve lost will be compensated or added to the next month, as it seems only fair under the circumstances.

Gym is good has lots of equipment. I'd definitely add concept 2 bikes to the kit!! And my only other issue is that the batteries on the machines could do with changing. Other than that great gym and value.

In almost everything there are teething problems from start , just reaching out to a competent member of staff and they put it right!
The bar code entry was a little stubborn to gain access which was frustrating but
Explaining and receiving an access code solved the problem and now I train 24/7
Great service

In desperation of a revamp. The equipment is falling to pieces machines out of use for months on end. Bolts on floors around machines, lack of weights for weight plated equipment. I have the feeling they must be ready to close this place down as no investment whatsoever yet the place is getting busier by the day

I attend a spin class 4 times a week at Belle Vale. This is not my local gym however i pay extra to use this location. There are currently 10 yes 10 bikes which are broken and have been for some time.
This is appalling service and i hope this will be rectified immediately. There have been complaints raised with the manager onsite however no action has been taken .
Even with the bike challenges, the spin instructor is amazing which is why i still attend.

I attend Belle Vale JD gym, so this review is only on that gym. Want to do a spin class, get there 30 minutes before the class because there are 10 bikes broken in the spin room and if they aren't broken there's something wrong with each and everyone of these bikes. People have left the classes due to injury with straps breaking and pedals coming off the bikes. The only reason I've given it a 2 star review is because the unbelievable spin instructor, Lisa. Staff are pleasant and it's cheap!

So are you going to fix or replace half the spin class bikes???

The aircon in Bellevale where the classes are held, never works it’s either far too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter especially if there is a yoga class on.
All the classes are good but Bellevale you need to sort this problem out. I’ve been told it’s controlled by head office if this is correct it certainly isn’t controlled very well. If at all. I have mentioned this problem to the staff on numerous occasions for over 12 months and nothing is ever done

Gym is far too hot. It's around 28 degrees inside on hot days. Have complained multiple times but customer service give you the run around saying its the gyms fault and the gym says head office control it. Sort it out

Very little if nothing to clean down equipment.
Used to be very good but have to hunt round gym for roll of blue paper or spray.

Plenty of equipment at the time I went.

This is a good well equipped gym but they could do with more dumbbells
The lady who is there every morning welcomes everyone with a good morning and keeps the gym in a clean condition the gym is spotless she is a credit to JD Gyms

A nice hun, the aesthetic is fab and seems a healthy environment, only thing I’d love to see more (in gyms in general, been to a few chains) is instructors just walking around, being there, offering support etc. It helps people that are shy (like myself) feel more comfortable in the gym, just to be able to say “am I doing this correct” and have some support. Only staff I’ve seen here are cleaners, that’s my only suggestion but otherwise, a lovely gym I plan to stick by.

Excellent gym, affordable and a well treated training area. Coming from David Lloyd, JD gym has already surpassed my past experiences with other gyms.
The entry system is easy to use and quick and the overall selection of machines is amazing. Nothing is ever too occupied and if it is, there is plenty of other machines to use.
